Things from SimCity 4 that should be in SimCity (2013)

To be honest I am hooked on the new SimCity, I'm really enjoying it apart from being able to fill a tile quicker than drinking a pint and the obvious bugs etc... but it got me thinking, there are so many things I miss and was wondering what other people are missing and wish would come back?

  • Ordinances
  • Subway
  • Private Schools
  • Military Buildings
  • Mayor Statues
  • Bonus buildings like Zoo's, Theme Parks,
  • Beaches & Marinas

This is probably where people tell me I'm playing the game all wrong and all this is all still in there haha!

I would like to see the return of some form of God Mode, where you could sculpt the landscape. I'm not a fan of the flat city tiles, I like the ones with levels in them. Being able to create (even a 2km x 2km) area in the geography of my choice would be good.

I am guessing that more regions will be available as DLC at some point, hence the basic restriction as at now.

If they had pull it all in the base game, they would have to think of something new for the DLC. And having to think of new stuff when you can sell the old ideas as DLC would not be as profitable.

The reason I am not afraid about serves shutting down in the near future is because EA will be milking SimCity for years.

They haven't been pushing DLC's atm because they have enough fire under their buts from fans as it is.

Let's remember, SimCity is a completely separate game, and can be considered a "reboot" of the series. Therefore, many features have been excluded that were taken for granted in SC4. Anyone who's played SC4 will understand the importance of these omitted features. For example, terraforming was deliberately omitted due to it being considered "unrealistic" for the style of game -- which is now more based around resource management than actually sculpturing a city / region to your liking.

But there is potential for new buildings and items to be added, but only via:

a) DLC

b) Expansion packs

c) Community modding

The situation of modding is yet to be confirmed by Maxis. They have indicated (for a long time) the possibility to release some content creation tools. But at the moment, the focus rightly seems to be on fixing the game-breaking bugs. Once these have (hopefully) been addressed, maybe we'll then hear some news about this. Remember, tools for SimCity 4 such as the BAT and Lot Editor were only released a year after the main game.

So in short, there's still some hope, but nothing is for certain.

Terraforming, frankly, I don't miss it. It was literally unrealistic; however, given the tile system of the simcity 4, time to time, it was necessary to "fix" the ground to make it work more like real. But in new Simcity, well, we have glassbox: no more tiles. I don't there it is practical for any real mayors to sculpt any land. We usually just live with it, find a way to make it work even in the dire environment.

Rest of the stuffs like private schools, subways, and etc. will certainly be back with upcoming DLCs.

And one more thing, I want to add one more thing to the list.

  • regional public transit (other than railways, roads, and air)

Train station in this current form is seriously not working, and not worth it. City tile is way too small to compensate the space any railways/station would take. Trams and busses are definitely working, but it's not nearly enough to ease the traffic on the roads. Besides, how come we can't build extra highway ramps within the cities?

disclaimers: a lot of typos! OMG, gotta hate auto-corrects.

1.Big region/cities

2. Ordinances

3. NAM (underpasses,overpasses)

4. Graphics charts (year pop. evolution, etc...)
5- Zoning options (density)

There are 36, 37 more things, but with those I would be alright...

It's not like you are forced to terraform in Simcity 4...

very good items pointed out but before we get El trains, subways, freight docks, oil tankers ect we would need a minimum 8x8km city having subways and el trains for 2x2km city is really a joke and the way service vechicles run around like chickens with there heads cut off i could ride a push bike faster

This.

---------

I would like to see a whole region connected instead of of just 4 cities in any given spot. Looking at the way highways and train tracks are built in the game makes me cry a little. Region play seems to be an idea from Cities XL. Their version of region play also failed among other things.

A subway system would be nice but before that the map needs to be way bigger. Beaches should already be in here since it would be just another park. The education system does not work properly either so there really is not a place for private schools. Terra-forming should always be an option. The fact that the ground goes back to its original shape when you bulldoze something is weird and wrong.
