Its been a couple of weeks since I have posted on here, but I thought this would be an interesting post. I still consider myself new to this modding business, but I believe I have got the hang of it for the most part now. So all of you SimCity 4 players, what is your favorite Mod or Add-on for SimCity 4? Feel free to list as many mods as you like. I would just like to see everyone's different opinions. I hope you guys have fun with this post!

Obviously the NAM is considered the most vital addition to the game. But there's so many others, and a lot of them depend on personal preference. This includes countless great BATs released on the exchanges over the years.

There's some useful ones in this list worth checking out, including some simulation bug fixes.

I'd also suggest:

To find specific content from, a good tool to use is the LEX Advanced Search.

Mostly anything that enhances game without breaking it completely (so no cheat lots or demand mods) and eye candies:

NAM, RTMT, SPAM, various fixes, water/terrain mods, Day'n'Nite, LRM v5.0, Stoplight Replacement, UI mod, Less Abandonment mod, Job Doublers, seasonal lots, avenues, new sidewalks, automata skins, various custom civic buildings and growables, tons of fillers, parks, MMP and such.

Have I just posted my whole plugin folder?

Recommendations are generally made by people who have them loaded, and have use for them.  I only recommend the NAM as an opening shot, and then play for a while before adding new custom content.

I use a lot of stuff, but my plugin suite is small (less than one GB) compared to some of the others on this site.  Be choosy, don't rush, and remember the site isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

NWM is now part of NAM (31.2).  Everyone to his own taste.  I use the Peg terrain mod for boreal forest pines, and the brigantine water textures.  No airport packs at all.  Airports are eye-candy and do not contribute to the commuting in the game.

Though airports don't actually transport, I was under the impression that both I-HT & CBDs benefit from them? If not, then why the slider and imaginary usage that I have to keep tabs on? I've always viewed them more like a landmark like the museum and library.

Airport lots lift CO caps. I personally use functional helicopter pads and airport bus-stops in my CBD tile for caps, and build nonfunctional eyecandy airport to another tile for realism and fun.

BAT4MAX is arguably the best, for such a vast number of BATs use the addon in their creation. Without it I'm sure at least half of the items we've grown to love would not exist.

o.O Airports are just eyecandy? So it doesn't help transportation?

No, but the Maxis default one is a commercial cap buster.

I use airport trams to make airports functional. I, realistically, consider it parking lot with airport office.
