Why no Semi's?

anybody notice that in all sim city's there has never been a semi. Meaning a tractor pulling a trailer? you know those big semi's you see all the time on the highway. There is a metal truck that looks similar to a semi but it turns in one piece like a bus. Just wondering does anyone know if it is hard for programmers to program a vehicle that pulls a trailer? I mean all it is is two vehicles one following the other I don't think it would be that hard. I would love to see truck stops and tractors trailers moving through my city. in SimCity 2013 all we get is these one piece 5 tons. personally I have never seen a one piece 5 ton fuel/oil trucks they are always tractor trailers.

Much lower priority than that. I bet SC devs fix this first though. Easier to do.

this semi thing is interesting as if any of you have played grand theft auto I don't think semi's are in any GTA either. I understand semi's take larger turns then other cars maybe this is why as a semi is too long to make a turn without diverging from the preprogrammed vehicle paths.

I remember Sim City 4 having something semis in the game. I remember in U-drive-it, if you crash into a semi, the trailer actually disconnects from the main engine. I found that quite interesting. I always wanted to drive a semi in U-drive-it, but I could never get those mods to work.

Yeah... the disappearing traffic was quite a bummer... I think there were some mods that allowed for different textures... I forget what those types of files are called now... It's been forever since I've placed SC4

yep but on the good side I really like the traffic in SimCity 5 I really enjoy watching it maxis did a good job. Semi's in industrial areas and truck stops along the highway would just be a cherry on top. I would like to see them copy exact stuff from the real world into the game not just monuments. I'm talking real worlds copies of big box store shopping malls, industrial buildings, semi's etc. I'm not a big fan of modding I have a phobia of effin up my SimCity.

I had this period of time where I would play SimCity 4 w/o mods. Now... I won't play it without mods. I feel the vanilla game just doesn't have enough to offer. SimCity 5, with it's always on DRM, seems to be much harder to mod, and like you, I have a phobia of screwing up my SimCity 5. The new SimCity doesn't seem to be as mod friendly... And really... mods are the thing that is keeping SimCity 4 alive today!

In an EA fashion, they are going to be releasing all this stuff in these really dumb and expensive DLCs. I hate to see games go this route...

oh ya your right they are going to mod themselves with DLC and charge for it I didn't think about that. But I will pay for it and it might turn out to be pretty good. But ya I understand everything is about taking more money from the regular middle class consumers these days, they want to send all the money/profits up to the wealthy shareholders.

Semis were in GTA San Andreas but the actual trailer wasn't connected naturally but nonetheless there were various locations all over the map where you could find the actual trailer. All you had to do is drive to the country and find at a regular semi, and then drive by this pizza place where one of the first missions with Ryder is and the trailer will be near there.

I love GTA, so my apologies for being so detailed about it. Lol

So why are you willing to pay for it? Cheap thrills? It is this attitude that allows ea to treat customers in this manner. If only there was a bit of backbone in today's consumption driven society and we refused to pay for the crap they release until the game is fixed then we would actually have a game we are happy with
