@micah: I don't know if I'd call it piracy but we can't just upload to the STEX and give credit unless the creator can't be contacted for permission. Otherwise, the decision of where to post them and how to distribute them is up to the creator. That said, I agree that it would be great if more of these were posted on the STEX. It seems that the Japanese BAT community knows all about Simtropolis, so maybe those that feel comfortable enough with English will be encouraged to post their own work here.

Oh really, it makes me wonder if Japanese are trying to get STEX BATs just like we are trying to get their's.

Interestingly enough, many of the Japanese SimCity sites I have seen do refer to Simtropolis and the STEX, and I have seen numerous STEX BATs in city screenshots.

I am not sure, but I would hazard a guess that they have an easier time accessing the STEX, for many can recognize and work through the western alphabet as romanji is relatively more common for them.  For us non-Japanese speakers, however, their texts with kanji and kana scripts still remain pretty much impermiable.  Short of a Japanese keyboard or text editor with the right language support, most of us can't even easily type the Japanese words needed to begin searching untranslated Japanese language sites.  I have to cut-paste those kanji and kana I recognize to use in their search engines.  In fact, I have whole quick notepad files of just cut-pasted kanji and kana words and phrases just for that purpose.

Well, there you go. Hope that new language translator helps out anyone new. And don't worry, it's from Google. You don't have to copy and paste, just simply copy and paste the URL and it will work. Enjoy everyone!

^^Awww, those are cool. More great BATs!

Apparently, if you place the signs facing east-west, they sometimes don't light up. Place them north-south. Thanks to Micah for the online translator. Have updated my post for the seasonal signs with the new info. Oh - and from what I've gathered from reading the discussion about these signs, it seems Odainsaker's right. The Tokyo station in the pic with the signs is not available for download, lots of people are looking for it and the creator - Meta - can't be found.

@godsend: I think it means his home page. Some of the BAT-ers that post on Ragutaro's BBS have their own websites and tell people to go there to download. Kei's home page: http://kei-kk-4u.hp.infoseek.co.jp/

@micah: Though still far from perfect, that's by far the best online translator I've used - much better than babelfish. Thanks for the link.

@chlubear: I assume you're using WinZIP. Try downloading WinRAR -  http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar351.exe . The trial version is free and continues to function after the trial period expires. It extracts the Hiroshima Station files fine for me. You also need it to open .lzh archive files, which are commonly found on the japanese sites.

Also, that building looks very odd looking. I must admit, I can never see that building in my city. On the other hand, those walls look fantastic!!! Once I'm ready for another CJ, I'll put them in there! Thanks for the download link!
