Hello! I have a problem and I need help ASAP!! THANK YOU!  :(

I have a city with about 6,000 people in it! (Sim city 4) It's my first successful city and I don't want to ruin it:P

First off,

I got problems.

Financial problems? Nah! I'm sexy with that!

Residential/Demand problems? CRAP NO!

Traffic problem? CRAP *YEAH*!!!!     :(

EVERYONE stopped using my roads/streets/railroads once I hit 5,500 people!! D: It says use "mass transit" to clean up congestion! But it's not working. (Well it prob works I'm just not good with designs for streets, road patterns, buss, trains etc...)

Anyway,

Like I said I DON'T WANT TO RUIN MY CITY!!!

PLEASE HELP ASAP!! THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!! I love all you people!!  :D

There really shouldn't be major traffic problems at that few people yet unless there's some simple problem here somewhere.  Can you post up some pics?

Regardless, it is a good idea to start working bus stops early in the game, which relieves a lot of pressure on your roads and rail stations, which can help you move industrial areas away from the city and still get people to them to work and freight to where it needs to be  Low wealth residents prefer public transportation anyway.  Also upgrading from street to road to avenue or a network of one-ways through inner-city blocks, but again, a city of 6k shouldn't be having major traffic problems yet.  Lets see them pics.

It almost sounds like you've cut a critical road somewhere.  You haven't been fooling with the road funding have you?

Thanks alot, but my Transportation Adviser keeps telling me The Bus Station's are pointless. I actually did try to put down a few stations but no one was getting on!

I've got mainly roads. I know what avenue's are in REAL life but how would you define it in simcity 4? Thanks again!

Here's a pic. I can get more if u want! Thanks alot!

I WAS a while ago until I was smart enough to boost them up all the way. But that was like when I had 2,000 or so people! So that can't be the problem...I think I just have too much roads! I dunno. Look at the pic in my reply to the other guy

weird, plenty of ways to get around even if a main thoroughfare is cut somewhere... did you check the traffic congestion?  In case you don't know how, click on the box that looks like a bunch of little boxes in a grid (in your screenshot it's the 4th box down between the RCI and your monthly budget) and click on the traffic button.  It should show you which roads are congested.

    Looks like the original game

I know how, and I replaced the red (high traffic) STREETS to ROADS and the red (high traffic) turned green (low traffic.) I looked at the city polls and the traffic was going up. SLOWLY. only one arrow. But STILL no one is on my streets!!

Is that the original game or the Rush Hour / Deluxe version?  And is it fully patched?

This is the original game of simcity 4. I have no mods/expansions. I don't know if it's fully patched:( haha. I haven't downloaded anything to enhance/change my game. So it's prob not patched. Even if I patched it I still don't think that's the problem. My advisers told me traffic is "too high" so "no one is using your streets!" So, it's not a glitch or anything b/c even my advisers are telling me no ones using my roads!!! :( It says use mass transit to clean up congestion. I used bus stations but advisers keep telling me they're useless. Plus no one was using my stations! ...AND another guy had the same problem as me!!! No one was using his roads. :(

The original game has flaws in the traffic simulator. I would suggest to install NAM (Network Addon Mod), it's downloadable from the STEX. For NAM you will need Simcity 4 Deluxe or the Rush Hour expansion pack. This would be completely patched if you download it from steam, otherwise you could download the patch here.

NAM has a lot of pros comparing with the default simulator in the game. In my opinion the biggest pro is that it is weigh more realistic than in the original game, when I played Simcity without NAM I experienced similar problems. Now I don't have those problems anymore, another pro is that you get more networks like trams and high speed rail.

OK thanks! I don't have any patches. How do you install  patches AND the NAM mod? BOTH of them pls! Thanks. Also, does NAM fix no one using your roads? Like...cars will be on my roads again if I get the mod?

From the screen shot, that is the original game and even it has a set of patches.  Instead of trying to source a copy of rush hour I suggest a purchase of the digital download version of deluxe from Amazon or Gamersgate.  Comes fully patched and runs without optical disks.

Do you think the deluxe version will fix my "No cars on my roads AT ALL" problem? Also, How much does deluxe version differ from original sim city 4. I don't want to get deluxe if it's REALLY Different from original SC4.

The visibility of the cars is something else. The actual appearance of cars is something that has not much to do with the simulation of the traffic, it's just for eye candy. The fact that you don't see any cars is most likely caused by your display settings, when you go to the settings (those three dots at the bottom of the screen) you could also change the detail-level. When you change the detail level to high or medium there should be cars visible.

Deluxe = Base + Rush Hour.  More traffic stuff mostly, and the digital download is fully patched and runs without a CD in your machine.  With this version you can also add the Network Addon Mod (NAM) from here (free) which greatly improves and expands the traffic system and fixes the oh, so broken traffic simulator.

This will put you on a level playing field with the rest of us.  Your old cities will continue to work, probably better than they do now.

thanks guys, but I don't think the problem has anything to do with settings cause even my ADVISERS are telling me "no one is using your streets." And "There isn't a single car on the roads" and "blalbalbala".....BUT I will try the settings thing anyway! But still, I CAN see cars (fire engines) when there's a fire emergency! Which proves its a traffic problem. in other words, fire engines are showing up, but reg. cars AREN'T!!! oh well! Thanks for all the time guys...if you have any other help/advice pls tell me. Again, thanks alot!

I suspect it is the one you would get from Origin which has funny ideas about structuring the game and whether you should log in on your Origin account to start the game.  Get the GamersGate (or Amazon) version.  What you get for nothing is worth what you pay.

I am strictly down on Origin because they are part of EA.

Get the download version off Amazon.com and you won't have to worry about patches (it's already patched), viruses, or needing to keep a CD in your drive.  And if something ever happens to your downloaded version, you can download another copy free from Amazon at any time.
