Problems with water management

We were told that water producing buildings such as water tanks will provide infinite water,

when they are placed next to source of water, e.g. lakes, rivers et cetra.

This is logical, as pumping water off from some fresh water source is what major cities do in real life,

especially after they've been stablized by building dams.

They currently do not, water tables drop no matter how close you are to the source of water.

I assume this is a bug - or is it? Or were there any changes in plan? Or am I missing something?

P.S. In any case - water management system is broken : just to let you know.

It doesn't work. Water is non-renewable once city gets very large. That's a FACT for you.

(I will not accept water trade as solution, fundamentally it doesn't solve anything)

Afaik it's renewable if you place sewage treatment plant next to the big water pump with a filtration pump.

You dont even have to place filtration pump. Just place sewage treatment plant next to pump and youre good to go forever ;)

I am familiar with that trick, but It doesn't change the fact that water table decreases significantly.

Thats what I am not happy about.

Wouldn't there be a problem with ground pollution and polluted water if you did that?

I have seen this too.  The water table never replenishes.  I was thinking that the rain you sometimes see in the game would replenish the water table, but it rarely rains, and I am not sure if rain does replenish it.

No it wouldn't because I said sewage treatment plant not outflow pipe. Treatment plan is cleaning the sewage back into the water reserves and produces no ground pollution at all. Don't worry I have this tested on 8 cities and all of them are working well at least considering the water.  :)

i am able to confirm that this is not a solution. maybe is lowering the process but it is not stopping it.no pollution on the ground, no sickness level increased but the water is still going away fast.

and I am sick already of the yellow " water " button. and not to mention that all I played today I lost because of the server connection being down. so.. I had so many expectations from this game and now I am feeling tricked and fooled. but for sure it is not worthy for 80 euro and now I seeing SC4 as a master piece.

What are you talking about ? YES this is the solution and YES it works infinitely.

Of course the most of the map gets dry pretty quick, but just next to the treatment plant, you'll have a full-blue zone of water, and it'll allways stay.

If that don't work for you, you probably put your pumps too far from your treatment plants, put them JUST next to them, and expand both perpendicularry from the road. It should work. You can even replenish fully dried zone with this.

I will repeat : it is making it SLOWER but it is not a solution. the same city with 110k people, NO CHANGES in the city. water consumption increasing all the time, adviser always saying that I am running out of water, and YES i have the treatment plant  near the water pump and THERE IS NO full blue water area as you can see in the image. and when I started to write this post under the water pump was water for 16 months. now is just 13.. so..

I think you're facing a bug here... Your layout is correct and SHOULD lead to infinite water around your treatment plants. i'm still fullblue around my treatment plants in my 420k citizens city, and when I have setup the treatment plant + pumps, water was almost white where it was...

So i'd say either you're facing a bug, either the "infinite water" phenomenon depends on how much water you have in the map (I mean, with the ressource-bars when you choose your city spot in the region view) (my city was built on a spot with the "Water" bar full.

Try setting this up in another city of your region to confirm it.

EDIT: Just thinking about something after posting the message... Are you selling water to other cities ? Cause if so, not all of your water goes back to your treatment plants, so it would seem logical that not all of your water is treated, and so, not fully going back into the soil. leading to some lose and progressive depleting.

I can confirm the solution with Sewage Treatment Plant near Water Pumping Station.

I has the same problem with water dry fast. A search on google about this problem brought me to this topic and I followed the instruction. My problem is completely solved. Infinite water.
