Hello everyone and welcome! This journal will feature my newest creation in CitiesXL 2012. The city is fictional but very similar to several medium sized cities in Sweden. My inspiration for this one is the one I'm living in currently, Umeå.

Personal: I study spatial planning in Umeå university. Im 28 years young, I love architecture, spatial planning, my apple toys and playing games :)

And now to the fun!

The city is currently at about 140.000 habitants including the nearest suburbs Vinköping hamn & Österby fälten.

Next update: More pictures form around the city + some future thoughts of the city.

Future update: The new infrastructure project – Vinköpings projektet. A highway connection to the city.

Future update: The metro system + maps.

Future update: The university area + Vinköping hamn and Österby fälten.

I don't play Cities XL, but this is a pretty interesting setup! I visited Sweden last winter (VERY cold compared to where I'm living!), and I spent most of my time in the tiny town of Enköping, which is probably why the spelling of your fictional town here caught my eye. Would it be possible to have snow here? Not trying to stereotype all of Scandinavia's weather, I just feel it would be quite fitting. :golly:

Some very intriguing work here, keep it up!

Greetings! Today I will start off by showing some more pictures of the city. Two are from the university area since the university always are eager to attract more people to the large variety of programs/courses it holds! After that we will take a look at Vinköpings plans for future growth. Last but not least we take a look at the regional traffic authority and it’s plans for a new highway that will pass outside the city and it’s connections to Vinköping and surroundings. Enjoy and feel free to comment! (This is only a selection more can be seen at my blog.)

    Part 1

The town hall in all it's glory.

    Part 2

The next picture is taken from Vinköping city planning office. Green colored areas are planned areas for future growth. Blue are current city districts and red are restricted from development or under investigation.

Well, thats it for today! next update will be about the new highway project that is being planned. A picture from the regional authority can be found here!

Yoshiisland - Hope you enjoyed Sweden :) This city will not have snow but I will do some future cities using a snow-map. Since I'm from northern Sweden I'm very used to snow and can't imagine what winter would be without it :P However it still haven't snowed here where I live yet, and the interesting thing about that is that it's the first time in like 160 years since we haven't had snow at this time... blame it on global warming?

Today we will have a look at “Vinköpingsprojektet”. A national infrastructure project for better communications in the country. This project part is being investigated and executed by Trafikmyndigheten nord, a regional traffic authority managed by the state. Vinköping city is also funding this project by building a connection from the highway to the city center. This also affects a large area of residential housing that has to be removed and rebuilt elsewhere. All this has already been planned for a long time and actions are well underway. To

This first picture shows the size of the project and also includes the city of Vinköpings part and wishes for the projects affection in the municipality.

    The connection to Österby fälten.vinkopingprojektet3.jpg

Hope you enjoyed these pictures! next update will host pictures from a project of a new central bridge connecting the central city directly to the university area. Also more picture on how this project affected and changed the entry to the city. Stay tuned!

This is a great little city. I haven't had much interest in CitiesXL after the botched Monte Cristo attempts. It really hasn't had much appeal either since, from most pictures, seems to be all about skyscrappers. This though makes me think maybe I will try it one day when I upgrade my computer. You've got a very nice and varied low to mid-rise city which is more my style :)
