That is great news! Finally modding will open up to more people. I remember last year, some people would make models in 3DsMax 2012 then give them to people with 3DsMax 2008 to convert. I hope that Xyloxadoria will finally start making Cities XL mods.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

Yes...because the only thing this game needed was 50 more buildings and an unofficial community patch turned into an "official" patch...

Yep, as I expected, no addresses to any of the large technical issues, but unfortunately that's to be expected with FHI.

The new buildings interest me, and hopefully widening the compatibility for 3DS Max will make modding easier for more people.

I do think Soltan should be given some form of compensation for his work; since they're using it to make money and all...

In any case, CXL remains better than SimVillage by leaps and bounds, and the expanded modding capabilities offered to the community will hopefully expand the modding scene.

Thanks to mr-tom for confirming the news and clarifying stuff for the community. :)

Some cover art, btw:

I might buy the full version once I upgrade my second PC.

I may or may not buy it as a DLC (Platinum is being offered as such to customers who already own a previous CXL), depending on the price and whether or not I like the new buildings. Quite frankly, we have about 50 buildings made by the community coming out for free, so unless I really like what I see, I have no reason to buy it.

It is nice to see something new from Focus, however. Many wrote the franchise off as dead on the official development front, but I believe this shows FHI still has their eyes on it - probably due to the commitment of the fanbase demonstrated by the extraordinary efforts of the community. Whether or not they'll put forth a real effort to further fix/develop the game is yet to be seen, however.

Does this include everything from Cities XL 2011 and 2012? I already own XL 2011 but never bothered getting 2012 cause of the price.

I don't get it, so what's the difference between CXL 2011 and 2012? And what does this Platinum stuff do?

Good ol' Liberty Islands! Someday, I'll repost my old CJ.

From the vid I saw on Youtube Its the same as 2011 and 2012 (I have both) accept some annoying bugs. I could get it for 5 bucks but won't.

Im an avid city builder. I played Children of the Nile for my CB jones instead. I only hope Sime city 5 is worth it's weight in the deal.

Seriously, nobody should be buying this... every re-release of CXL for the past, what, 2 years or something has been a complete scam. The game needs serious optimization and bugfixes, the engine is inexcusably poor and should have never left beta.

I don’t get it, they sent me a email about CXLP, it did came
out of the blue and I didn’t know what it was and I was spent my lunch trying
to find out more info about it   , after watching the video, I still don’t get
it, it the same game with a new name,  why would I buy it?

I just got it for $4.50. I haven't played the past version I have enough to be as angry as I should about the technical issues; I see it as a way to hold me off until SC5 releases and has time to go down in price. In that regard, it seems like a decently invested $4.50 (though after reading comments after past version, I feel a bit bad about giving the company any amount of money).

So the memory leaks are still present with this one? No technical fixes over CXL 2012? :lost:

I'd gladly play $20+ for a performance fix that keeps the game from lagging to unplayability after a few minutes. Otherwise, not interested in even a <$5 expansion.

Focus should really consider starting work on a 'from-the-ground-up' CXL sequel. A decent, functioning, offline-singleplayer citybuilder in the style of something between CXL and SC4 would likely be of interest to those of us who are a little perturbed with that forthcoming EA title I've forgotten the name of. :whatevs:

They can't fix memory leaks without re-writing the entire game give up hope on that the less dissapointed you will be.

Just pray they will invest in a new re-design for a future cities XL some day.

It is strange that so many people have problems with lag in Cities XL 2012, because i dont.

I only get lag if i use the windowsbutton during a game. As long as i stay in game i dont get any lag at all. I can play for hours on the same city without problems. I do have a powerfull computer, but again, the lag only came when i used the windowsbutton to open up a browser or anything like that.

For me this is the best citysimulator ever, but i do hope Simcity will be much better.
