How do you organize your plugins

I started with 3 subfolders for RCI, but now it has mutated into ~30 subfolders for Parks, Civic, NAM, etc. And folders for Teams like BSC, NDEX etc. (in which each plugin has its own folder). About to break 4 gigs haha. I just wish there were an easier way to deselect certain plugins to make architecturally distinct towns. Manually going in there and removing individual files is just too much!

Look around and you will find a similar topic about six months ago.

I keep my Download structure and my Plugin structure in parallel as far as possible. This makes editing easier. Some sites (PEG for example) have a structure they want you to use, but this embeds easily in my system. I just keep it flexible, and mostly by author.

I just wish there were an easier way to deselect certain plugins to make architecturally distinct towns. Manually going in there and removing individual files is just too much!

I have my plugins arrange into theme folders (Coastal, MTP, SPAM, CAM, etc.) with each containing items that I would very rarely ever need at the same time. In each theme I have the folder arranged mostly by creator. All together, I have about 8G in plugins, but I only use between 0.5 to 1.5 at a given time, depending on which city/region I'm working in.

A program which makes this a bit simpler, and does what you asked, is Startup Manager. It allows you to select which plugin folders you want to appear for individual regions. There are two versions available (Ver 2) and (Ver 3). Version 2 is the easier to use, but version 3 allows more control. You might check them out.

Mine isn't organized and the scroll inside the folder has shrunk to less that 5mm. I've been meaning to organize it but it's such an intimidating task that I've kinda put it off. It will happen someday though.

My plugin folder is reasonably trimmed in another way. I keep the mods in a "Z" folder and all the other plugins sit in the plugin folder with no folder trees, readmes or images to clutter things up. My download folder is where I have set up a hierchy of sorting folders so I can move and place things as well as keep backups.

I have found most of the core files to be reasonably well named so I can find them in the plugin folder without much work.

I've actually started to organize my plugins folder. My catagories are things like "stores and shops", "dependencies and props", "Apartments and Towers" and on and on. It helps to have in organized, now my game doesn't take 10 minutes to load!

And if you defragment your disk and run disk cleanup regularly, it will be even better.

Organize? o.O not thought of that yet. It only takes a few seconds to load the game and I rename things to make sure they are all in a certain place of my plugins folder.

My game takes 10 seconds to load and The files are organized by file type and by alphabetic order at the same time.

I don't like renaming things because then BSC Cleanitol can't detect the files I need to remove when I get a new prop pack. That's why I don't datpack either.

Agreed. I do use files2dat to consolidate BAT lots that come with more than one file, but I still keep them as individual items. I don't use cleanitol because my plugin suite doesn't get so big I can't handle it manually.

The last time I tested Cleanitol, it wouldn't run on my machine (Linux) even though I had loaded the required libraries.
