Best slope mod for a hilly terrain?

Hi there,

I am starting a hilly region, and wandered -- What is the best slope mod for that?

My restrictions are: Not too flat, not too sharp - yet can cope with jagged terrain...

I must say that the terraforming for the region itself is a wonderful job (made by izidor44) but it can be a pain for infrastructure layout...

Details: it's a 4x5 large tile region - so you can see the beauty and with that - the hilly rough terrain for roads :)

Well, I use one. It creates slopes that aren't too steep/flat.

one is similar, but is adapted for the RHW only. It can be used in combination with other slope mods, though, as long as it loads after the other.

one contains several options that you can choose from, but only use one at a time.

@MamaLuigi945, it was very helpful - thank you!

Another question --- Does any slope mod you described confict with the zero bridge height mod?

    Thanks, Guy.

I'm pretty sure that slope mods do not conflict with the bridge height mod.

As for which slope is "best", well it's a matter of preference. Some mods cause more gentle slopes, some others steeper. And as you may want different slopes in different parts of your city, the answer might be install/uninstall the most suitable mod just before laying the networks. You may even find that no mod can result in exactly the look you want, so you can modify the mods on purpose. Basically I'm using the BRF's mod, but when I want a steeper slope at some particular area of my city, I use the reader and change it. The key properties are MaxSlopeAlongNetwork and MaxTunnelSlope, if you are about to make a tunnel (you may also need to modify MinTerrainSlopeForTunnelStart accordingly). It helps if you reorder the exemplars in the mod, in an increasing capacity order, ie street, road, oneway road, avenue, ground highway, elevated highway, rail, el rail, monorail.

EDIT: Always halt and save your city before laying networks, and if you didn't get the result you wanted, just exit to region without saving.

Also you might want to try Ennedi's slope mod which is very consistent with all networks and give nice results but maybe is a little strong for your map (lovely indeed!)

I recommend using Ennedi's as well. It's served me faithfully.

Things will be much more difficult to get right with a slope mod, but in the end your region will look much more realistic. Good luck!
