We need more Forum Gamers!

Seriously, new faces are rare there. We really need new people to play  the 'above me' games. Rating the same persons avatar 10s of times can get boring. So if your reading this, click on the link in my sig to the forum games and check them out, post a few times, mabye you'll like them.

I used to play forum games alot, but they tend to become boring...probably because it's always the same people!

It does seem that fourm games seem to revolve around 10 or 12 people at the moment , with only the occasional different person posting in there.... I guess people arnt interested in them any more

Oh and everyone , a high post count doesnt make you cool  [ unless you are DT ]
spamming the fourm games so your name appears on the whole of page one , well that jsut makes you look like a fool

Yes, the forum games are a good place to get up your post count. It's the only place where you can post 6 times on one page without being acused of spamming. I got up my post count there but that was because I hated the Dweller label.

On SimCity Central your post count does not raise in forum games which is a good idea, perhaps they should do it here if it is possible?

 

I woudent show off that playing forum games raises your post count and you were trying to get/get rid of a certain type of member label or freezy type bad things will happen.

Post count or not, I wouldn't play the forum games if I didn't enjoy them. I usually skip the ones for which I don't have a good comment. The post count is just a nice side effect.

Now, we still need more gamers to make it more fun.

I feel that the forum games with all the fun in them (and they are fun)are a place where people find a way to spam up their posts. I think most new members get mostly attracted to the forum games due to this reason while fewer and fewer elder members do and so as the new members grow up they use the forum games less and less...this is all at least my point of view from most great posters including myself, but hey I enjoy the forum games and do post in them here and there

HOWEVER: There has been an idea for a novel forum game lurking in the back of my mind for quite some time. It would take ST all the way back to its roots... But I may decide it's not worth the effort so it's no use getting your hopes up.

I think the problem with the forum games is that there is just so much of the same thing.  The Avatar Above Me.  The Signature Above Me.  The Picture Above Me.  The Member Label Above Me.  What Voice Do You Hear With The Avatar Above You?  Honest Thing About the Person Above You.  The Screen Name Above Me.

 

And so on and so forth.

 

Not to say that it's bad, but the only games that really get a lot of support are the ones that are really new and original.  Picture War.  Mystery Building.  And so on and so forth.

and to those that say's that the games are spam.......well....... you 100% right....

but still, they are the fun sort of spam.... and without them ppl will just spam everywhere....

if it takes to mach bandwidth from ST then delete all the old games....

like those from 04' 03' that just getting dust on the dark pages of the games....

and also some games have more then 100 pages..... if its to mach then just delete the first 50....

I'm a long time Forum Gamer and I always enjoy playing it because its fun and it sometimes show the fun side of a member. More consistant players would be great.

I quite agree with Yellowlab, some of the game themes have gotten a little repetative.

The one game genera I do wish would have more participation in is the mystery games. The problem is so many of the old gamers have dissapeared, along with the fact that many are updated so intermittantly, and their are so few new participants. It's really a shame.

Well just look at my post count, yes i was an extreme forum gamer too, but about a year ago, i became bored of that and looked for alternatives. Nevertheless i still post in the Forum Games every now and then.

You guys don't know what forum games posts do a Database specially SQL based ones.
Small posts that have small number of characters are not optmized when stored because it has few words...or algarisms as SQL recognizes it.

For you to see posts and threads in numerous orders such as date, author, topic, etc the script in this case IdealBB Board (ST forum software) makes a call to a place where all the information is stored and every bit of information is labeled, ordered, etc...so that you can view the forum in numerous ways, but whats my point in here.

If a thread has 1900 posts and every page shows only 25 posts that means the script will have to make more than 50 calls to view the 1900 posts...sometimes posts have large signatures, images, avatars, and other info that is also requested by the script.

That means forum games use bandwidth, has repeated posts, small info stored, and a large amount of spammy sigs.

Yes unfortunatley they are bandwidth dominating and a lot of peaple do only play them to bopost there post count. I still go and play once in a while thougth.
