I just got home from work and I believe from checking through google that either est or pst it's past midnight and I logged in to my origin account and the game tile is still greyed out. So I guess no predownload today.

As it turns out, the information on amazon.com was wrong. It now says: "Note: this game will not be available for pre-load prior to launch."

I guess I will cancel the pre-order if neither of my machine will work. I am planning a HTPC build sometime this year. so maybe I should wait hate to waste $60.

I am sad now. my HTPC will be an 6 or 8 core AMD FX. I am not going to rush a build for a game.

I will report whether the game runs or not once I dl it. I have a laptop, but it was only bought in 2010 and has 'premium graphics' whatever that implies. It's a good laptop at any rate so hopefully it'll run. My main concern is the 12 gig dl. 12 gig is a lot to dl.

I have a Intel T1400 it's a good laptop Celeron dual core 1.7ghz. I have no idea why sites report you need 4GB of ram when Maxis has 2GB listed for min. I am not rich and it will be at least until end of the year before I can start to build any type of machine. I hope to start buying parts in June or July.

My laptop has a sticker on it that reads:

'Intel Core 17 inside', 'ATI Mobility Radeon Premium Graphics Supports Microsoft DirectX 11'

Dunno what that means obv, but it sounds goodish? fair to middling at any rate i daresay.

Intel i7 is like the best Intel has right now. Simcity should fly with that. I would say any i chip will rock i3, i5, i7.

Cool, then that's ok then. Mind you it's download speed i'm concerned about. My internet is strong but sometimes cuts out temporarily, so I hope it can be paused/resumed

Don't take my word go here http://www.game-debate.com/ set up a free account then click "Can I Run It" then pick Simcity from drop down menu then your cpu , ram and video. Then it will tell you. It gave me a red X so no need for me to spend $60 right now.

I was able to get my pre-order from GreenMan Gaming awhile back for $40.  However, my confirmation email said they won't release the key until March 5th!?  Anyone else buy from them?

I got an email from GreenMan Gaming saying "they have been in contact with EA and preloading will no longer be an option....the key will be available on release date"   o.O

Hey randall ill tell you from experience that the stated 2 gb ram and the intel E6500 dual core with a nvidia card would be the very bare minimum , with those specs the game would be very laggy and miserable to play those are the specs of my old computer and let me tell you it sucked hard. Even the specs above are way above what you stated you have.

Origin states that the ideal processor is a i5 processor with hd 4000  (built in) would be sufficent to play ( i agree ), as i have a i7-3770k and its no problem at all.

I hate to give you bad news but better to save that 60 $ for a i5 and mobo and you could build a nice pc with good parts around a i5 for a few hundred and it will last, and have much upgrade-ability.

As far as i know the specs have pretty much remained the same ( as far as i know ) from the beginning it would be a heavy load on the processor and they have reccomended the i5 for low end processor.

If you are on a budget, AMD is the only way to go to me, so much cheaper than intel and still great for the money, such as an 8 core, 4GHz AMD for under $200 while I7s can go for $300+ and are slower and less cores. Not sure where you search for parts, but if you are slowly gonna buy the parts, I find it best to keep an eye on tigerdirect.com and find when they have deals. Although if it's gonna take more than a couple months to get the entire build, it's probably best to save the money in a seperate bank account (easiest for me at least) because by the time you get the last piece the first part you bought is 3/4 of the price you paid.

The price for performance sweet spot for gaming is I5 2500k.  That is a mid range system.  I would take an I3 over the older AMD cheap buys.  I used to be an AMD only buyer for many years, but Intel has dropped their prices enough to show better value for the money.  And that is why I still want AMD to succeed.  They keep Intel in check.

Damn, I wanted to avoid to download that much so I ordered the CD. 12G is hell too much to download.
