I am loooking for a tutorial to "block"/"stop" certain buildings from growing. Are there any tutorials for this? I searched Google but found nothing.

EDIT: I already have the Maxis Blocker Mod by DuskTrooper. I want to create my own "blocker" mods.

Dusktrooper's "block all Maxis" mod will take care of the original in-game content. It has different folders, if you want to block specific types and/or wealth levels (for instance, if you wanted to prevent any Maxis CS$ from growing, etc.) I use it as part of the testing of my BATs, to see their growth. I also think there's a mod out there somewhere that blocks a specific building (Wren Insurance, I think).

GOOD TEXTURES ARE MADE, NOT FOUND.
(I get tired of saying that in BAT threads.)

"Never keep up with the Joneses. Drag them down to your level." - Quentin Crisp
"I believe in talking behind peoples' backs. That way, they hear it more than once." - Fran Lebowitz
"Ordinary morality is for ordinary people." - Aleister Crowley
"No one ever said on their deathbed, 'Gee, I wish I had spent more time alone with my computer.' " - Dani Bunten Berry

Just to clarify I already have that mod by DuskTrooper. I want to block custom content buildings.

Couldn't you just remove the lot files from your plugin folder?

I myself am having similar issues as the OP, where removing the files is not an option. Despite how I love mattb's work, his houses are just too prolific in my suburbs, I'd like to give my own lats a chance to grow, but it is difficult. I have mattb's files hidden somewhere deep inside my plugins folder and cannot find them despite dozens of searches. Inf act, they might be datpacked.

It's very tedious to put "LOT" files, in and out of your Plugins folder (and there is a high chance they will get lost or deleted by accident). I just want to put my personal blocker mods in a folder in my Plugins. As Bipin said, sometimes it is not practical to remove the lots . If there is any tutorial on this, that would be very helpful.

The simplest way is to create a copy of the lot file, then change the growth stage in the LogConfig exemplar to 0xFF with Reader. Just make sure that the blocker version of the lot file loads last.

    Thanks for your reply.

Does this create a .dat file? Will the file be a mod or an .sc4lot?

It will remain in the same format as the original. Reader doesn't change that when you edit a file.

It does get a little more complicated with DAT files because you only need to duplicate the lot files, but DAT files usually have everything inside them. I usually copy the lot file(s) into a new blank DAT, then save the new file with a name that will load after the original. You can't go wrong adding "z_" to the original name.
