Chat not opening

The chat for me is not working, is it just me or is it something about Sim?

Same here, it opens a new window but the chat client fails to load with a connection error. I have also noticed the chat icon has been not working intermittently for the last few days, displaying the following:

Maybe there are some server related issues or overload, as the site does seem to be quite slow at the moment.

Seriously though, it's been displaying "0" for a week now. Sometimes it still works, sometimes it doesn't. Perhaps some changes are being made.

Yep, it appears to be back down. It was fixed yesterday though.

The chat seems to be running by pages it looks. Every page I see a different number, like literally as I was typing this I don't see a number. But on the main forum browsing page I see 0.

I can confirm it is not browser related. The chat icon looks like this right now for me:

Although I've noticed a pattern:

-When the chat icon is empty, I cannot enter chat.

-When that icon has a '0' on it, you are usually able to enter.

-When the icon has 1 or more on it, you can enter.

It seems to be during early GMT afternoon, generally I haven't been able to connect at about 3pm GMT for the last few days. I'm not sure if this is coincidental.

I seem to have the opposite 'symptoms' to Hal; I can usually join when the chat icon is empty, but I can't join when it is 0.

The error I get when trying to join in Chrome during the down times is 'Server did not send any data'.

Confirmed. You should be able to enter with a 0, edited my prior post to reflect this.

Now chat has a number. You shouldn't have any problems entering at the moment.

Actually, at the moment for me, it doesn't say 15. About 5 minutes ago it was empty when I was able to join, but now it displays 0 instead 15. I've tried refreshing, but it stays at 0. Strange, because it seems things are different for different people.

I can never get in. Literally, never. The first time I do it in each browser session it displays a blank page without delivering any message and stays so for as long as I can stand having the window open, then when I close the popup and click on chat again it just gives me the "connection was reset while the page was loading" page. I'm on Firefox.

Does the site staff have plans to upgrade the chat system or software? Now would be a good time do do it

Also, is a reset or restart to the system possible? That might clear the bugs.

Whenever there is a number other than "0" I can get in.

I can sometimes enter if it says "0"

If there is no number I can't.

I've also been having some trouble this afternoon, it keeps on disconnecting.

Just got in with the count reading 0. I can't get a feel for why some people can't get in. Sometimes, I can't either. That whole area seems to be rather flaky.

I got in - finally - with Chrome. Now I don't think I'm switching to Chrome permanently so I still would like to see it fixed.

I don't know how you feel about Chrome, but the Linux version (Chromium) leaves much to be desired. I am sticking with Firefox.

I use Chrome but I still have difficulties trying to join. Currently, it says there are 7 people in chat, but it just hangs on a grey screen when I try to join, and if I press F5 to refresh chat this happens:

Edit: 5 minutes after it said 7 people, the icon has gone back to being blank for no apparent reason on my side. I am still unable to join with the icon change.

This is a reoccurring problem. It seems very unpredictable, and the icon keeps changing almost every time I browse to a new page or forum topic. Have tried on Firefox, Chrome and IE, without any noticeable signs of improvement. Within the space of five minutes, I got all three icons:

Must be working for some though, the ones already in chat don't seem to be affected. Also, the site is running fairly quick for me at the moment, so I don't think overload is a factor.
