Just an small, innocent ore mining town nestled in the hills.

Love it. Really nice picturesque town you've got here and nice use of the terrain.

Cheers

I appreciate the comments; thanks for taking the time.  I find it challenging to suppress my inner linear and angular compulsions and instead allow the streets to be wiggly and variable, especially as they cut into the terrain.  However, I do find the town to have a more "organic" look and feel to it this way.

The original pictures of Oreo Hills was with a population of ~18,000.  These 3 pictures show some of the medium density development that has risen around city hall and much of the rest of the town.  The current population is ~26,000.

After Oreo Hills stalled at ~26k population I decided that the "Midtown" would be a good place to develop the city's first high density residential buildings.  A 3 plot medium wealth, medium density street was upgraded and a few days later construction began on 2 of the city's first high rises.

Feeling that "Oldtown" needed something new as well plus the growing need to address the increasing influx of low wealth workers I directed the construction a high density, low wealth tower near the entrance interchange for the city.

My population finally crested over 30k and the city hall was upgraded and a tourist addition added.

"SouthHills" was the last section of the city to see some high density love.  Although the intent was for residential growth only I quickly noticed that 2 of the 3 high rises being erected were commercial.  So SouthHills got spoiled with the first 2 high density commercial buildings, 1 low wealth and 1 high wealth.

The current population stands at ~34k but I'm at high risk for water issues.  My city plot is as dry as a bone and the sewage treatment plant isn't producing any groundwater.  Importation from afar may be necessary.

I love this city, such amazingly planned out. Your first pictures with the more dark filters make it seem like living in your city is a hard life but then as the filters get more colorful it seems like the city is getting better and becoming a nicer place to live.

I appreciate the comments.  The transition from darker to lighter filters was pure coincidence.  This was the first city where I began testing the various filters with the intention of taking pictures to share.  I agree that many of the Red & Black filter pictures are a little maniacal looking, kind of small town horror story style.  I enjoy(ed) playing this city but I haven't played it much recently for two reasons: 1.) The Rusted Bridge CJ and; 2.) the winding and pocketed nature of the town resulted in several agent path finding problems.  The biggest two were power and water issues, i.e., despite having surpluses the water and power packets became depleted before reaching some of the more remote and/or tucked away locations which resulted in citizen complaints and abandonment issues.  I think it will be necessary to seriously modify the city to address these issues and I was too frustrated to come up with a legitimate reason to seriously modify the town given the pseudo-story I was running.  I may come back to Oreo Hills after patch 2.0 or if I need a break from Rusted Bridge.

Well you still did a nice job. I have noticed that in my most recent city that I planned to have HORRIBLE traffic on. At 6k sims the streets are so clogged and annoying until late night where people sleep more like dead sims then rocks. My coal plant is working so hard in that city but some residents don't get enough power but if I add a road to fix that a nice dirt road is clogged with 100 cars and the avenue is empty.

I like how you developed slowly I like cities that do that so you see the history from small town to big city.

I haven't spent much time looking at the Simcity 2013 CJs, but I really like yours.  Great job!
