I really love the sprawl of this city and how realistic it is! I really like how you do all of your diagonal roads too. They fit well with how the city is layed out!44.gif44.gif44.gif

P.S. Thanks for looking at my city journal!

Great update. I agree, Ocean Point needed a point and South Shores is a great place to have one. Also, it's closest to the airport, so it could become a major industrial centre.

    Good work so far!
I really like your new maps; they are really helpful for the CJ reader to figure out where everything is, and they look cool too.
Your roads definately add a very unique touch to your cities, even if you end up paving half of them over because of them 11.gif...

Keep up the good work, I am looking forward to another update.

PS. It's nice to see that you are actually using those interstate shields that I made you... but I really should have made a smaller version for some parts... they seem really out of place at places.

Thanks for all of the great compliments! These are all very much appreciated, and keep me going on this CJ. 10.gif

nooneatall: If it's no bother to you, is it possible for you to make smaller versions of those signs? If it's too much of a pain, don't bother. But if they are easy enough to make. Thanks. Those signs have really helped this CJ. 10.gif

Long-awaited port will supplement the region's largest industrial city

    C: 19,048

Refer to the map on the top of the page for North Beach's location

North Beach has always been a big town, the second biggest in the region. Ocean Point is the only larger town, as far as population (Residential) goes. It now has the most industrial jobs in the region, and with good highway and road connections, a port is developing on the west side of this barrier island town, on Marshland Bay.

This is the progress which has been made on the port and the industrial area thus far. Note that I have not yet downloaded PEG's Industrial CDK as of now, although I am still planning on doing so. I need your opinions on the northernmost port. Is it out of place? It's borderline to me, whether or not that port should be there, at least at this point.

    harbor4ne.jpg

Elsewhere in North Beach, the economy continues to boom, and the residents have been moving in by the thousands lately, especially to ritzy condos along the ocean.

    overviewnb6ye.jpg

Here is a close-up picture which shows development on the oceanfront:

    beach2hb.jpg

A new recreational complex has been built in North Beach, just southeast of the airport. It has a large stadium where high school and college football (American) as well as soccer and rugby are played. The North Beach University (NBU ) football team plays here. In addition, the complex includes tennis courts, a football/soccer field, and baseball fields, as well as open green space.

Before the recreational complex was built:

After the recreational complex was built:

I would have to agree. I never thought of North Beach as an industrial center, only as the 2nd largest city in Ocean Point. I haven't downloaded the Industrial CDK either, but I hear it's amazing.

Thanks for the compliments. RHF, you're right, it is a bit tough to see North Beach as an industrial center. It has recently obtained this status. It used to be an area of dirty/manufacturing industry in the southern part of town. After improving education, health, etc. to high levels, dirty industrial demand plummeted. I went in and destroyed most of the industrial buildings, and zoned a whole lot more industrial zones to accomodate the manufacturing/high tech industrial demand at the time. The result was a much cleaner, much nicer looking town, that had also shaped into a major industrial center. Now, the industrial population is the greatest in the region, at 23,095. Ocean Point, suprisingly, has the second highest industrial population, at over 22,000.

As for the ports, I'm not too sure about at this time. When and if I do download the PEG lots, I'll decide where to put the major regional harbor. It may include an expanding of the config.bmp, and this time I'll be more careful with that.10.gif

BTW, regional population is now at 433,487. It's been growing rapidly of late, and this growth is showing no signs of stopping. The next update will return to South Inlet, the sprawling residential town south of Ocean Point, just north of the new port town of South Shores.

So this will not be a pictureless update, here is a picture of downtown South Inlet at the moment. This is in the southern portion of the town, not far west of South Bay.

Sorry for the double post, but I have a couple more pictures of South Inlet before I go on to the next update later today, probably this evening. I can tell you that there will probably be a big update then.

    Town hits 28,028

I don't have time for an in-depth update, but here are a couple of pictures of South Inlet.

    Overview:

    southinlet0sp.jpg

    A nice neighborhood:

Next time, I'll try to combine everything into one big update.

RHF: Thanks, I do plan on downloading the Industrial CDK, and possibly some other lots, tonight or tommorow.

I am also interested in getting a realistic water texture for this region. What would you reccommend? I'm looking into a couple of the new PEG water textures, including Brigantine and Clipper. Any suggestions?

The following update won't be quite as big as I would have liked it to be, but it'll be big and it'll be good. This is due mainly to two desktop crashes which occured while I was working on the city of Ocean Point, and on the town of Baytown.

Region's most neglected town finally gets some attention, and some great new development

South Baytown has always been a neglected town in the Ocean Point Region, up until now. When the region got messed up, I lost most of the work I had done on this town, making it nice. I wasn't up for re-making this town back to its past glory, and I knew that would be a daunting task. But I had reasons. First, I needed to improve the overall wealth of the town (Previously almost all low wealth), which would make it look nicer, and lower that high dirty industrial demand that I just can't seem to get rid of. Also, I wanted to turn this small town along the Pinewood River into a really nice place.

Here is South Baytown's location in the region. It's on the Pinewood Neck, south of Baytown:

    reg3up.jpg

This is what South Baytown looked like before I almost completely rebuilt it (Just a litle while ago today):

    before0jk.jpg

This is what the same area in South Baytown looks like now:

    after1pv.jpg

    Here are South Baytown's stats:

    R: 15,670
    C: 8,371
    I: 2,812

This part of South Baytown is nice and has a small complex of two midrise residential towers:

    apartments9jz.jpg

The I-68 Pinewood River Bridge spans the wide Pinewood River here. I haven't measured the width of the river yet (Using tiles, it can be calculated if you werent' aware), but it must be about a mile wide at this point.

    bridge6oj.jpg

Finally, here is my favorite part of South Baytown on the Pinewood River. This is a very expensive neighborhood, with some commercial businesses and close proximety to South Baytown Ave. This area once had NJZ issues, but this is no longer the case.

The new updates are looking good enough 1.gif

I am sorry about this; except, it may bew the only way for you to actually get the new Interstate shields that I made.
    Here they are:

    ---images removed by nooneatall---

Again, sorry. I just needed to do this before I loose the links, as my other PC just crashed, and I lost those new images as well. 32.gif

Great CJ Comdude21. This CJ is growing so fast, before you know it, you on page 10.

Have are you thinking of expanding the region and terraforming the new areas to mountains and more sprawling suburbs?

BTW what is the population of this region now?

I like how you expanded the commercial center inland my taking over former residential properties. The twin residential towers in the neighborhood looks quite nice as well.

What about the Carribean water mod and PEG Rock mod it makes the color look great

    Heres an example of it:

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//Big%20Navy%20ship.JPG align=baseline>

Notice how it looks darker and it has more color..

    Hope this helps

Thanks for all of the compliments! I plan on downloading PEG's Industrial CDK tommorow, so I might not get an update out until Saturday.

nooneatall: Those interstate shields are perfect. Great job. Thanks for all of your work going into those and the earlier ones, I appreciate you taking the time out to make those for this CJ. 10.gif

RadioheadFan: Thanks for the compliments. I do try to update frequently, but I tend to take long breaks. In my time as a member here, I've gone as much as seven or eight months without posting, which I hope won't happen again so I can continue to update this CJ. As for Thistlewood, although I have only looked at it breifly so far, the concept looks amazing and it has incredible potential. I think it'll be better than Ocean Point pretty soon.

kingofsimcity: Thanks for the compliments and the water suggestion. Regional population at this time is 433,487, I think. I do plan on extending the region to the south. However, mountains won't occur here because Ocean Point is located on the coastal plain. The PEG water you suggested looks very nice indeed. I'll definately consider it. Right now, Ocean Point could be located anywhere from New Jersey (Where I live) to Florida. So I have a lot of choices when it comes to the water texture.

oroen: Thanks for the compliments on South Baytown, that took a long time working on it. That took a lot of work getting the town to look half decent.

DragonAnime: Thanks for the suggestion. I will consider it as like I said, this region could be located in Florida. It could even be the Carribean, so that water would be perfect if that is the case.

superchad Thanks for the compliments. The before and after stuff is new and I'm glad you like it.

A final note to all about the water: I won't be making a descision on this anytime soon, I've got a lot of choices to narrow down first. 10.gif

Wow.....nobody has ever paid me such a compliment. Like you said when you were astounded when you were compared by me to Nexis, being compared to Ocean Point...being mentioned in the same breath is an honour in itself. But saying it will be better than Ocean Point...I want to thank you for having such faith. If Thistlewood is half as good as Ocean Point, I'll be happy.

Large Port to be Built in South Shores

Well, after all that, I've finally downloaded PEG's Industrial CDK. It's great! I've already tried it out in the town of East Bayville (North of Ocean Point, along Marshland Bay) and it is an amazing set of lots. I see it as the seaport version of joerg's airport pack. Installation was extremely easy. I now plan on downloading some more lots/BATs, including additional things made by PEG.

The town of South Shores has grown substantially since it was last shown, leaping in population from over 6,000 to over 10,000. It's still growing quickly.

Here is what the town looks like as of now:

    southshores3wb.jpg

This is the location of the proposed port:

    portlocation9sq.jpg

I plan on giving a huge update either late tonight or early tommmorw. I won't say much now, but both the city of Ocean Point and the region as a whole have reached big milestones.

I know. I'm guessing that Ocean Point has hit 150,000 residents and the region has hit 500,000 residents overall. Looks like Peg's seaport will fit in great with the burgeoning industry in South Shores...

Very Beautiful region Comdude. The cities look magnificent and you put up a lot of hard work on it. You could expand the region further east, as you can probably make about 20 city tiles worth of ocean, then  eventually, make a Isolated Tropical Island in the middle.

It is just a suggestion. Happy City building.
