I honestly fail at understanding the need of this since we have Simtropolis as i fail to understand the existance of SC4Devotion (unless it came before Simtropolis). Why do we need more than one fansite (from what i've understood you're making a fansite/download base, Simtropolis is already good enough for that)? I thank god Simtropolis is king and everyone refers here. Also you've talked about of "exclusive downloads". Meanwhile it is a good thing you produce something yours, i wonder why you don't share it here with us all.

Moskva - Since you are failing to understand the need for variety... let me try and break it down for you... Simtropolis is a wonderful site...perhaps the best, premiere site it features more than just Sim City 4 and its variations incarnations... it plays host to other simulation games.. SC4Devotion is just what the name says it is SC4 devotion and thats that.. I believe its the home of the NAM and NAM's creators (please correct me if I'm wrong). Simtropolis is good enough but I'm certain they have no desire to be the ONLY site that people use, considering that its all FREE for users..

It is good to have a variety. Monopolies are never good - no matter how good the product/company may be! Further, SC4Devotion came long after Simtropolis was formed. I don't know the exact history, but there are some BATers that post exclusively to there. Some people just prefer to have their work on their own site. Pegasus (simpeg.com) is a good example.

Edit: Now that I have seen the new website, just some friendly feedback (I know it is still new and likely in development). The colours and layout look a little too similar to Simtropolis. I would strongly recommend making the site look entirely different from this one in terms of colours, layout, etc and to offer something that is not already here on ST. I understand you will have exclusive downloads (and I look forward to seeing them), but you may need more than that to draw any members.

anyone Besides me see EXACT similarities to this website (Simtropolis)?

Minus the different sub headers that you click to navigate.

For Example:

1. The Mail, help, Username, and sign out is in the SAMEPLACE

2. The Header of the site is the Same colour, not to mention the Same places of the Search, Browse new content,and the quick navigation.

3. The mostly Similar CityJournal page

4. Need i mention the Same style to the Forums section

5. ...................... oh wait only the top 4 even matter since the video Vagely even gave us a tour of the site at all.. (only showing the forums and the City Journals doesnt even count as advertising a Simcity fan based website PERIOD)

sorry if this sounds remotely rude.(as this is my View of this)..but its mostly style plagerized right from this website (meaning the creator somehow found the Coding to this site and Copied it Directly and used it for their Template).... now unless a Moderator/site creator is also in on this Site (as in in charge of the site) there is no reason to make a second version of Simtropolis

I ponder the creation of a second site when, seemingly, it's attempted to be the exact same site that it's inspired by. What does it offer beyond what Simtropolis does?

Really, the question is: Why?

It is very hard to tell the difference between sites. It looks like they use the same fourm software. A new site will need its own identity, because there can't be 2 simtropolises.

We saw thousands sites - but only Simtropolis, SC4 Devotion, SimPeg, Polska and China now ...

I mentioned the same concerns listed here in another thread. I really am thrilled to see a new site, but Sim City Empire isn't quite ready to be opened. I have developed websites myself before and I would not even consider opening a forum to the public until the design is complete.
