Game Rules

1. You may only make one guess for each sports match per round.

2. A guess made or edited once a sports match has commenced will become invalid.

The Warriors were lucky to get as far as they did but it's still sad that they lost :( The Junior Warriors won their final though! :D

also, getting the crowd involved in the haka was awesome!

New Zealand vs. Argentina: 30-16. I've missed all of Argentina's games so far... and I think NZ has had it a bit easy. Has the potential to be a close game.

New Zealand wins 23-20.

I have absolute no knowledge of rugby but I heard both teams are playing well so far.

To keep the game moving, I think I might as well have a guess:

    New Zealand: 42 - 18 Argentina

New Zealand have been in good form, but Argentina have been quite solid in defence so far. It'll be a good battle, but overall I expect New Zealand to win quite comfortably.

Looking forward to it, should be a good game! :)

    All Blacks 40

    Pumas 8

ABs playing like a runaway train, Carter or no Carter. Canada won't leak 79 points too often, and they did completely steamroll an admittedly bad French side.

Meanwhile, Argentina have looked physically incapable of scoring points against even mediocre opposition so far. Losing to Georgia at halftime? Really?

    2nd - Joe90 - 40 - 8 (9) - 3pts

    3rd - Prens - 30 - 18 (11) - 1pt

Ahh, off by one point. I factored in NZ getting three tries instead of two and less penalties, but Weepu played and kicked well which put the goal kicking ahead further than I thought it would. I'll take a couple of days to guess the next score, not sure if NZ will win, but hoping they will :D

You could probably have guesses for 3 or 4 games per week to make sure everyone is covered.

A complete stab in the dark. Union is so boring I normally fall asleep before the final score, so I don't know anything about how the two teams are playing. This one will be a game of penalties. What sort of sport is decided by whoever concedes the fewer penalties anyway!

    Rugby League rules! :P

I read that and glanced over at your location - England. That explains everything about your opinion of Union!

Luckily England and all the teams that play dour, defensive rugby have left the premises so we can have some entertaining games at the business end of the competition.

    Australia 16 - 23 New Zealand

Wow, this is a tough one to call. Both sides have injury concerns, so I expect it to be a hard fought game. But hopefully with the slight extra fire power and home advantage, NZ can win and progress to their third Rugby World Cup Final.

    Go the All Blacks!

You could probably have guesses for 3 or 4 games per week to make sure everyone is covered.

I understand that not everyone is interested in the Rugby World Cup (e.g. people from the US and Canada). Therefore, after the conclusion of the Rugby World Cup, I will offer a broader range of sports to encourage more people to participate in the game.

It would be a great help if anyone could advise me on key upcoming sports matches (e.g. basketball, American football, hockey), as I don't have a great knowledge of the teams involved in these sports. These matches could then easily be included in future rounds, without me doing a huge amount of research. Also, as Joe 90 suggested, it would be possible to then offer a few different sports matches per round.

It doesn't bother me too much that England are rubbish and out. I come from the particular area of Northern England where Rugby League is king. It's not my fault I don't like Union... it's in my blood :D

Umm, Not sure with this one, lets just hope its going to be a fast moving game, so All blacks 26 - 13 Australia

There was a really interesting article in the dominion post that explained what life was like the last time the australians beat the All Blacks in Eden park, I'll try dig it up if I find it tonight.

Defiantly a hard choice this round.

    Round 3 Results - Rugby World Cup 2011 - Semi Final 2

Final score: Australia 6 - 20 New Zealand

A very committed and thorough performance from New Zealand. They had dominant territory and possession throughout the game, and were also very solid in defence. I think France will definitely need to improve their game to challenge them in next week's final.

Congratulations to yuui4 for making the closest guess, narrowly beating Joe 90 in second place.

Here are the results of the top three, with the guess difference in brackets:

    1st - yuui4 - 12 - 19 (7) - 5pts

    2nd - Joe 90 - 14 - 19 (9) - 3pts

    =3rd - Hamish - 13 - 26 (13) - 1pt

    =3rd - hittwice99 - 16 - 23 (13) - 1pt

    Round 4 - Rugby World Cup 2011 - Final

    France V New Zealand - Sunday October 23rd - 21:00 NZST

The big one - and an exact repeat of the 1987 final.

    Let the battle commence!

    Well being as i'm in last place, i've had a closer look at each team and it seems like france only beat wales cuz of that silly red card and only beat england cuz england were poor. so i'm going to say;

    France 10- New Zealand 36

    France 12 - 32 New Zealand

Especially after last weeks performance, NZ are strong favourites to win. France were very unimpressive in their semi final against Wales, narrowly beating them mainly because of a dubious red card decision. Both teams have very contrasting styles of play - NZ being flowing and attacking, and France having a more tactical defensive game. NZ will look to make an early impact on the game, as they did against Australia. If they can repeat this and put the France defence under pressure, I expect scoring opportunities to be presented.

Remember, funny things can always happen in finals, but this time I think New Zealand will be too strong.

Round 4 Results - Rugby World Cup 2011 - Final

Final score: France 7 - 8 New Zealand

Wow, a very close and tense game - closer than anyone expected I think. France were much improved this time and thoroughly tested NZ throughout the whole 80 minutes. There were deciding moments in the game such as the injury to Aaron Cruden, and when Stephen Donald came on and kicked a vital penalty goal for NZ. There were also missed scoring opportunities for both sides, France crucially missing two penalty kicks and a drop goal.

Based on their tournament performance as a whole, they were the form team and deserved to win. But in the end it took courage and determination from New Zealand to hold on to a one point lead, and earn their second world cup - ending a 24 year drought.

Because of the unexpectedly low scoreline, the guesses were quite off the actual score this round. However, the guess differences were quite close.

Congratulations goes to BoserF for making the closest guess, narrowly beating TekindusT in second place by one point. yuui4 finished in a close third place, gaining a vital point to go to the top of the leaderboard.

Here are the results of the top three, with the guess difference in brackets:

    1st - BoserF -------13 - 20 (18) - 5pts

    2nd - TekindusT - 14 - 20 (19) - 3pts

    3rd - yuui4 ----------13 - 23 (21) - 1pt

Check the Leaderboard for the updated overall standings.

Round 5 - Soccer, NHL, NFL

In this round, there will be three games to guess the score from. You may make one guess for each of the three games. For each game, full points will be awarded for the top three guesses:

    Game 1: Chelsea V Arsenal - Soccer - English Premier League - Saturday October 29th - 07:45 EDT (11:45 GMT)

    Game 2: Washington V Vancouver - Hockey - NHL - Saturday October 29th - 22:00 EDT (02:00 GMT)

    Game 3: New England V Pittsburgh - American Football - NFL - Sunday October 30th - 16:15 EDT (20:15 GMT)

    My guesses:

    Chelsea 3 - 2 Arsenal

    Washington 3 - 1 Vancouver

    New England 34 - 23 Pittsburgh
