How to Remove Rail Dirt

Hi!

Is there anyway i can remove the dirt texture under rail. I have used SWAMPER-PEG No Rail Dirt mod but it does not remove the dirt at all. Also, the rail dirt is not the standard maxis dirt and has a different texture. Does anybody know which plugin is causing this. I have installed NAM using the Alternative Rail Textures by Dedgren. Could that be the cause? I have also installed SAM and JRJ Sidewalk Mod. Also, the texture of the dirt that appears when a road runs next to farm land is also the same texture as in the photo. Can someone help me by telling me which plugin is causing this or help me find a way to remove the dirt.<br />

Thanks!! :D

I've fixed a very similar problem today...

The dirt around my rails hve been removed for years, but after re-organisng my plugins they came back

It looks to be a file loading order that supresses the "SWAMPER-PEG_NoRailDirt_MOD_205.dat" from working - it must load after any other rail mod

I've removed the NoRailDirt mod and the dirt blocks return

Adding the file back in - loading after the rail mod removes the dirt again

Hopefully you will be able to get the same results...

I would also highly recommend Rivit's RUM (Rail Upgrade Mod) to improve the look and consistency of your rails

Good luck

Pilliar117, from your image, it looks like you have another Rail-Dirt mod. It only shows a short curved stretch there, but it appears to exhibit a characteristic of one of Jeronij's (JRJ) mods (if I'm remembering correctly). I'll need to look to see if it's part of the sidewalk mod or if it's something separate that can be removed. Either way, as djp mentioned, making sure of load order should alleviate the issue. Just a thought...

Edit: Yes, Archangel found the file. See below...

@pilliar117 -- to regain Maxis dirt textures next to roads that are in farm zones and to eliminate the textures under rail in the pics you posted, remove the file "JRJ SidewalksV3_Rural_Sidewalk.dat" from the Jeronij Sidewalk Mod folder. Alternatively, as d_j_p1 and CaptCity mentioned, this is a loading order issue. The file "SWAMPER-PEG_NoRailDirt_MOD_205.dat" should be in a sub-folder of your My Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins directory named something like "zzz_load_last" or whatever you like, so long as it is alphabetically the final sub-folder in that directory. Other mods that make overall changes to the game should go in here, too. Mine, for example, contains a slope mod, PEG's avenue medians mod, the Expanded UI mod by Equinox, the larger news window mod, Lowkee33's Flora Tuning parameters for seasonal flora, and a couple other things.

Just a quick update...

If you install Rivit's RUM as linked above this comes with two options

Mossy Earth or Transparent Earth as a default underlay

You will not need "SWAMPER-PEG_NoRailDirt_MOD_205.dat" installed as RUM will deal with all the existing dirt underlay issues

Thanks everyone! I managed to find the cause and as Michael said, it was JRJ Sidewalk Mod. I have also taken on d_j_p1's suggestion and installed the RUM. Thanks again!!

Hi, i know this isn't the topic, but where do you guys get those power lines hanging over the train line, like the real life railway.

Those things that stands in the rail/or at the side in your pictures?
