I also think you need a little work on the glass. Look at some of Jasonscw and NoFunk's glass old building styles, I think that style will be great for this building. :)

The railings all around the roof, and the roof itself, look very worn and sooty. The rest of the building walls do look almost immacolate.

You'd need to find a compromise between the two ;).

My said about the bricks was influenced by the reality of the old New Yotk times building, a building that looks like being a cut-copy of one tyimes square, just designed for a different location:

2008_11_timesbuilding.jpg

It would have been much better to find a colour picture of one times square, but unfortnately it wasn't possible, and all you can rely to are old postcards (and the artist's colour palette, that might or might not be close to reality), or other kinds of guessings.

Thanks Francis for the pic! " A short drawing is ( always ) better than a long speach"

Pertinent comment concerning the railings around the roof and I choose then the "clean option" . However, I slightly desagree about the roofs texture itself as IMHO, pollution make more dirty on horizontal surfaces(like roof...!) than walls (but I might be wrong...!) and not only pollution, you , maybe noticed the white spots under the times Panel, they are supposed to represent the pigeons excrements when they stopped on the panel. I did model the pigeons too, but, because they were not really visible and increase drastically the size of the bat, i decide to "eliminate " the pigeons but not the "guano"

"Is it not cruel to let our city die by degrees, stripped of all her proud monuments, until there will be nothing left of all her history and beauty to inspire our children? If they are not inspired by the past of our city, where will they find the strength to fight for her future? Americans care about their past, but for short term gain they ignore it and tear down everything that matters. Maybe… this is the time to take a stand, to reverse the tide, so that we won't all end up in a uniform world of steel and glass boxes." - Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

Honestly, i think your assumption about soot might be rather debateable...it is true that horizontal surfaces that face up (e.g. roofs or terrace) are affected by dirt brought by rain and wind - however, they're probably less affected by car smog, much likely a more powerful source of grim, that would start from a much lower level, and would probably flow from the road level upward (guessing:i came to this conclusion having observed buildings that started to show signs of smog staining on their walls).

On the other hand vertical surfaces might be affected by rain as well, and they're very affected by car smog.

Also, if i take your reasoning as trusted, and if i follow it, then also other horizontal surfaces, and not just the railings, should show signs of dirt, and probably also signs of guano...

Other than this, i'd definately have to disagree about having a clean building. It is a fairly reasonable assumption to state that the building, in it's short lifespan from 1904 to 1963, had rarely any chance to be clean.

It was built at the intersection of two extremely busy roads, Broadway and 7th.

It withstood the first decades of the automobile era, a period when they thought they could burn gallons over gallons of fuel in their cars, and turn all of that into smog without caring the slightest about air quality.

It would be also interesting to notice that coal usage was probably more common than now...

This is a true beauty - I'm really looking forward to seing this on the STEX.

About the grime discussion, I'm not sure how it is done in 3DS, but usually at the last minute in GMAX, I grab a snapshot of the front/side viewport and then overlay that on my wall texture in the GIMP: I then apply dodge & burn to simulate the grime that accumulates under the window sills areas.....

Seems good to me, maybe you should desaturate slightly the white bricks, they recently look a little bit "pinky"...!

From what I know of Bats is that they end up getting a slightly pink hue from the system. If you notice, lots of white buildings in game have a slightly pink color.

The pink hue should stay. A lot of the "white" buildings in SimCity made by Maxis have a significant pinkish tint to them. Some of the buildings that are white also have a more blue tint to them. Either one are acceptable and work the best in the in game environment. Something too white without a small hint of blue or pink stands out oddly.

This beauty looks done. :D You have the night scene cooking for us? I can't wait to see more!

I think before saying it s too pink or not, we have too compare with others bats in game. Moreover, the pink tinte could be a choice, and not a bad one. And I am right nobody was able to provide a color photography of the real bat, so let Amthaak choice. He already shows is his skills in this area and we can trust him.

Agreed. To mention something different, that rotunda on the topmost roof with all the ancillary stuff looks breathtaking. So much detail!

Ok, now i think you should increase a bit the contrast between the bricks, and the seams between the bricks - other than this, i have no further objection to make.

Little father orders you to epurate this BAT from any imperfection.
