Secret zone type in SimCity 3000!

Still play this classic! One thing I stumbled upon during a scenario; I was playing the pre-made city Seoul, Korea. In the left uppermost corner of the city is an empty zone. The color resembles the industry zone, but much darker.

When I use the query tool and click on the zone, in the description it states: “Planets not aligned.”

Could this be a special zone? Or could it an Easter egg? Would it develop?

Does anyone know what this is?

The only thing I could find said

Another fairly useful new feature is being able to tell why a building has being abandoned, or a zone isn't developing. When you Ctrl click to get information on such a tile, the reasons vary from silly, random things like "Planets not aligned" to more constructive explanations like "lack of demand for this zone", "no power" and the like.

I wonder why this zone has a different color though? I have tried to see if it would develop, but nothing wants to grow. Also, the zone was already there with the pre-made city

It's a missing landmark. I encounter this in a user-made map as well. This map required a few extra landmarks. If you don't have those landmarks, those zones will appear in the position of the landmarks. Something like the brown boxes which will appear if you miss a dependency. It seems that Maxis forgot to add an important building in Seoul.

"If you try to please everybody, you often times end up pleasing nobody, especially yourself. When somebody offers to do a favor for free, like making a mod for SimCity 4, you shouldn't be overly critical of something generously given to you. In other words, you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth." - Twilight Sparkle after playing SimCity

"Being a mayor or a content creator for SimCity 4 is a heavy responsibility, Patrick. Each city and each custom content is like a child, and must be treated as such." - SpongeBob Squarepants after playing SimCity

"Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible." - Frank Zappa

"The wisest men follow their own direction." - Euripides

That seems like a good explanation. Would someone know which missing building/landmark it might be? I have SimCity 3000 Unlimited, which as I remember, the complete package with everything e.g. Scenario creator and Building architect Plus.

Did Maxis have any extra downloads at their website years ago?

My only explanation for that is it's either high-density industrial or as others before me have said, a missing building. Might be because you could be playing the original(SimCity 3000) and not SC3k Unlimited(Which comes with the Seoul landmarks, i think(Someone please correct me)) with the Seoul map installed......

It is a missing landmark, it happens when you load a SC3U .sc3 file in SC3K for example.

There seems to be a korean release of this game, this game release contains the missing objects, there is no file called OccupantAttribs_Korea.IXF in sc3Ku but I found online some proof this file should be present in the korean edition of this game, its the reason I found this topic. hopefully I can get it

After discussions with the Simtrop staff a few years back I transferred the contents of my website over to here, then closed my site down.

All the SC3k files are here, a small number of SC3 original files are not but the Simtrop staff have copies of them and have released them when needed.
