  1. Like someone said above, I do believe power and water will eventually reach remote locations but it could take a really long time. You might consider saving a bunch of money and restoring the original road network. Make sure your power, water & sewer are well in excess of what you need and stay on top of them. And then just be really patient.
  2. Cool dude, nice design. Thanks for sharing.
  3. How about a pic of your awesome road network?
  4. Sim months and sim days?

I'm also wondering this. It's definitely not 30:1 as I would expect, but it also doesn't feel like 1:1. I'm too tired to play right now to find out.
  5. I hope this is real and they're really working on it. Would love to see them address pathfinding of utility and mass transit vehicles.
  6. I had a meltdown too even though my population was well educated and it said education level was safe. 4 out of 5 graduation caps were green. But my tech level had only one out of three yellow gears. I think that was my problem. Radiation is no small problem. I think there should be more warning before a meltdown so we can safely shut it down.
  7. It's definitely SC2k where the arcologies lift off. I never played sim earth.
  8. "The exodus has begun." If I recall, in SC2000 they would launch if you had a bunch of them. Maybe if you built multiple arcologies in a 16 city region, they would launch. I would hope for an epic cutscene if I've slaved away building multiple arcologies and they all took off. Someone should totally try this and report back!
  9. Innovative City Designs

I have found medium density roads intersecting avenues to work better, faster traffic flow, since there are no stop lights You need T junctions for U-turns as well. And right turns are faster than left In my city, most of the people use the Park and Ride and take a bus to work/shop, to the station or the metro buses to the other cities it seems Even at peak hour traffic rarely gets into the red, and if they do it doesn't pile up and grid lock. Off course, things will change at 100+K population Thanks for posting this CoolColJ. I haven't been very successful in creating efficient traffic flow but I'm going to try some of your techniques.
  10. Trash not getting picked up

Turn on the garbage data layer and watch the system work for a day. The problem is that all the trucks start in the same place and collect the nearest garbage instead of starting in different areas of the city. They stop working at night so they may not be reaching the far side of the city. The solution is to add more trucks and and improve traffic conditions so they can get where they need to go.
  11. There are definitely some bugs yet to be worked out in region play. Yesterday was the first time trading between cities started working for me. But the last thing you mentioned about the coal I don't think is a bug. I think you should leave it as "use locally" but then go to region view and send the resources to the city with the coal plant.
  12. Innovative City Designs

Looks great. Wondering if you can add a screenshot during rush hour? I've found that if I'm not careful when designing the road layout, I can get major traffic jams even with small populations and high density avenues and streets.
  13. I believe that is normal behavior. Supplement your recycling centers by also importing plastic and alloy to keep the processor factory running.
  14. starting a region!

Invite me please: simoleonator. I'll take any type of city. Something with plenty of real estate preferably.
  15. This is utter heartbreaking.

I preordered in June because I wanted to support Maxis. I've been lucky to have no technical problems so far. Had I experienced technical problems, I would have been disappointed of course. But I wouldn't have been ripping the game completely and giving one star reviews. I would have waited To see how things panned out. Patience is a virtue people.
