^ I concur.

Great choice of building! I have witnessed the construction of one BAT of it years ago, but it never saw the light of day. Here's to hoping you'll succeed in getting that building onto the STEX!

I'm currently looking for interesting buildings and architecture to model.

Looking for Chinese buildings, institutional buildings, hotels, civi archtecture, residential houses (Frank Lloyd Wright stlye or similar). Hoping for building that are not all that well known.

    Ideas are welcome, taking requests.

Are you still looking for ideas? For a hotel, perhaps you could try your hand at the Top Of The World Hotel in Barrow, Alaska? Or the Okoume Palace Hotel in Gabon? We don’t see many buildings from Africa.

This thing is not yet done. It's still missing a bunch of entrances and some elements need some tweaking. I gave it its huge glass dome covering which will need some working as well, this is just a quick dirty render as without the glass I wouldn't see anything. No bumps, displacements, spec maps or even anything to reflect. Also, hell the glass panel frames ended up way too huge.

Unfortunately, most of the modeling isn't even visible because of the design and the perspektive and it's also pretty hard to get good references of some parts as well as to get an idea of some of the dimensions (reason why this isn't an exact model, some of the window sizes and spacing are way off).

Due to it's glass-everywhere-concept it takes quite some time to render while I only have my laptop to work on so I'll leave it with one rendering this time.

I'm happy I got to learn so many people on this site, many users supported me, helped me, I made RL friends here who I'm still close with to this day and I'm pretty thankful this forum is still around after seeing how many have been shut down in the past.

Thank you all for 10 amazing years!

Very cool background story, always great to hear those!  Absolutely love your work so far!

Nanchang, Jiangxi is a place that while i have never been has special meaning for me personally so I hope that you are able to complete that building!  Nanchang is on my list of to-dos as part of my real world map collections here on the STEX as well.

The other two look awesome as well!  Look fwd to seeing more and keep it up!

    Congratulations on 10 years! *

And that was many of our experiences starting BATs. I struggled to make boxes and by luck I managed to arrange some boxes so that they looked like something. The windows I made were textures I made in Photoshop (at least I started out already having experience with Photoshop) that included the glass and window frames and I applied them to boxes. Actually modeling the window frames seemed like an impossibility to me. And then there are all of the people who download a 3d program and instantly make good looking models. I don't know how they do it.

The new BAT looks wonderful and I'll happily find a place for it in my cities. *:)
