What does your username mean?

okay, i didnt see a thread on this anywhere around so i decided to start one

Basically all you have to do is tell the story behind your username. why did you choose it? is there a funny story to it? c'mon Simtropolis, we're all or i am at least interested.

hmmm, mine is kind of stupid but i picked granto93 because........

- Grant is my first name

- "o" because i was eating honey nut cherios at the time

- 93 because that was the year i was born

great topic BTW, I have often wondered how others arrived at their usernames. I even asked Voar Tok about his and was surprised to find it wasn't Klingon-derived as I had assumed! As for me, manticorefan refers to my first (earliest)music passion, Emerson Lake and Palmer, whose record label was Manticore records and is referenced on the Tarkus album as well as the Return of the Manticore box set which was the first box set I ever bought.

When I joined Simtropolis, I was not a big fan of Simtrop (then 4.0) or SimCity 4. I preferred 2K or 3K. And Simtropolis 3.0. I was actually thinking of "Do You Live Up to Your Username?" actually yesterday, but you beat me to it. Congrats!

Well I really like the band Incubus even though I despise the new stuff. So the song "Idiot Box" is my favorite song from the album S.C.I.E.N.C.E. The three underscores are because I wanted to appear first on the "who's online" list! Why three you ask? no idea..

I've been interested in the Titanic for quite a while (the ship...not the movie). But, a name like MrTitanic would have been unoriginal, so I decided to flip it around. I've actually been using this name for quite a long time - way before Simtropolis (about a dozen or so years online), and use it exclusively on other forums - so if you see another MrCinatit posting somewhere, there is a good chance it is me.

It all started on another website, ModtheSims2, I was signing up and went through a few usernames that had all been used, so I just came up witht the most random username I could, ExplodingSims, and It just stuck for everyother username I ever use, because it's so memorable...

I picked TopCliff for two reasons, both with their own purposes. Here they are:

I was at the beach, standing (duh) on top of a cliff, and then it hit me: I wanted to be an architect. Immediately afterward, I bought a sketchpad and filled it with drawings of buildings and cities.

I was creating a very interesting city in SC4 (two tall, skinny mesas in the middle of the Fairview region), and I named the mayor Topcliff. Back then, I named my mayors with a connection to the city name i.e. Suburbia Utopia, Port Royal Royalle, Tuke City Dukesity. You get the idea. TopCliff

Well, I wanted to be unknown, so I chose N_O_Body, then later I thought of A Nonny Moose, but it was too late to change.  I have both these handles at EA's site, but most places I appear as A Nonny Moose.  One site I was on recently had already had my moniker stolen, so I became The Real Nonny Moose, there.

Asking for a screen name is neat, because you can do something to hide your real identity, and be relatively safe from identity theft.

Well, at first, I was going to go with Cuzco, but I got an error on the old office computer I was on.

So, I switched to Micah since it's the name of my dog. After a while, people started thinking it was my actual name and many guys in chat even thought I was a girl from Russia or something.

But luckily, enough people know me (whether that's a good thing isn't 100% certain) that most of them know my real name and can tell I'm a guy. By the way, you can just call me Marc which is my real name.

Well, in several simcity fansites my username is potsdam, but someone already used it here, so I started thinking about names of manga characters, fukuda sounded well and was easy to remember, so I registered with it (well, after all I've been called fakuda, fukudu, fukada and so on, lol)

From the IDS Tower in Minneapolis, the 2 was because I registered on SCC first and I was named IDS, ST was second so...yeah.

Well... no real funny story. I just thought I was clever and original one day, plus I wanted something kind of Maxis-related... and chose The_Dalai_Llama. I carried it over from EA's SC4 BBS just to make things easier.

I now use variations of this name at other forums, though... TDLlama at Gamespot and Dalai at Sporeum.

There rlly isnt any history behind my name to tell youy the truth, I just wanted to get on this site badly and I thought of something fast and easy, because I have a lot of things top open with names like email, 2 email addresses actually, here, other sim sites, gamespot, and others, but I figured out that manman either 99 or 990 was extremely easy to remember. But if I had another chance, Id change it, but I do like beng called "man's man" every once in a blue moon evebn though it gives the wrong impression.

So yea Ive never relly thought about this importance in a name until now.

Well it was about a year ago, and I had found a link to ST from the old SimCity Central. I wanted to use my screen name from SCC and the EA site, which was simacd. When my registration thingy glitched or something, I had to try again, and again, and again, and again....

That ordeal went on for hours. I had already picked out the "Nerd Guy" avatar, and I had run out of ideas for names, so I typed in Nerd_Guy out of mad frustration.  And just my luck, the registration thingy accepted it! I'd rather be Alex2602, which is my gamertag on Xbox live, but it's too late to change it.
