Hey Maarten, sorry to bother you again :D

I just wanted to report a bug. Haven't seen it being mentioned in the thread.

post-548664-0-50336500-1367522763_thumb.

(European 1, Maxiesque, Usa Yellow Small)

Great work nonetheless, standard maxis stoplights are just plain ugly in DarkNite.

I am getting a bug where the lights are floating at the corners facing outward, with no posts being rendered

Using:

Scandinavian layout

Maxisesque posts

Small black panel lights

I would love to design, not code, some presets, like a folder uploaded to the stex.

And I would suggest adding streetlights to the american style stoplights, because they are usually do have them on top, and directional arrow signs.

I get the same "blue/green/red" checkerbox on the backplated signals (US style anyway, yellow and black, small and large) while running SC4 within a Parallels 8 XP virtual machine under MacOS.  Naturally I don't have much control over the rending aspects of my video card in such a situation, so chalk that up as another reason for software rendering.  The "generic" heads appear to work fine thus far, however.

It's funny, my setup in general destroys SC4 from a performance standpoint but chokes on something as seemingly trivial as a signal backplate.  Oh well!

Edit:  With a road/road intersection I also get the signal head in front of the cross street sign...

You might be happier running with wine rather than a virtual machine.  WINdows Executive simply adds a layer to the O/S and runs the program (you must be x86 decor) with intercepts and recompiles for the windows calls to native.  If you need additional libraries, there is a utility 'winetricks'.

A great MOD, one of the most important mods for a more realistic game! Thank you !!! :thumb:

One minor bug:  for a street that changes to road just before a T-junction with a road, the traffic light on the right post is missing:

I was too impatient to wait for an update, therefore, I applied the change myself:

In the file StoplightLayoutStyles_PICK_ONE\European_Variation1_RHD\Z_Stoplights_T21_Euro1_RHD_AutoLeftTurnLanes.dat

in the exemplars with ID 5f015100 and 5f015600, I added a property LotConfigPropertyLotObjectData with the following values:

0x00000001
0x00000000
0x00000000
0x00010000

Many features are not working properly in LHD... there's the problem of signals facing the wrong way as mentioned before, but sometimes there are signals in the wrong place in some puzzle pieces like light rail and pole models defaulting to Maxis as on the default OxO Avenue intersection.

So, I've done some well-needed maintenance at the SRM. Attached below are T21 patches for the SRM, one for each layout. I'll upload a full version later with these patches, but you can now test to see if the patches are working ;)

The stoplights in horizontal and vertical interchanges looks perfect. I guess that the strange colors means that the panels require hardware rendering.

    new_city-8_may.__001390679020.jpg

But in the diagonal avenues... well...

    new_city-24_may.__001390679067.jpg

I don't have NAM, so maybe this is the problem. The panels and the stoplights are in their right positions, but the arms enjoy disobeying :P

Well, this is a new bug. I'll see what I can do to solve it. I also need to make software rendering compatibility for the panels...

    Yes!

I've been playing around with Wine partially in the hopes of being able to utilize hardware rendering but to no avail.  Ironically, my HTPC destroys SC4 in hardware mode.  Talk about frustrating...

Welp, three more bugs found. :P

    AVE-6 X AVE-6 clearly hates the overhaul. D:

AVE-6xAVE-6 TuLEP intersection piece also hates it. :(

But still, it's a huge improvment over the original one. ;)

Everything looks great. The panels doesn't look anymore like they had been painted by Pinkie Pie...

I have not inspected each intersection in the city just yet, but from what I can see so far....

    Perfect! :thumb:

I even see dedicated signals for turn-only lanes!

    Thank You!

I accidentally cropped out the turn only lane signal just north of the picture, but nevertheless, its great! Thanks again.

Excellent work.  Now I don't need to be concerned about my utter failure at achieving hardware rendering!

Quick question regarding scaling - what are the in-game dimensions of the heads?  Was the large set created just for better visibility in-game?  Which one more closely matches the (US) standard of 12" lenses?

FYI, I get password prompts on several of the files when I try to do an "extract" through Windows.  Seems to be happening mostly with the "France" and "Maxisesque" post files and all of the layout variations.  If i drag them out of the opened archive it seems to work, however.  Not sure if that might be something on your end causing that; it happened with the prior version as well.

Sorry in advance for the double post, but I wanted to keep this separate from the previous.  Did a little bit of testing in trying to figure out which configuration I wanted to use.  All use the European_Variation2_RHD layout and US Small Yellow signal models.

Maxisesque signs look awkward, although there's probably not much that can be done about it (except perhaps move it to between the post and head?):

    NAMSandbox-Feb18001390785866.png

Similar on the diagonal avenue intersection (any possibility of a smaller sign?):

    NAMSandbox-Apr1001390786014.png

Is there any timetable for signals on diagonal road configurations or on one-way road intersections?  It looks odd with nothing at all, although seeing as the vanilla Maxis configuration doesn't really have much either, it's not too big of a drawback to the mod.

Also, would it be possible to add street name signs to the other post sets, only instead of on the mast arm, on the corner mast arm poles above the post-mounted head instead?  Not exactly a standard configuration, but it might be a more practical configuration given the limitations of the game.

Will the SRM be compatible with the new OWR intersections someday?

For me they are pretty useless with the ugly maxis stoplights

I think this could answer you:

    https://community.simtropolis.com/profile/267470-ganaram-inukshuk/?status=25895&type=status

(Anyway, up to what I know, Mandelsoft has been open to hand a copy of his source files for updating the NAM Euro textures, so it could be with the SRM, if someone with modding skills could take the post.)

I'm pretty sure that you are right here. I think he'd only be too happy to see updates. In any case you wouldn't need his permission to release new T21s, that linked to the old set as a dependency.

The problem is there are few people willing to do the modding. Others may "fix" their game but never release the files for others to use. I will surely get around to that myself, but since I'm using the LHD UK set, that probably won't help you here.
