Do I need to download patch and/or plugins?

I just downloaded version 1.1641.02 Sim City 4 Deluxe off GameStop digital store. So a few questions:

1) since it is a digital copy, can I even install plugins, patches, and maps like normal?

2) since I havent played in so long, and im playing version 1.1641.02, do I still need to download any official patches or any unofficial plugins such as the one on this site that fixed the transportation bug and made the transportation more efficient?

Hmmm... curious... Have not seen that number any where before. 1.1.641.0 is the version number of the fully patched downloaded game from other sites. Perhaps 1.1641 (the number on GameStop's download page) is close enough to think it is all ready patched - don't know about the ".02" though. Is that the number you see if you check the properties of the game's exe file? If you look in the Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe folder, do you see a folder named SKU something? If so, perhaps it's patched.

As for the "unofficial" patch for transportation. you may be referring to the NAM. That will need to be added since it's a custom mod that wouldn't be included in any downloaded game.

Check the version number on the installed .exe for the game. It should be 1,1,641,0 but the .02 may indicate the authorized vendor.

How do I do that? I`m right clicking the .exe file and checking properties but dont see anything.

Maybe it's the wrong file...? Is there are tab in the Properties window called "Version"?

Yes, you do need to install NAM if you so desire. It wouldn't be included in any game patch since it was not developed by EA/Maxis. Many of the game's transportation quirks are "fixed" by NAM.

The show version feature is in Vista and W7. Earlier than that open the version tab in the properties panel.
