So SkiGeek, EAGCE and others fr Maryland:

Have you guys ever eaten crabcakes or are you just weirdos?3.gif
Oh and how do you pronounce the largest city in MD and also the capitol city
(the second one I often wonder how similar it might be how Hoosier pronounce their capitol & largest city)31.gif

quote>
Of course I've eaten crabcakes!  I make a great crab dip for tailgating parties too.  I thought everyone used Old Bay seasoning until I ran across some shrimp in Colorado and found out that no one knew what it was.
They say that people who grow up in Maryland don't remember cracking open their first crab since it happens at such a young age.  I have no memory or knowledge of how I learned but I do remember teaching my parents, who were born and raised in Pennsylvania.  and, being Pennsylvanians, they taught me to say Bal-ti-more, which obviously isn't correct.

quote>

You go to football games, SkiGeek?  From your avatar I never would have guessed.  You need to get one that better reflects your personality.  Don't say the same about me though, mine actually is a pretty good representation of me--I'M WEIRD.29.gif

Well I guess thats another weird thing for me. I dont eat crabcakes. I like crab meat, although I dont eat it much. Cracking open crabs is too much work for me. 18.gif I eat more shrimp than crabs. But of course you HAVE to have old bay! I couldnt imagine eating it without.

I pronounce Annapolis: Uh-na-puh-liss

I dont know if that is weird or not. 42.gif

I pronounce Baltimore as: Ball-more or Ball-mer or sometimes Ball-ih-more

'ih' like the sound in it. Wasnt sure how to spell that out.

Depends on how fast I am talking. I never pronounce the 't'.
If I talk fast, Ball-mer, slow is Ball-ih-more, then Ball-more is in between.

Is that weird? 3.gif

Yes, I go to football games.  I have season tickets to the Skins.   Back some 20+ years ago, I managed to buy tickets now and then from a friend.  It was during Joe Gibbs

I pronounce Baltimore letter by letter and I have only had one crab cake before but I love crabs though I don't eat them very often. My grandparents are going to have a party soon with crabs, lots and lots crabs25.gif. Another wierd thing is about me is I hate most every sports. I hate mostly the more physical ones. I don't hate them because of that, I don't mind running or being active, I just don't like sports.

As for beeing active, im not really in to that eather, im exausted after walking up 2 floors of stairs in school. and i still have that 3km walk to and from the busstop everyday... twice...

@leonel1982: I have an aunt who is so uptight she could open a Pepsi with her butt. And she lives near Portland. It must make her nuts.

@xiziz: Nice to live in the guesthouse. Must be great to have the privacy. So you're only annoying the neighbors then? Ha ha, they probably think you're terribly weird.

@Joesocwork: So what's this about crab cakes all of the sudden? Typical Maryland food is it? Anyone from the South ever taken to noodling catfish? It was one of my favorite pasttimes as a kid.

@mayormommy: Doesn't sound weird at all to catch your own crabs. Sounds like fun. Oh, if only I wasn't allergic to hard shellfish... 8.gif

@timotheus4: I believe Joesocwork asked you about the capital of Maryland, yes? What's all this about Baltimore? Well, at least you threw in a little bit about Annapolis.

@Skigeek: Somehow, I have a difficult time imagining you throwing a tailgate party. 18.gif But that's mostly because the only image I have of you to go by is the one in your avatar. And I know that's not even you, since she's a 1970's TV show character who's name I can't remember...

@hym: So that's your representative avatar is it? Looks Star Warsy. And you said you've never seen Star Wars. 47.gif

@Eastwinn & xiziz: I hate playing all sports too and I'm not much of a fan of participating in general competition either. But I do have an excuse for the sports part. I can't hit a ball with ANYTHING. As for the others, I'm just lazy.

But there is one sport I just love to watch: SUMO! Weird?

zelgadis, Mama's Family, the early 80's TV show with Carol Burnett is the name of the show I think.

I'm laughing at the idea of that mama character throwing a tailgate party or even playing football.

I throw a fine tailgate party!  Not all tailgate parties involve college kids drinking Budweiser.  Some of them involve middle school kids tossing a football around or mature professionals having wine, chili, and crab dip.  I'll admit it was kinda weird having a tailgate party back during the sniper attacks with helicopters circling overhead and cops patrolling the woods around the parking lot.  But, most of the time, it's not a problem at all.

and if going to a tailgate party during a sniper attack is weird, add that to my list.

A little more about Annapolis:  Did you know that Annapolis is the only state capital without a museum?  They say (and I agree) that the city itself is a museum.  You can still walk down main street and see the colonial port town it used to be.  Did that a lot when I was on jury duty a while ago.

Yeah, 'specially tha closer to Ball'mer yu git.

In D.C. the city, a big specialty is mambo sauce. It's a very sweet type of hot sauce that goes on chicken wings.

D.C is also known for Go-Go music.  It's a form of hip-hop with caribean/reggae rythms; the percussion beat goes on as the melodies and tunes change.  Among the best known Go-Go bands are Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers (he's considered the godfather of the genre), Rare Essence, and E.U. -Experience Unlimited (a band featured in some of Spike Lee's movies)

    quote>

Oo, Joesocwork, you went a bit too far with that one. Such chili is Cincinnati, OH/Covington, KY/Lawrenceburg, IN only. Outside of those cities and their environs, you won't find Cincy chili anywhere. I doubt anyone in Cleveland has any idea what your talking about. Mr. Cinatit said he lives in a town 100 miles from Cincy. That's probably too far for Cincy chili. But I guess he's at least heard of it, being the Reds fan that he is.

However, I grew up just south of Cincinnati in Covington, KY. And believe me, I've had enough Gold Star Chili to sink a ship. 44.gif I even brought 3 dozen cans of it with me to Toronto. 18.gif Oh yes, I'm a Gold Star freak. A total nut. A... weirdo. 9.gif

For the record, it's not chili mac. It's just chili.

    Anyway, here's the breakdown:

3-way: (No, it's not what you're thinking, perverts) It's spaghetti, chili, cheese
    4-way: spaghetti, chili, cheese, onions
5-way: spaghetti, chili, cheese, onions, beans

And most importantly, the cheese coney: Hot dog on a bun with mustard, onions, chili, and cheese. YUM!

The three major chains: Gold Star Chili, Skyline Chili, and Dixie Chili.

And, fun fact, Cincinnati chili is based on greek-style chili.

Yeah I remember having that type of chili when my dad took my brothers and I to see the Reds play in the '70's, though I don't remember which restaurants.  I sometimes ask for it at Hard Times Cafes over here, but it ain't quite the same.

My dad makes his own type of chili and it is super soupy.  He makes it in a pot that could almost feed one of the ships he used to serve on in the Navy and we'd be eating the leftovers for days.

Personally, I think Im really strange...

I don't like watching TV - just movies that have a good plot and look gorgeous. (I wouldn't say that's weird) But...
I a-b-s-e-l-u-t-l-y hate reality TV shows, where's that heavy automatic weapons shop and TV centre???
This is weird... Im petrified of complete silence. You know, you're sitting in a room and not even a mouse stirs, and becuase Im afraid, I have to have something making noise turned on to go to sleep.
I avoid McDonald's when I can, becuase I work there and have tried everything once and eventually it made me sick or put me off it. However, if I abselutly have to go, I'll have a plain quater pounder with cheese and some chips - oh, and a bottle of water. (You do not want to ask what goes on behind in the kitchen, especially if you love McDonalds)
Im a FF7 freak - not that person that buys billions of posters and action figures, some one who has to see the charecters in the coming film Advent Children, or even listen to the music - hell, even play the game now and then!

    My weirdness... Explained.

Ok..I cannot go to bed in complete darkness...there has to be any light that I can see...if not I will not sleep...so a window,a light on a monitor saying the power is on,anything will help...but no light such as a indoor room means I don't sleep.I remember the blizzard last year Mr cinatit...my grandpa had a eye apointment that day and his car broke down...on his street thankfully...so my me,my sister and my dad had to shovel out our driveway to get the car out to fix my grandpas car...saddly...the road clearing crews ignore my section of the neighborhood and go to the richer part(typical snooty beavercreek officals22.gif)...so 4 of our neighbors hook up thier plows and one with a tractor...they plow out the streets going out of the neighborhood48.gif.this year my dad finally bought a snow blower.

    I don't like seafood.
    I don't like V8 tomato juice cold.
and I hate most reality shows except the Apprentice oddly...
And I have no teen or M rated game besides the sims 2 night life 6.gif

I know how you feel, I get really panicy when its completely silent. Ive never known of anyone else like that too, so now I feel better knowing somebody else is like that too. I have a Sound Soother thing that has like 50 sounds on it, and I take it on all my travels. I cannot sleep in silence either. When I get a hotel room next to a noisy airport, busy freeway or train tracks, I just love it. Those great air conditioners that are as loud as an airplane, I love it when I get one of those in a hotel room.

I also have a phobia of rooms without windows. Sometimes I have to go to a meeting at work, and its always in a room with no windows, and im so figidy, I cannot pay attention to anything anyones saying. All I can think is how badly I want out of that room. I havent been to a movie in a theater in many years. Have to wait until everything comes out on DVD.

@hym: Hmmm, looks strikingly similar to one of those Star Wars droid army soldiers. Well, no weirdness there then. 41.gif

@Hanson784: Ah, so that's it. Now I remember. That's a pretty good shot of her that Skigeek has as her avater. 44.gif

@SkiGeek: I always imagined a tailgate party as a bunch of balding, overweight football guys without their shirts on eating chili and hot dogs in the middle of winter. But then, I haven't been to a tailgate party before. After all, I grew up in the home of the Cincinnati Bengals. What's the point?

Weird that Annapolis doesn't have a museum. But wait, if Annapolis is the only capitol that doesn't, that means Frankfort, Kentucky does. Frankfort is a hamlet that wouldn't appear on any but the most detailed of maps if it weren't the capitol. So, I wonder where the museum is... Must be tiny.

@nealos101: Right there with ya on reality TV. And I never eat at any fast food restaurant wherein I cannot see the kitchen. And who is crazy enough to go to one of those fast food joints after they are closed but the drive-thru window is open. My god, they could be doing ANYTHING back there... 28.gif14.gif And they're underpaid teenagers to boot...

Oh, and FFVII was the best Final Fantasy game ever. How much longer are we going to have to scream at SquareEnix to make a PS2 version? Ha ha, weird. 29.gif

@Rymac91: Ah, you need a night-light! I used to be that way. Now I prefer the darkness. (Diabolical laughter 11.gif ) So, is V8 usually served cold? I loathe the stuff, so I have no idea.

@marryescher: Eh, another silence weirdo? 18.gif I love it. My hearing ability intensifies noticably when it's both silent and pitch dark. Kind of neat really.

@MrCinatit: Well, you still haven't answered the question. Have you ever eaten Cincinnati chili?

@xiziz: Ew, Burger King? Where they grill the burgers until they are a crusty lump of charcoal? 14.gif Give my Harvey's any day!

I still haven't seen Advent Children, but I'm gonna. Oh yes, I'm gonna. 2.gif

@vidioman: Yeah, I'm pretty weird too in that I also don't like parties. I prefer the company of close friends. I always get lost at parties. And the more people, the more lost I get.

And don't give up on dating because of chubiness. If I can find a fiance, anyone can.

Another weird thing about myself I thought of today while cooking dinner: I absolutely LOVE Spam. Also, I heard that one of the most popular places for Spam is Hawaii. 47.gif Any weirdoes from Hawaii here who are Spam haters? 18.gif

Anyone who cannot guess what I had for dinner tonight, please stand upside-down with your head in a bucket full of piranha.

I've got a couple of pieces of weirdness RL has simply made have to compromise on.

When I was a child I was afraid of the dark and needed a nightlight and noise around me to sleep.  When I became an adolescent I became just the totally opposite and almost demanded total darkness and silence.  The military, college group homes and married life has made accept that is not totally possible.  ...I just fall asleep when I get exhausted (immediately after work24.gif) At least the kiddoes have outgrown 2 am feedings.

After I did 13.something mile race in the early '80's and suffered heat stroke I've always welcomed air conditioning and have even had it running here in D.C. in December.  The Magistrate prefers heat over cold and has had the heater running on in June!46.gif We've compromised by trying to figure out what the kiddoes are feeling and set the thermostats accordingly.12.gif

@udriveitmissionsrock: I also possess the TV sense. CRT devices actually emit a very high-pitched noise when they're on even if there is no audio. Some people can hear that, some can't.

@___idiotbox: Hmmm, you have a pet tarantula and hate horses. I think a normal person would have it the other way around... weirdo. 18.gif And what's up with that screen name of yours?

@Joesocwork: I read once that President Nixon like having a fire in his fireplace so much that he'd even have one in the middle of July and have the A/C running at the same time. A/C is a joy. But my bf hates it. 47.gif

Another one on me: I hate raisins, but love Raisin Bran.

I just thought of something else wierd about me. I carry around this little piece of cloth since I was little. Its whats left of my favorite jacket that I wore and carried around until it was in shreds. It even has a name, Blue thing. Everyone that knows me knows about Blue thing, and when I visit somebody I havent seen in a while, they always ask to see Blue thing. Everyone poses for pictures with it. Blue thing travels around the world with me in my pocket. Ive have Blue thing for about 30 years and I wouldnt trade it for millions of dollars. Heres a picture of my best friend Troy holding Blue thing.

Me too.  I think it's b/c of the texture of the cereal. By themselves raisins are too sweet and gooey & I like crunching.

I annoy folks sometimes by also chomping on ice.  That's one reason why I love iced lattes (eating the coffee flavored ice, that is).  The Magistrate and my dad have sworn that I have a certain irritating breathing noise when I eat ice which I can't hear.
