    I wonder who makes decisions at maxis 1 PM pacific time is the optimal time to apply an update... oh okay there... 4 hours later, It's now 8pm Eastern, after a long day people go home eat dinner, and want to play SC and can't... thank you Maxis, thank you for your small maps, thank you for your always on requirements and your 1PM updates... What's wrong with a 1am Update or a 2am update... another fubar moment brought to you by maxis...
  4. Park and Ride question

    The problem with Park and Rides at the entrance is because of the dumb AI, and game logic, your tourists will jump on a bus, and possibly go to commercial shopping rather than to a an attraction, or to a expo center. Because the bus at the stop can go anywhere, Back to the point that we have no controls over the stupid buses...(bus routes!!!) I had a city where the first road into the city forked right to my expo center and I had a tram with two stops that way I didn't have to rely on stupid ai, or game logic. Forced the game to go to only possible two stops.
  5. Buses....

    The funny thing is I CAN'T believe Maxis actually concluded this will be how buses work... The testers tested it and said yeah this bus logic is tight... It's funny how they didn't stop and take a look at how buses work IRL, or how they work in other games like CXL or even Cities In Motion 2! Bus Routes and Bus Schedules!!! Because maybe, just maybe some routes need more buses... Because maybe just maybe some times need more buses (rush hour, and pre and post events) Other funny thing is they have blogs on their traffic logic, like it's some great algorithm...if the traffic was that dumb, I'd be embarrased and working hard in the background trying to fix it rather than blogging the mechanics of it, showing how truly dumb it is... Then again it could be a ploy make people so pissed off about traffic then release a RUSH HOUR DLC

    The wait time should actually have gone up, because you are adding more buses that hold up traffic, doing silly u turns and random pick ups, getting stuck to each other IRL adding more buses would decrease wait times, but this isn't IRL, this is The Sims City 2013
  7. Park and Ride question

    Almost everything driving related is broken, good thing the game doesn't need good driving AI, or a internet connection or servers that aren't busy to play, or service vehicles not dissapearing on you to play... Anyhow... Park and rides gets the cars off the roads so that would mean less traffic, if only the stupid buses actually worked, like say if we set bus routes, then you can have more buses on certain routes, and more buses at certain times like rush hours or more bus pre events, and post events...but this is The Sims City 2013, so it's dumbed down and not that sophisticated. I kind of make my roads like a winding S, A T section is 3 ways of traffic a S is 2 was my logic I would have all my residents in the S, and at the end of the S that leads to my main road arteries I would line up a bunch of park and rides 4 or 5 so far. Since there is one exit out of the neighbourhood, to where ever they are going in the city I'm forcing them to use the park and rides...(Don't forget to place them on the RIGHT side of the road, I don't think the sims would make a u turn just to use it, but they will turn into if it's in the same direction they are going, but then again I might be giving them more brain cells then they actually have *sigh*

    I'd name it, The Sims City 2013 "Dumbed way down for the non SC4 base" would be the marketing campaign...
  9. Thanks for the heads up on CXL... I gave up on SC2013 for now, too many in game bugs absolutely ruined it... I really liked some aspects of CXL, big maps bus routes, more realistic looking than SC2013... but it wasn't as (addictive) or fun as SimCity CXL 34 hours played. SC2013 210 hours played... I'll definitely keep a eye out for any upcoming CXL releases, Cities in motion 2 looks interesting too, though it seems to be purely about managing traffic It'd be interesting if CIM2 gets into the City Building space...
  10. EA sympathizers will say lack of sales has to do with people stuck in traffic, unable to get to the store to purchase a copy... Why's there so much garbage uncollected in my city? "oh because the 4 garbage trucks are doing circles around a medium sized avenue rather than collect garbage... I've also had 29 moving trucks doing circles, I'm surprised it didn't cause a traffic jam First there were server bugs so a lot of people couldn't play... Now that people are playing they are finding so many in game bugs, that it frustrates them to not want to play... I've never lost a city because of the server, but I've quit many cities because of in game bugs...sucks when you put a lot of hours into a city, then have it ruined because of stupid bugs...
  11. Well considering the game isn't finished or polished, I don't think they should be working on DLC's... Their first DLC should be "Bed Bugs"

  13. I plop down a clinic, and I noticed there wasn't a ambulance in the front... I plop down a garage and still no ambulance... wtf? I exit to main, reload the game, still no ambulance... I quit the game, reload SC, still no ambulance... Anyone know when the SimCity beta ends? - Buses don't go away, when you close or bulldoze bus depot's, so you got dumb AI bus drivers doing crazy random things, blocking and taking up traffic... - Delivery truck not making deliveries, they're disappearing as well...

"Traffic issues tend to be more PEBKAC than anything." LOL, like the garbage trucks do crazy stuff while picking up garbage? rather than orderly take out house by house, street by street? How's that PEBKAC? Not all my garbage gets picked up, adding more trucks didn't help because they still don't get to it all and that just causes more traffic problems what's the point of having all the trucks following single file (initially) and now they have a fix, the trucks leap frog each other blahahah... How about a real fix, each truck takes a street, and goes down that street from one end to the other taking each house one by one. Not take one house, pass 5 houses, make some crazy turn head to the opposite side of town and start their craziness. "Traffic issues tend to be more PEBKAC than anything." LOL, like the lack of bus AI? I put the bus stops down, I want them to take a certain route...why do they go all over the place not do proper coverage...what's the solution add more buses? great now I have more buses taking up more traffic... pfft... It's not a PEBKAC thing, The game's AI is nonsense...
  15. If they valued their shareholders they would release better games? not necessarily... They would create a system that locks users in and that would require users to buy DLC's to make the game somewhat enjoyable... Create a base game release DLC's After 3 or 5 years, release a new game, make all the old DLC's not compatible. Sell new game Sell same DLC's but which are compatible with the new version. another example would be their sport franchises, make small incremental upgrades, kill off all the older versions, force users to re buy just to play multiplayer for current year...
