- City tile size - I've played the beta its really not an issue for having fun

- Origin - Whats wrong with origin exactly?

- Non connecting cities in regions - The cities are connected?  If you mean contigous tiles I dont want my friends city's bordering mine that close thanks

- Kiddy graphics - Your interpretation.  I prefer them over the dour SC4

- Non reply to the issues brought up by the old SC community - Hopefully the old SC community who flame this game will just crack on with SC4 and leave the rest of us to enjoy the game.  To the rest I look forward to seeing you in-game if multiplayer is your bag

- Microtransactions - Again, whats the issue?  If small updated content is available thats not worthy of an expansion why shouldn't I pay a small fee if I want the stuff now?

- Anything really -

Where are your excuses?

Thanks.

Well, he's right in so far as many people answered criticism with "Oh, there's plenty of time left... don't write off this game yet, they can still change a lot... don't criticise XYZ before you have actually played the game", and so forth. In more than one instance, I have read posts whose meaning amounted to "Everybody shut up - you are only entitled to say anything after having played the final game yourself." (Unless, of course, it was praise. ;) )

I remember explaining myself in one of these threads why I didn't share the optimism some people had - I had the impression that the aspects criticised were rooted too deeply in the game's fundamental concept and engine to simply disappear after some more refinement and polishing. So far I have never read any actual arguments to counter this opinion, only the mentioned "give them time, you'll see" - but no actual arguments. If anything, insults ("whiners", "complainers", and worse).

Now, when the game is close to a release, it turns out that in practically no case the criticised aspect was superseded by reality, i. e. became irrelevant because the game had evolved meanwhile. That's the factual truth in Essex' post.

The fact that none of the points that were criticised bother you personally because you have a different taste / preference is actually totally unrelated to the topic of this thread and doesn't make this any less true.

On the other hand, I'll admit that the thread itself boils down to a public "HA! Told you so!", the value of which can probably be doubted. Maybe it's stuff better thought than posted - not least because it's somewhat confrontational (as evidenced in your reply, which contains a direct attack directed at Essex and is, as such, not that constructive, either).

You might as well save your breathe here. Your talking to a demographic that not only will buy anything but are too proud to admit why their projections were wrong of why at least some of these things were not fixed. You know why they dont want to bring that up? Because it shows they are not discerning at all. Telling someone it will be fixed dont worry implies that you will buy the thing based on the belief that it will be better than the current state.

My excuse is that regions are a joke.  Your city is just that small area, you can't connect your tile sizes together to form one big city, all you get is that small land.  You can't control your highway, you can't control your railroad, you have no freedoms in building your city the way you want it.  All you get is some simulation of one city, but that is going to get old very quickly.

Correct on both counts. We don't need this type of "in your face" type of stuff from any quarter.
