City not processing correctly, rollback now it's gone

WTF? Has anyone had this issue, just lost a city I had spent many hours building. It said the servers were having trouble processing the city, said I had to rollback, when I did it is now disappeared. THis is why Always only and cloud saves just are not a good idea.

I've had my cities on one server become corrupted (which is similar I guess). The online system is slow anyway, and it's not even going to prevent pirating aside from maybe delaying it a month or two, if that. I feel it'd be much better if the online system either let users host it or just occasionally sent data to update the region (as it does now). As for being corrupt, rolled back, or just lost, it seems like it's actually happened to an upsetting amount of people.

I should say, welcome to the club. I think thousands lost their cities the way you descibed it. The only good thing, is when you build a new one, you're much more experienced, so it'll be easier. But always keep in mind it can get lost... until they'll fix it.

Yes. Happens all the time. If I would have to guess I think I have a rollback every half hour (playing on Europe 6). Lost an entire region once too.

This just happened to me yesterday, one city in the region has disappeared, yet it still provides services and shows on the map as being there, but none of the buildings are there.  Really pissed me off.

I'm not for the cloud saving idea, honestly. It was bad enough when cities didn't save properly in SC4, and we could make our own backups then. Hopefully EA fixes this.

BTW That land now seems to be salted. Can't even start over, much to the detriment of the other cities in the region,

On the title screen, try using the "Play" (2nd) option instead of "Continue" (1st) (not sure how it's labelled in english), there you can select your current active region, and you see your cities just like when you first created the region.

There you should be able to rollback your corrupted city.

BTW, we NEED a true offline patch ! This game is doomed otherwise. There will be a "war" between modders and EA, and no one will win it in the end.

EDIT: for those who don't believe a such "war" could happen, remember when Cities XL was launched. In many points, EA is repeating the same conceptual mistakes that made Monte Cristo fail down definitively. Modders released tons of mods which monte cristo didn't want to see around on the web (mods that can unbalance multiplayer experience and/or unlock disabled features, and so ruin it for "legit" users), and in the end, they had to drop the whole online thing. Wouldnt be surprised if the same happens with simcity.

Guys, when you quit the game, let it sync the city and close the client. Don't press the Quit button. It will corrupt the sync.

Had same issue last week. I stopped using the Quit, and no problem ever since more than 30h now.

When you go to the process of quitting you will see that there is one dialog at the end saying that the game now syncs and has a single red button with text QUIT.

Nothing else. No other buttons.

You do not press that button. It will close the client when it sync successfully. If you press quit, there are chances next time you log into game to have corrupted city, because you stopped the sync.

That's not the cause, it's an issue server side, nothing to do with not exiting properly.

Happened to two of my cities now, and the last one the entire region is completely missing.

For the record there's a thread on the EA forums asking for details on incidents of missing cities: http://answers.ea.com/t5/Miscellaneous-Issues/Info-Request-Lost-Progress/td-p/731250

I'm pretty much done playing until I get some sort of indication that this problem has been fixed.

Yesterday I experienced this problem for the first time.  I had been playing all day, quit the game to have dinner, went back into the game, played for ~15 minutes and got the error.  When I did the rollback, I lost absolutely everything.

I was wondering: Would it help to quit and reload the city every hour or so instead of staying in the city all day?  Maybe it would do more complete syncs this way?

Secondly, when given the option to rollback or abandon, what happens if you select 'abandon'?  Could I have abandoned and reclaimed the city and not lost anything?

It may not help for having less frequent "corruptions", but it will definitively help if you need to rollback, because your rollback will be more up-to-date. You'll have to quit the whole game to sync btw, not just going back to the title screen.

Quitting and lauching the game again does basically what a "Save game" button would do. except it's not userfriendly and more restrictive. So, quitting regulary basically equals to saving game regulary.

When you're familiar with the mechanism, you should even be able to "abuse" it... I.E. Enforcing a rollback by raw-quitting without synching (ALT+F4) when it's not needed when you have an unexpected disaster on your city, just like you would "load a game" if that happened on a non-online game.

Once again, Thanks EA for that conceptual mess !

I also had issues with a rollback that took forever to resolve. I ended up quitting for the night and coming back the next day. Except that when I did, the city was totally gone. I believe that my rollback was because the program froze when trying to load my city and I had to kill the program in task manager. Even so... A rollback implies they are restoring your city to and earlier state, not deleting it all together.

Am I wrong here?

Well, I'm sorry to say that even though 'The Raellian Cloisterforks' have reappeared, they no longer participate on a regional level. According to the animations, all is OK, but once you look at the numbers, and the available 'plops', it is clear that they are communing from the great beyond.

And no, thank you, but I won't take the codes back.

This just happened to my region that I had spent the whole weekend working on...  Is there anything I can do to get it back?

Im having the same problem. message reads:

"Your City is not processed properly. Would you like to roll back your city to a working state or abandon your city?"

Im afraid if I roll back my city it will completely disappear. Some people suggested abandoning then trying again later how has that worked for you guys?

Many of the comments on here where unhelpful. You guys shouldn’t be so content with how fucking infuriating it is to lose hours of game play. Pleas post solutions not “that’s just the way it is”.

I just tried this. Abondoning the city. quiting all the way from the game and when i came back I reclimed the city and entered it. Nothing was missing.

Thank you for this suggestion. I could have lost everything by "Rolling back". you saved me from hours of wasted time and frustration my friend.
