Questions 1, 3, 5, 6 and 7 are answered in the cam manual, which is attached to this post, the manual also explains stages and give the capacities

2. No bugs, but requires very careful installation and file selection

4. If you're new to SC then I don't recommend it until you're familiar with the game, try NAM (if you haven't) first

8. It depends of the building but anyway with all demand mods in CAM you get skyscrapers really easy

1. Does it have any bugs? - technically no but it'll seriously flaw the simulation if not installed properly

2. What kind of plugins can you install with it? - the so-called CAMpatibles

3. Do i need it since I am new SC? - no you don't need it, just as you don't need the NAM. That said, both are indispensable as far as I'm concerned

4. Will it affect an already halfway built city? - yes and it a bad way too.

5. Does it have dependenices? - no

6. Does it have any new buildings? - there're a number of different starter pack available, as well as single downloads.

7. What stage do skyscrapers come in, compare original to Cam? - Skycrapers will appear relative late compared to vanilla, however, they'll keep on coming long after vanilla growth has stalled, since the CAM expands the number of growth stages to 15, compared to the original 8.

I have also a question about CAM. I have installed CAM for Mac, but my buildings don't grow as they used to. I'm starting to think that this may be caused by a incorrect installation (CAM for mac is just a zip file you have to unarchive). I want to uninstall it (correctly, so included CAM buildings) but I don't know whether this has negative influence on existing cities.

When I do this, do I have to start again or doesn't it matter that much?

It sounds like the CAM wasn't installed properly indeed. The main file has to be merged with simcity1.dat, not sure how to do this on a mac though.

Now to uninstall the CAM simply remove the main files from the plugins folder. Once they're gone, let the simulator run for a couple of years (±5) as it needs to rebalance statistics and the like.

If you also want to uninstall all the buildings that came with the CAM, you'll first have to demolish every single occurence of all those lots in all your cities, before removing them from the plugins folder. Naturally, this will have some serious consequences so it's probably best to start out anew, not to mention a whole lot easier.

I'm gonna go ahead and reopen this topic, because I have a specific question about the mod. I started out with the starter packs, went through everything, and am almost done with the CO$$ group. A question popped into my head then: is it necessary to unzip the files that were in the main installation? I've been simply leaving the files as is, as an unzip file.

thanks for the help.

Somehow, it sounds as if you were new to the game. Ask yourself: Is there ever a case where you do not unzip an installation file and either run the installation or do some housecleaning for SC4 mods?

Which files do you have in your a_CAM folder?

Also, installing some of the stuff is very involved. Hunting down some of the necessary dependencies for the farms etc. took a very long time, as most of them have changed to different files by now.

I have the regular cam install. that's it. All my buildings (and any plugins that are required for them) are in the CAM folder. I am not new to the game, btw. Never had to deal with zipped files after unzipping them. Then again, the cam isn't like other mods.

The only thing that is strictly necessary is the file "ColossusAddonMod_1.0.dat" in the "a_CAM" folder. Having buildings for the new growth stages is nice, but not necessary for some short testing in a new city. The game itself provides up to stage 15.

Some bug fixes (CAM workforce duplication bug and I-HT fix) should be patched into the "ColossusAddonMod_1.0.dat", but that's about it.

I remember that most additional work was for all the stuff for the new agricultural stages.
