How come there aren't any Class Action Law Suits yet?

Don't know but this online all the time isn't looking so good...

Just got kicked out of my game because the game can't communicate with their EA/ORIGIN servers, my internet connection is working fine because I'm writing this post, but EA/ORIGIN servers are down, and it won't let me play the game :P

If you buy a product for $90 after tax, isn't there a REASONABLE expectation that you can play it whenever you want...

If there isn't a class action, someone should get on it...maybe with a class action.

That being said, it's not a bad game :P if you get over the small map sizes, and that you can't really build realistic cities lol...

Because most people don't realise they can do it... also its a lot of effort over a single game.

It would most likely also kill SimCity franchise for good. Although im starting to think we won't see a sequel anyway which makes me sad.

Read the Terms of Agreement you agreed to when you clicked "I agree!"

Server issues are built into the terms, thus shielding EA from lawsuits.

You can't even sue Sony over PS3 updates bricking your system.

It's day 1! How could there be a class action lawsuit 24 hours after the game releases? You guys have some crazy expectations.

There was a law suit battle against that. And if the product is below a standard people paid for in EU that is enough for a law suit, perhaps not in USA but EU we have certain rights. Agreements or not.

But i agree with Daekano

And to clarify:

EA haven't done anything illegal. Not even close.

These things happen.

Should they: No! Game releases should be better than this. But they do. And they will. Go to the pub :-)

This reminds me of the people who wanted to sue Bioware because not EVERY choice they made in the mass effect games influenced the ending. You know what's even better then suing game developpers? Waiting 1 lousy week after launch and reading some reviews that came out that week before buying a game.

PS3 updates don't brick systems  it is technically impossible for software to break hardware, considering there are 80 million ps3's, nits not surprising a system on its last legs dies during or after a system update. This belief that updates break system is ignorance at its finest,.

Sony did brick PS3's if you jailbroke them. And were silly enough to connect to the playstation network. But that is a totally different thing to the SimCity situation.

LMAO sure.............Proof?  If that were factual sony would indeed be sued up the ying yang, the EULA only allows sony to cut you off from PSN, not brick your console which is indeed impossible through a software update.

It was 2 years ago they started to do ban waves, a couple of people got arrested and their computers seized. Geohotz faced them in court for ages. But then lulzsec hacked them big time.

Because that would only perpetuate the world view that Americans sue too often for the dumbest things. Get a refund if you don't like it.

Since the game relies on the servers to play, when and not if EA removes support for it, you'd be fine that you can't play the game no more?

Has this ever been addressed by EA/Maxis? some people actually play games for decades example sc4...

With sports games it's different because, when they remove support for a title you still can play offline with your friends...

I don't like simcity going away, but that means no more bad games! YAAAAAAH..... I meant to see NOOOO ( I really mean yay. I mean, are there any more good games coming from EA!? 4 bad games in a row, including the societies expansion.)

It is possible to brick hardware via software.  The BIOS is a perfect example of this.  If you flash your BIOS and the update fails, you better have a means to roll that back or it's the end of that motherboard.  I have a computer that is still waiting on me to fix it because the BIOS update killed the motherboard.

So yeah, you can use software to brick hardware.

As for the issue of suing people over a rough launch, that is rather ridiculous.

You could sue, but you'd lose because the EULA protects EA.

Or, you could just be smart enough not to pay the ridiculous pre-order price and deal with the inevitable server issues as the game finds its feet.  Maxis doesn't exactly have a history of initially releasing bug-free games.
