I became a member of this site in 2005, so it must've been in 2003 or 2004. I only got the Deluxe version years later, though. I bought it for 15 euros (which was quite a lot of money for me back then :P )

I got SC4 vanilla quite soon after it had came out in 2003.

I was a big fan of the original SimCity on my old Apple Mac SE years ago, but I never got round to playing 2000 or 3000.

I remember I bought a new PC in 2003 and was looking round for some games to play on it, and was excited to find that a new SimCity was coming out, and got it as soon as I could. I must have played it on and off for about two years, without much success, but still enjoyed it. Then I got into the Football Manager games, which pretty much took up all of my gaming time, and SC4 was left on the shelf.

Then about two and a half years ago, on a boring Sunday afternoon I dusted off the old SC4, only to find the disks weren't working properly.

Undeterred, I went onto Amazon to purchase a new copy. I came accross something called 'Sim City 4 - Deluxe Edition', which I wasn't even aware existed, and £14.99 later I was the proud owner of my shiny new game.

After a few weeks trying to get to grips with the game again, I decided to have a look around the interweb to find some hints and tips on the gameplay. It was then that I stumbled upon 'Simtropolis' with all the helpful guides and *sharp intake of breath*  custom content!  And the rest, as they say, is history.

I now have no life

I bought it in January 2003, shortly after it was released. I guess I won't be voting in the poll then

I want to say I got it in 2004. I was 11 then, and I ran it on old Compaq that was rather...incompetent. I'm still bad at it though!

I paid for the game 3 times. Well the first two, vanilla and rush hour, were from my parents. I bought the Deluxe Edition on Steam a year or two ago. I've probably put more hours into that game than any other.

Got it the day it came out. Had been a huge fans of The Sims and SC3000 at the time and was super excited for the release. I remember getting out of school (I think it was a tuesday) and begging my mom to take me to the store. When you were 13 $50 was a lot of cash, but the purchase was well worth it as it has ended up being my most consistently played game.

I got it in '05 and would occasionally poke my head in ST and other sites but didn't really start getting into all the mods and as much as I have until the last 2 or 3 years or so.

I've been attracted to cities since I was 2 (really, there's a picture of me when I was two looking out a city window, face against the glass with my Dad holding me, it's actually pretty funny), as was a friend of mine who was also interested, and we just talked about cities, the game coming up every once in a while.  Then I thought "let's try a city-building game!"  Well, this was it.  Sim City 4.

But for a year I was bombarded by the infamous vlue screen of death, which is something I will hate forever and ever.  Then I sucked at the game until Ocotober 17, 2010 when I registered onto this site as crazyllamasim.  So, if you've been looking for crazyllamasim, that's me now.  Then I started modding the game and it'sw all uphill from there.

I got it in 2003, but I had to re-purchas it in 2012 after the original disk was ruined.
