Man I love the concrete walls19.gif.  The shipping docks were also totally sweet44.gif.  Are you going to release all three versions of the new concrete walls?  Anyways good job and I hope to see more of your work in other CJs and on the STEX44.gif

Sloppet, if I may ask... What the heck are you saying? 47.gif

About the walls... Version 2 is perfect. Only bad side is that I guess I'll have to remake half of that one city of mine... Simply to use those new walls...
And I think this is another CJ that I've lurked in for God knows how long, but have never replied. Well, there isn't much to say. Except that it's absolutelyfantasticlyawesomelygreat. One of the best CJs ever to be here. Great work, jeronij. You deserve what you've got.

Sloppet, that was you? You're anti-jeronij? Very funny...  not. 9.gif

Still liking those walls... I say they (the walls) will be released 5 days from now! 29.gif But I really have no clue.

Personally, I like version 2 the best.

Question: Do the trees come up when you plop the walls, or are they separate; and if so, whose trees are they?42.gif'); height=25 alt=Insert smilie 42.gif src=https://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/42.gif width=15 border=0>

I look forward to the next update about Simtropia.19.gif'); height=15 alt=Insert smilie 19.gif src=https://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/19.gif width=15 border=0>

cityhawk: The trees are Cycledoggs Subalpine Fir from the columbus mod. They are available both as props and as mayor+god mode plopables/brushables like the other CP-trees.

Back on topic. Great updates my friend! Your harbors are layed out like no other and have a very nice flow! Great imagination at work there!

As for deciding which walls ~ I think that's best left up to you since you are doing an outstanding job with the BAT so far!

Only one thing I see that might need some detailing ~ the dock piles. I live right near a port with many different kinds of piles and none of them retain a cone shape for very long and are usually flattened at the top. Another common thing to do is to cover the piles with tarps with old care tires. This might look really cool mixed in with with your set-up and help out with the difficulty of recreating the complicated pile textures by hiding them.

Glad to see trade between our cities is going well and Greater Glen Harbor Port Authority would like to exchange a couple of mid range ships for one mega frieghter for overseas commerce in the near future. The people of Glen harbor and its outer ports look forward to the added commerce with Simtropia!

Keep up the good work! Don't know how you manage to do so much in such little time!

Hello, Jeroni.

I can't thing of a better place to be able to write my 300th post on Simtropolis other than here in Simtropia!

Jeroni, you continue to amaze me at the depth and breadth of your talent and creativity.  Not only are you a superb CJer, you've become an excellent BATter.  How you find the time to do both -- let alone just one of them -- is beyond me!

I have been following the development of your new concrete walls and am quite impressed with the results you have been posting.  I look forward to using them once you upload them to the STEX.

Your latest update to Simtropia is just mind-boggling awesome.  What a wonderful, beautiful update!

28.01 through 28.05
Your new cargo docks are excellent, Jeroni.  I am REALLY going to enjoy using these.  They are very well constructed -- busily messy yet, orgainized in the way only a busy dock could be.  You've used NOB's port lots very effectively.  Overall, this port area is very well done!

28.06
Is the tower in this picture part of NOB's port lots?  I am assuming it is given it is right in the middle of the port lot itself.  If this is true then I MUST revisit his lots and use them.  The tower is just beautiful and looks so very nice in your port setting.  It really does give the port an air of antiquity.

28.07
I do like your use of these wonderful ships.  It is a shame they aren't available for download and use.

28.08
Actually, the median of the avenues lends a bit of class to an otherwise working-class neighborhood.  It is as if the City Fathers are trying to beautify an otherwise dirty area by placing these trees and shrubs along the middle of the avenue.

28.10
Thank you, Jeroni, for including this wonderful overview of the finished port area.  I must say again that your CJ skills are excellent and your ability to bring beauty even to a mundane area as a seaport is phenominal.

This has been an excellent update, Jeroni.  Thank you for sharing it with us.

Regards,

Vandy

In the end you will see, You is you and me is me.

I noticed on page 52 that you managed to get the concrete walls to appear under the on and off ramps from the sunken highway ...
How did you do this ? I tried playing with this issue awhile ago and couldn't make any real progress. I thought about asking the NAM folks for the ramp model and then realized that it adjusts to the slope so the model probably wouldn't help (for getting dimensions). Did you just use trial and error until you discovered the right dimensions/angles or did you come up with a technique to ensure the wall texture appears under the ramps from any viewpoint ? Please share. Thanks.

JayStimson: He's using overhanging props. I don't know hos he got the dimensions but when I made my addon for his CMD and Residential walls I used simple mathematics.

My walls are designed for the 15m sunken tool. And the tiles in SC are 16m wide. I've made this image that's explain how to calculate the size of the box that you apply the textures to:

matte6ih.jpg

I made a box that's 21.932 in height, 48 in width ( the width of three tiles in SC 16*3=48 ) and 0.2 in depth. Then I rotated it and applied the textures and rendered it as a prop.

Hope you don't mind me borrowing your thread Jeronij. I'm looking forward to your future walls to see how your solved this 1.gif

I swear I tried exactly the same thing but it didn't work. The lower part of the on/off ramp was just a tad below the prop and the prop showed through there. Hmmm. I'll go back and try again. Thanks.

EDIT: I went back and tried again and ... same problem. Hmmm. Then it dawned on me while running an errand .... it's the dang LODs that were creating the problem. So... using what I learned from jeronji, I made custom LODs to hug the mesh plane I made and ...
VIOLA !!!!

Now jeronij is probably going to have me banned for hacking his CJ. lol I promise I won't do it again.

Now... Your new walls are really good... I can't wait to see them all out on the STEX.
When are you going to update the journal?

    Hello dear Simtropia visitors,

You will have to excuse me for the lack of updates, but the true is that I have several projects that I want to finish, and not much time available. So I have decided to stop this City Journal for .... lets say... two weeks. Yes, I think it is enough.  Mayor Jeronij needs a holidays, and I am sure you are also worried of Simtropia 2.gif.

I am sure some of those projects will be soon seen in the STEX 9.gif.

Thanks to all for the feedback and support. I am sorry for not being more extense today 34.gif. If there is some question in the air, ( and I know there is ) please send me a PM.

    See you in +- 2 weeeks 18.gif
