Hey Choco,

Even though there was only one mosaic, it was still of a very high standard, as usual.

I really like the newspaper and how it pops up every now and then in your CJ

Keep up the great work mate

Bye for now,

Choco: it is so amazing to see you near 50 pages!

If you're having deja vu about me and a second comment, I'm on a whirlwind tour of all the City Journals I read.

If I posted 498 in Anduin Valley, and brought 499 to Terra, but I haven't gone to Kinata for 501, New Carpathia for 502, and Galesfe City for 503, what's missing?

The reason I'm HERE.

Choco, you introduced me to city journals as a whole. I was with you from about page 20.

On 10 March, you gave me a citizenship: my first. Since then, it's been supplemented with two more: Anduin Valley and Terra (the latter is a curiosity: it does not offer citizenships, but I have provided highway concepts and town concepts for it: I like to call it a citizenship).

Now, when I said I had posted 499 but not 501, what was missing?

A magic number. That number is...500!

That's right! 500! I am so excited to bring 500 to Green Depra!

But, I have to counterpoint this with some major news about one of your allies. See my next post (which will be 504, because I've got 3 to go).

TRACKER NEWS SERVICES

18 JUNE 2006

4:51PM UTC-8

Sometimes, City Journals can be unstable: computers cause the demise of a City Journal, whether due to a virus, a corrupted save file, a hard drive crash, or some other symptom. It happened to one I had watched closely during my early days on Simtrop. I have a heavy heart: I have to announce a demise that could crash some stuff you had scheduled. It's the crash of an SCJU ally, of a great City Journal, and of a close ally you'd had since ITS inception.

This demise and crash is the one...of Simtropolis thread 71033. The crash of--

(Magpie: could you stop shooting those birds?)

--Ki

(the rest did not come through: the telegram was faulty. Only the Ki came through from the CJ's name. The comment above the abrupt end about "Magpie", and the noting of thread ID 71033, are all the clues that you have.)

Aussie played great against Brasil. Sorry to see them loose!

(I am talking RL football right now).

The update is great. Short but great. Nice that story about Orange Derovians migrating to green depra. You could even build a Medditeranian city quarter now.

I see cars and trees next to the roads. Does that mean you are able to use Jeronij's street Mod together with your red-bricked streets?

Go out and celebrate those A's. 39.gif

Thanks everyone for your comments!  Thanks Tracker for that great paper.  Its very sad to hear about Kinata, and as I said in the previous update I offer my most sincere greavences.

    Anyway...

    Update 41!

Today we are again looking at Green Depra's newest city Barton Lakes...

Further growth in the area has seen many more people move in, the latest being a large group of equestrian fanatics.  This group lobbied and lobbied the council until they were forced to build a nice equestrian school for their budding young children, before the council gave in there were reports of protesters outside the council building shouting "Think of the children!".  Authorities have blamed a lack of things to complain about for the soccer mums over-reaction.

    bartonlakespond106in6.jpg

A new railway line has also been welcomed in, bringing tourists in on day trips to take a fresh bit to eat from the small town's market.  The market is renound across GD for having the best corn on a cob, after the news spread out that they completely dip the corn in hot butter all trains going into Barton Lakes were packed with hungry citizens.  On a completely seperate note there has been a sharp spike in cholesterol-related heart attacks in the Barton Lakes area, health officials are puzzled by the cause.

    bartonlakesmarketshops1dn2.jpg

    bartonlakesmarketshops2zk5.jpg

The train station has become a main source of transport to the Barton Lakes folk, with most having jobs outside the area, many ditching their cars in favor of a cleaner way of travel.

    bartonlakescarparksif0.jpg

The local Herb store is renound for its exotic variety of home grown herbs.  The herb store manager was arrested late yesterday after the store accidentally sold an elderly woman some of his 'private herbs'.

    bartonlakesherbs1zj0.jpg

And finally I leave you with a shot of a calm field, untouched by human (or sim) hands....

    bartonlakesfieldstz9.jpg

Thats all for today folks!  Hope you enjoyed it!  Personal comments will be first thing tomorrow morning, but right now I'm off to bed! 24.gif

    thanks-for-reading.jpg

    Cheers, choco.

    Sleep tight!

    chocolatemax -

WOW! Really gorgeous update! The nature shots are of course stunning! Really nice use of the equestrian lot! Everything is simply beautiful!

My only complaint (if I was looking really, really hard) is that your deadwoods windmill water pumps look a little out of place clustered together. They look like they belong in a field of cows or something, but not by the side or the road. 42.gif what to do, that's the question. My own way around that has been to create a small single tile lot with no base texture and the only prop being the cow or horse effects. Then I made another version of the windmill pump without the base texture as well. After that its easy to just create a pasture looking area with the windmill in the middle surounded by cows or horses!

As I said before, though, its not really a big deal; just a small suggestion that would add to your already overwhelming realism.

Cannot wait till the next update!

That was a great update, and I am also wondering where you got that train station. I especially love the Red Brick Only streets, as it goes well with the SSM by JRJ. Ugh, confusing, isn't it? TopCliff
