Train Fever and crowdsourcing

I have to say I was excited when I learned of Train Fever. But I'd like to see it's crowdsourcing attempt bring success. If it is able to meet its goal it would give me great hope for the potential crowdsourcing of Boomtown.

But something must be done to convince the developers to include more Transport Tycoon features, like the movement of cargo as well as including air and sea transit options. While I know the name Train Fever sort of narrows down what their focus is I hope they don't omit these options if they want to be a true successor to TTD.

The other thing to emphasize with the team is the need for modding support and a well documented back-end. These are the things investors can bring up, so if anyone outside the US can invest please do so and make your voice heard. There is only a few days left to invest, give me hope for their game as well as mine.

A $50k investment? Let's hope Boomtown can achieve that kind of sum.

I have vaguely heard of Train fever. I would certainly love to support BoomTown but I cannot seem to be able to post in its section anymore...

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

I invested 260 pounds in Train Fever. I am saving my money for BoomTown.

Looks like Civitas is stealing all the spotlight. This is far more convincing to support as it actually shows gameplay videos and screenshots. Here's to bumping this thread.

This needs more exposure!

I wish I could help but I am a US citizen.

Looks like Civitas isn't much after all. I lowered my pledge to a dollar. I aint raising it until I see something that shows real simulation. Anyone can plop a model and make simple UI buttons... He doesn't need 250,000 to do that.

I'm fine with its being JUST trains. CiM 2 is still the best out there as well as Simcity 4 for anything S-Bahn related though.

Actually the developers have repeatedly said that modding is supported and encouraged, and have talked about freight a number of times (forgive me if I don't go hunting down the quotes, they're real though, promise!). Apparently the focus is on passengers, but they are definitely including food and mail in response to freight requests, and are looking into expanding that. However, I'm not sure I agree with Buggi that:

something must be done to convince the developers to include more Transport Tycoon features, like the movement of cargo as well as including air and sea transit options

Cargo maybe, but I don't want to see a simple remake of TTD with nicer graphics, this is its own game. Likewise, air and sea - why? Its about trains. Maybe the realm of expansions but I think they are totally right to focus their efforts on trains for now. That's the game they set out to make, and that's the game that is so very close to becoming a reality. No need for air and sea at the moment, what they have now is a realistic and sensible approach to an entirely new IP.

Investors can view the 'inner circle' at Gambitious. For those who haven't invested I imagine leaks to the gaming press will transpire as time goes by.
