This is a fun topic.1.gif

I work in Washington, D.C. (by way originally from Indiana -yeah, yeah go Pistons, just try to beat the Lakers with a score of 63 points 28.gif).

Over here in this town, folks tend to identify themselves by their professions.

I am social worker, hence JoeSocWork 10.gif

Generally, I just pronounce it as ZAH-zah ksah-ROO.

Before, I pronounced it in a multitude of ways:
    - Zz-zah KSAH-roo (originally)
    - Zah-zah KSAH-roo
    - Zz-zah ksah-ROO
    - Zah-zah KSAH-roh
    - Zz-zah KSAH-roh
    - KSAH-roh
    - Ksah-ROO

You forgot one - the station I was watching when the U.S. trounced Canada in the '94 World Cup of Hockey - CBUT.

    See-Butt.

Hilarious. The announcer actually started crying. He muttered something about Shouldn't have taught the rest of the world our game. I, on the other hand, was laughing maniacally.

    Good Times.

    CBUT- CBC Vancouver. Neat.

When the japanese bow, don't move your head up. And it is okay for foreigners to try to shake hands, because the foreigners don't know how to bow there. They have it down to a science.

-they even bow when they go on the phone!

    ar-de-KY-la

    All hard syllables.

I originally created it as a unique AOL screenname, to avoid using numbers. But because it's reasonably short, and unique, I use it everywhere now.

It's actually a hybrid of bird scientific names. When I was signing up for AOL, I happened to have a Bird Field Guide on the table. After trying my name and other names I'd used in the past, I opened the book and took snippets from different Latin names to create ardecila.

My avatar is a B-1B Lancer strategic bomber. I use it because it's a cool depiction of my very first BAT, and the splash symbolizes the effect I have on people (at least IRL).

Seems everyone pronounces my screen name wrong.  I just have to be difficult like that. 18.gif
hmmmm30.gif....  Maybe I'll change it.  Now that I think about it.... I think I'll try eej-see.  How does that sound? Or maybe just call me E-A when you read my posts. I guess it doesn't really matter to me as long as everyone realizes that it is an acronym and not a word.

    Mon-teh-FEH-rro

But then again, most people on the other forums I frequent call me Monty. It's two syllables less and it breaks down all the formality (which is a very good thing). 1.gif

Agh... that blinking emoticon is driving me nuts! I know a librarian who does the exact same thing.

As a non-U.S.American, I still consider Reagan's passing as a great loss to his country. He has made some positive impact in the world's history during his 8-year tenure in office, and should be honored for the good he has done to the world.
