How can I reduce traffic's impact on farms?
navyboi replied to Pelipper's topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
This is old, I know, but I did what Ro Bo suggested. It made the desirability go down elsewhere, while the avenues and roads stayed the same. Anyone have any other suggestions? -
Residential issues: trees appear, lots don't grow

Figured out how to do it. So...here you go. Avenues aren't used at all. And the train station only gets 100 people or so. One thing to note is that the track in the neighboring city is connected to the HSR mass transit station. An el rail travels from there to the commercial. There's also numerous bus stops. Here's a pic of the neighboring city... And here's a close up of the connections. -

Alright, reinstall fixed it (no idea what it was, hopefully it doesn't happen again). I've been playing it for about a week now. I've set up four cities: a main, a residential, a farming community and a low wealth. I ran into problems as far as job finding. High wealth and some middle wealth in the residential city got the no job zot. Not many, only a few, but it irked me because I had a big commercial district right next door, close to the border. The buildings with the zot are close to the border as well. So I zoned some commercial in the residential city. After building up, I let a few months run by before pausing it. A checkup showed that the no job zots had gone down, yet a few remained. Using the pathfinding tool, I realized that some of the commercial had no one working at them. It's the same story next door in the commercial district. So why won't the sims with no jobs work at the companies with no employees? Further info: I've got a few avenues connecting the residential city to commercial next door, as well as a 6 lane NAM avenue and rail. Speaking of which, I know this has been mentioned before, but I've gotten no answers that help me. Some of the sims that travel next door disappear when I switch to that city. In the residential, 1100 take the 6 lane via bus and car. Yet in the main (next door) only 460 appear via bus. I tried to upload a pic, but the file size was too big -

Thanks for the replies. I went ahead and did the binary search with no results. In a moment of frustration I completely emptied my plugins folder, and I still get the trees. Should I just reinstall the game? Note: the trees that pop up are the regular maxis trees, nothing special Is there any other file besides the plugins file that can affect the game? -

Disc, not download. Not piracy either, if that's what you're after. Anyway, I destroyed my city and started over (it was started before I installed cam). The demand isn't an issue anymore, people are moving in. However, trees are still popping up each month in random areas in the residential district. Anyone know if it's supposed to do that? Ya, I guess I did say download, didn't I. My bad. sorry bout that -
I redownloaded SimCity 4 recently, after a break. Started out by downloading mods that I considered important (NAM, CAM, IH fix, roadtop mass trans., etc.). after doing all that (which took me hours, as you can imagine), I started the game, and after playing for 10 min or so saw trees randomly appearing in the residential section. What's more, the lots don't upgrade. I still have empty zones. Also, the demand is way to high to be normal. I'm aware that I probably overmodded in the short time I had, so I started moving mods in and out of the folder. Took anything cam related out, which actually solved the problem. Put all the files back in, and started taking out two or three at a time to see what was affecting it. Got to the end of the list with no solution. Took all the cam files out again, and now it doesn't solve anything. > Tried the other files in the plugins folder, and still nothing is solved. Long story short, help plz!

I have the regular cam install. that's it. All my buildings (and any plugins that are required for them) are in the CAM folder. I am not new to the game, btw. Never had to deal with zipped files after unzipping them. Then again, the cam isn't like other mods.

I'm gonna go ahead and reopen this topic, because I have a specific question about the mod. I started out with the starter packs, went through everything, and am almost done with the CO$$ group. A question popped into my head then: is it necessary to unzip the files that were in the main installation? I've been simply leaving the files as is, as an unzip file. thanks for the help.

Aye, u were right Went to a different website and downloaded file. I'm in. Thanks for your time.

naw i'm upgrading to 638. Should've made that clear Alright, I tried downloading SKU 3 this time. Went through the whole process just fine, but it still has the rushhour file (???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????).

I got the correct patch. At least it said america below, but I'll check out the others. You've got my hopes up again.

So, yeah. I was in the process of downloading the new NAM files when it told me that I needed to update the game. No surprise there, I was expecting that. Download it, update it, good to go...and then I'm told that the game isn't updated. So, I open the notepad, and I see this... ----- Processing Patch File ----- Applying MODIFY File Patch for 'DELUXE.exe' Writing New File Verifying - Passed! Plain bad luck? The CD is part of the SimCity Box, and i bought it at best buy, so I doubt it's illegal. Any help please? And thanks.

Yeah, my bad Anyway, thanks for responding. As for me, the zots don't go away. Building after building goes vacant. I don't believe that it's from the lack of jobs. A couple of medium density commercial buildings have no commuters, and one has even been abandoned from the lack of workforce. I have a bus stop on every block, and I have a tram going right down the middle of the busiest avenue in the city. I was wondering if the computer's performance could affect the pathfinder.

<no picture> If these zots persist more than a few sim-months, use the zones view to check the arrows really are pointed to the road. I know this post is old, but this is the closest issue that matches my problem. Even at 22,000 residents, I'm getting the zot left, right and center, and yes, I have checked the arrows, and the drawpaths thingie has not helped me at all. So I was wondering, is there some mod out there that fixes the problem by now? And if not, is there some way to fix it through the programs file of the game?
