Memo: you are not giving fully correct information. The first four digits are the personal IID reference, the fifth digit indicates wealth in ALL types and 0-4 should not be used in that position unless you make a full set of textures for each wealth level.

Dedgren, you need to use 5-f in the fifth position to solve your problem. If you have any further questions please send geoffhaw a PM at BSC or SC4D.

As far as I am aware Memo is right.  Unless you are making a wealth dependent texture you should avoid using 0-3 in the fifth digit (reading from the left).  There  are only 4 wealth types:

    0 - no wealth

    1 - low wealth

    2 - medium wealth

    3 - high wealth

The last 3 are obvious, but the 'no wealth' setting is still a bit of a mystery to me I must admit.  To be safe, I've always avoided using it in digit 5 just to be sure.

However, setting the wealth level of a Lot to 0 does have an interesting effect on the textures.  If Dedgren changed the wealth setting of his test lot to 0, the textures should appear as was intended.  The wealth setting of 0 for a Lot causes the game to ignore the fifth digit 'rule' for textures in that Lot.

I wasn't aware of any special significance of the seventh digit.  I don't remember having any problems with this, but I'll have a play with them to see what happens.

Geez, if I'd known I was doing the equivalent of high-voltage wiring at home...

You folks are always the greatest- I think I've grasped what's up. We'll see...

...the proof, as they say, is in the LOTting...

Have a really nice Sunday, and week ahead.

If I've understood your post correctly, you should be ok with BD0(0-7)(4-F)00(0-F). To avoid making any wealth dependent textures, don't use 0-3 as the fifth digit.

Hey i'd like to reserve a texture range svp. Will these never run out btw? 4.gif

BTW: the SC4tool gives me the range; 0xFC782DA5 to 0xFC783188

Though I should avoid using the numbers 0 to 3 as the fifth digit if I don't want my texture to be wealth dependant? I got that correctly - no?

    Thanks!

@ Howling your range is F3000000 to F307FFFF

Yes, of course the ranges will run out eventually - but not for a while yet I hope!

And yes too, please avoid using 0 to 3 as the fifth digit reading from the left. (In your case, F3003000 for example.)

I have no idea why SC4Tool gave you the range you quoted. A quick way to make SC4Tools allocate IIDs from your IID range is to create a txt file. In your case, it needs to be the following:

    0xf3000000,0xf307ffff

Save it as Range.txt and put it into the System folder of SC4Tools

After that, every time you open the Texture Creator part of SC4Tools, it will only allocate IIDs from your range. I would advise you to keep a list of which IIDs you have used, as it will be very useful after a while.

Woah! Sorry for my absence recently. Now for a quick bit of catching up...

@ Strechnitz your range is F3200000 to F327FFFF

@ flippymaxime your range is F3280000 to F32FFFFF

Please bear in mind that if you want traffic textures you will have to do either one of two things:

If you want your texture to replace a standard Maxis texture when you drag a transport network from the transport menu, you will have to allocate an Transport Texture IID that already exists in the game.

If you want to create a traffic texture for use in one of your own Lots, you will have to Transit Enable your Lot using a tool such as SC4Tool.

    @ N1_2888 your range is F3300000 to F337FFFF

Finally @ warrior and anybody else who wants to make SC4Tool automatically allocate IIDs from your personal range, do the following:

Create a txt file and save it as Range.txt and put it into the System folder of SC4Tools

In warrior's case, it would need to be the following:

    0xf3180000,0xf31fffff

After that, every time you open the Texture Creator part of SC4Tools, it will only allocate IIDs from your range. I would advise anyone to keep a list of which IIDs you have used, as it will be very useful after a while.
