jeronij, mi amigo,

what you're doing all the time is stunning work. i just can't figure out how you manage this all.
i mean, job, family, playing sc4 on the level you do AND, if this would not be enough, customizing the game in such an awesome way you do!

you're ma very hero!

anyways, your last update and the work on the new walls is awesome. can't wait to see more (both custom work and of simtropia)

but i have one little question, maybe you can help me:
in the introduction, you've mentioned that you're using the windjammer water. I'm using it too, but mine is much more opacity level then yours. can you tell me how could I change this?

Wow another great update.

Where in Simtropia are we ?

About the contrete walls: Well I am not fond of the light contrete texture. I like that old darker textures:
Base%20Muro%20Liso%20ENMARCHA3.jpg

I really like that new contrete textures:
jeronijnewcontretetextures2xb.jpg
For me it looks more realistic.

KEEP UP the good work.44.gif

I for one would love to see some variations on your concrete walls. You terraforming and coastlines is awesome. My new cj  was actually inspired by some of the ideas I have seen here and SCR. Keep on inspiring.

Wow what an amazing update.... Sooo many pictures.

Jeronij,

I think i like the 3rd residencial walls texture (one with the grass at the bottom) because i think its the most realistic even thou its not the prettiests(a little plain15.gif). The others look over the top and will look a little wierd as walls although they are gorgeous textures especially the middle one.

Just some input from me, cant wait for more jeronij, your updates are almost as exciting as getting a paycheck. 2.gif

I really liked 28.11. It looks so realistic.
Oh, I forgot to get a picture of the corner. I'll get one this weekend. Right now, I'm working on a major project for my upcoming CJ. My last one looked ugly. I know I can do much better.

The Port Area is, simply to say, sexy. 3.gif

Well, for the walls: did you try Conform to Slope in the Plugins Manager? There's an option that allows props to orient to slopes... by default that is set to False.

I'd prefer #3 and the new concrete texture. That texture looks excellent.

Hello again dear Simtropis visitors !!!

It is 2:30 AM now at home, but I could not stop working with the textures 3.gif !!!

After reading all you nice (and not so nice) comments and suggestions, I decided to re-attack the concrete walls textures. I

Now Those walls would make a perfect fit to a secret military base or something. They look magnificent.

BTW, I like how you fixed those jagged edges. I hated it when the little half-tile part becomes a horrible 1/4 pyramid thing that creates those horrible edges. I found out that it only appears on sloped diagonal surfaces in the Northwest and Southeast slopes.

I hope you can fix the rest of those...because then I would really WANT that. (goes and blow off some cliffs 3.gif)

    Update 28

The fishermen docks look good. I don't think the High Wealth Props in the avenue look ugly. But maybe that is because I don't like the Low Wealth Prop.3.gif

    Concrete Walls

You did a nice job on the walls. It was hard to decide which I like the most. But after giving it some thought I like version 5 the most.

    Residental Walls

My personal favorite is Residental Wall number 1. Although Wall number 2 is also a good option in my opinion.

    Keep up the good work.44.gif

    Jeronij and others-

I know I promised to shut up about retaining walls, but the recent updates make me break my promise.

I know everyone wanted more weathered walls, but the recent texture updates go overboard, in my opinion.  Retaining walls that weathered would be crumbling and falling down.  The textures might be good for ancient cities that are falling apart at the seams, but otherwise don't reflect structurally sound walls.

When building a retaining wall, the designer tries to take into account the effects of weather and tries hard to reduce that effect, as much as possible.  While concrete has a long life, it is an organic building material and so is subject to decay from natural forces.

The amount of organic (green) growth shown on your newly textured walls, Jeronij, would seriously compromise the walls.  What the new textures show are walls that have been exposed to weather to hundreds, maybe thousands, of years without maintaince.

Concrete's weathering is a process that takes place over time.  The first sign of weathering is the salts that leach out of the wall when they are exposed to rain.  These salts appear first in the areas near joints in the concrete, where rain accumulates as it runs across the face of the wall.  The leached salt shows up as powdery/chalky white stains.  It usually trends downslope of the wall, but can travel horizontally along horizontal seams in the concrete.  Next time you walk by an expsosed concrete wall, look at it and study the pattern of weathering.  Where you see white spots or streaks, rub your finger over it, feel the powdery residue and and taste it...it won't hurt you.  It will taste chalky and slightly salty.  The leached salts that sit on the surface of the wall draw other salts and organic compounds out of the concrete, especially when aided by the presence of water (rain).  This is the beginning of the decay of the wall.  It happens pretty fast, depending on climate, but even in dry climates, the wall starts to leach it's salts within the first year of it's existence.

Once the salts start to leach, mold is not far behind.  If you have a RL wall to study as an example, you will notice that a couple of inches away from the edge of the salt stains, little black spots begin to appear.  Mold, being a life form, literally eats at the surface it settles on, which in this case is concrete, and so further acts to decay the wall.  Over time, the mold (a single cell life form) so decays the surface of the concrete that higher organisms are able to find a good home...lichen, usually, and sometimes mosses.  These higher life forms continue to eat the wall, literally, using the water that runs down the face of it as well as the molecular nutrients released from the concrete by the salts and lichen/mosses.

It is usually at the appearance of green living things on the face of the wall that efforts are undertaken to remove same.  If the first green things are not removed from a wall, bigger and more agressive green things soon follow...small weeds lodging in the cracks made by the salts, mold, and lichen.  Once the wall had decayed enough to support higher plant life forms, it's basically toast.  If the weeds are not removed, small bushes move in, then small trees...and all of them eat at the wall, destroying it's stucture integrity.

So...the new textures you are showing tell a story of an extremely expensive wall built and then left to rot.  Not very realistic.

As for the lesser slope at the bottom of the walls, I wouldn't worry too much about that. The gentle slopes normally encountered in SC4 wouldn't require them.

    to Update 28

It looks great and it is really realistic!
    I like all your pictures!

    to the Walls

In my oppinion,Version 4 or 5 looks great, but (when it orders to the Versions) the previous looks better than Version 4 and 5. However all versions are looking great (Version 4/5 and the previous Version). 44.gif44.gif

Hi Jeronij, about the concrete walls I like over the rest, the textures V1 and V5 because they have a more nice visual effect than the others.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office />

About the residential wall textures, mmmm

I prefer version 5, except I'd prefer it to be a cross between that texture and the unweathered version. Not too weathered, mind you. Too much weather-ment can look ugly, and sadly, you know what that means.

Version Five does look very realistic and works as 'false 3D'. I just have to say, with your CJ and your walls, you are putting alot of time and effort working on perfecting these walls. You are doing a fantastic job designing and modding these walls and I commend you on that, and I am looking forward to another fantasticJeronij product on the STEX.

Great project you've made here Jeronij. Although it would be probably better to put it in a separate Custom Content (Jeronij Battling the Bats) then in the CJ. On the otherhand placing it under Simtropia may attract a different audience. Well I leave that decision to you.

I like the suggested walls although I agree with Lora here, the texture is a bit to green when used. I have not seen any pictures of your New Concrete jpg. Although #5 is based on this texture #5 is too green. But I like the texture with the big vertical beam! I just LOVE36.gif those proposed residential textures.

Great update on Peraires! How you manage to make the area look so realistic is beyond me. You're a true craftman!
That coming update (drool, drool) I love those R$ appartment buildings. I have them quite a lot and do not mind at all 11.gif

    Hey Jeronij,

There has been a long time since I last posted in this thread but here is my two cents on the new retainment walls lots.
The best textures so far are, in order, number 2 and number 1. The original comes right after, that really old one that was in the lot when it first came out. The other textures just look awesome alone but on the lots it just sucks.
