I hope to NOT let this die like i have other CJ's of mine...I have perfected this region for about a month.  I had to find the PERFECT map, the location to start the city, and after much work, i started a city.  The region has about 100 000 people, but there is plenty of room for expansion.  One MILLION people seems like a good goal.

I used the map of Victoria, BC (I also used the name of the city itself).  It is a perfect map for what I had in mind with inland areas, plenty of shoreline, a beautiful harbour and even some islands.  I will use MAINLY British names (Windsor, Manchester, etc.). Although the city is on a VIctoria map and is called VIctoria, it is NOT based on the actual city at all.

If you are against cheats/modds, this CJ is NOT for you.  I am not the kind of person who wants to make a city with challenges.  My goal is to make a beautiful, aesthetic, semi-realistic city.

Starting about halfway through the second page, all pictures are hosted OFFSITE

Here is the region so far.
/idealbb/files/Victoria_sc41.JPG
The town to the far left is more or less a test to see what i could do with a small town...it will soon be deleted and replaced with the final copy.

Victoria Harbour(center) is the planned main commercial center of the region and high class destination.  It has a beauriful canal system lined with parks.

St. George is a wealthy suburburban area with a large IHT population.

I will show more pictures in over the day....

Anyways, I will start this CJ with a question.  Where should i build the Main, International Airport?...Commercial development has hit a stall ever since the landing strip was overcrowded.  I will use joerg;s airport pack to build a sweet airport, but i have no clue WHERE to build it...It is necessary to any future development of the city, so before i can start the CJ itself, I would really like to see what a good location would be for...

Queen Elizabeth International Airport.

My idea would be to put the main airport on an island connected with bridge and subway would look awsome to i think.

This is looking great! I hope to see some close ups soon. About QEIA. I would like to see a manmade island out in the harbor or even ocean connected with the mainland with bridge. This is how many airports ar built, like Hong Kong and Boston to name a couple.

EDIT: Wow ravenlord, we had the same idea at the same time.

    Hey,

It would be very helpful to see where the city squares are. That way we could suggest an area for the airport. I would draw up where the airport should be.

    hehe yup we sure did.
I just think an airport on a man made island you could even use tunnels instead of a bridge, heh that would be really awsome looking.29.gif

Thanl you guys for the comments...I really appreciate them.

i really like the idea for a tunnel to an island...probably going to do that...but where...that is up to you guys.

Here is a little sneak peak of the City of Victoria Harbour.

    /idealbb/files/vic_002.JPG
Here is the Canal District Business Park.  It is across the Canal from the main Downtown, but seeing it is so close to wealthy residences, many businesses such as Futa Consulting and Walton Plaza have made it their home.  Rent is MUCH higher here than other office locatoins in the city, but it definitley has its benefits.

    /idealbb/files/vic_003.JPG
The prestigeous (sp?) Boardwalk.  Lots here start at a whopping $1 000 000, and can reach $10 000 000.  It isnt cheap to live in paradise.

    /idealbb/files/vic_004.JPG
The downtown Skyline from across the Canal...Downtown has about 30 000 out of 40 000 commercial jobs in Victoria Harbour alone.

Hope to hear your comments and votes on where the airport should go...

The canal-like lakes look beautiful and the downtown core is looking good even with the small- medium buildings. I'll say it's good.

I would put the airport on an island to the west of your seaport where your elevated rail(Monorail?) ends at.I would take the road or avenue there and turn it into a highway that connects to the airport and your seaport as well.
Really like this CJ so far keep it up.19.gif

    Hey man,

I have the perfect place for your airport. Make the island bigger if ya want (actually make it a bit bigger) Here is the perfect place.
    /idealbb/files/A.jpg
    Hope that helps.

thanks MTLT i am going to use that suggestion..

the little town is going down, and i am leveling that mountain because it is ugly.  I will make another small town WAY north and connect it by highway to the main Urban areas.

The zoning for the same square as QUIE is yet to be decided.

Very nice seaside residential areas, and I agree with Ravenlord, Airports and Seaports should be accessible with highways, and, if possible, ONLY highways. You need them in a city but don't need the added pressure on your normal road network.44.gif

If you're having trouble with the island idea hows about building your airport on the hill where that avenue cuts diagonally towards the town. That would be closer to the centre of Victoria also. I like airports built on hills, London Luton is one example. Just a suggestion.42.gif

My guess is you are underestimating the true scale of an airport. So i dug out some pics of a few of the island airports i created so you can get some ideas.

    Anyways back to the updates...

Grand Opening of Queen Elizabeth International Airport

    /idealbb/files/vic_006.JPGhttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files/vic_006.jpg>
This morning at precisley 7:36, The first (passenger carrying) plane touched down at Queen Elizabeth International, or as it as known by most QEIA.  This is expected to bring a new boom to the City of Victoria, both economically and socially.

Development has been scarce latley, as one look at the practically ancient Skyline suggests, but with the coming of QEIA, several new apartement complexes and office buildings are planned for development.

Along with the construction of the airoport, will come the demolishing of the old landing strip that used to service Victoria.  The construction of the airport is ongoing, and a staff of landscapers has been hired to add parks to make the airport an even more beautiful place.

The main terminal buiklding.  The left half is service for all Domestic Flights, and is primarily served by Simnation Airways (It is a Simnation Air hub airport), and the right half is the International Terminal, with main airlines such as United Airlines, Air Canada, American Airlines, Quantas, Air New Zealand, British Airways, and much much more.
    /idealbb/files/vic_007.JPGhttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files/vic_007.jpg>

A map showing the location of QEIA in realtion to the rest of the region.
    /idealbb/files/vic_005.JPGhttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files/vic_005.jpg>

Here is the other side of the airport.  QEIA has its own power plant.  Also you can see the need for parks and trees.

Breaking News: Victoria Chosen as site for 2007 Worlds Fair.

Victoria Citizens unite in joy as they have just announced Victoria has been chosen out of 5 finalist cities to host the 2007 Worlds Fair.  Toronto Canada, Houston USA, Beijing China, Melbourne Australia, and Mexico City Mexico have all been denied one of the biggest honours on the planet.

The official Worlds Fair Committee will be visiting the city next month to view the cities facilities.  The City of Victoria citizens have been asked to try to keep our city as clean as possible, and tehre will be many projects to prepare the city.

City Council has decided the location for the fair will be along the beautiful Queen Elizabeth Canals in the Harbour district.  The theme of the fair will be National History, so we can expect to see some beautiful works done on each pavilion.

Be sure to keep a look out for more updates!
