i have made it a little bit bigger (stretched the X and Y) so the height hasn't changed, now i will fit nicely on a 7x3 lot.

thanks tuna! i shouldn't have a problem rendering thing one! it's a pretty fast preview render.

here's the night shot:

The night lighting is looking great jtportland. May I suggest you add some railings to the sections that jut out, just to make them look a little more finished off.

Looks great Jes!!!  May I suggest you do some shrinking to get it to fit on a 6x3 instead of 7?  I think the vast majority of people still use 6x6 blocks for their CBDs (I could be wrong)...

Totally up to you though :)

the one thing that i love about the building is the fact that it is so tall, yet somehow looks proportionaly perfect.  I have no idea how you did it, and I have never seen it done before.

I think 7x3 is fine as this building deserves a much bigger site that the usual 6x6. The SWFC construction site, for example, is 15x7 if I recall, and if people really want this building to fit into their CBDs, they will definitely make room for it. The proportions is the most important part to consider, especially in light of kd5rax's comment, and I think the much bigger version is a remarkable improvement.

WOW! That tower is looking great!

So, just how tall is this thing?

I use 4x4, so I would like it to be 9x4 please18.gif J/K that would be good or me, but who else zones 4x4 in a CBD? BTW- I counted, the tower is 126 storeys, I'm guessing about 620m, so it's just a little taller than the top of the Freedom Tower Stick. About 620m, (2 035') This will be the tallest released. If DT will release his MB tower, it's 2200 feet (670m) but not as good as his more recent stuff... Burj Dubai is 710m (2330') so we still have a way to go! The tower looks great, very realistic for something that tall.

I have 6x13 plots, 7x13, 6x6, and 7x6 plots, so I can accomodate almost anything, and this still gives me space for trees, a park or two, and some parking garages.

tuna, i'll get thoes textures to ya today, thanks again for rendering it for me! 19.gif

fox, thanks! and good idea, i was wondering what i should do with thoe offset roofs.

geoff, before i could fit on 6x2, but then i released it was way too skiny to looks realistic, so i stretched it both on the x and y so now its a little more fat hard to tell the dif though. and i think if people want it they can fit it on 7x3, or they can just make their own lot in LE 18.gif

this might have to be 7x4 or 8x4 lol, im not sure yet.

kd5, thanks! making this building looking proportionaly perfect was my main concern, since this is such a tall building! i'm glad u think i pulled it off.

queetz, thanks! im glad you like the larger version

dt, im not sure what measurement BAT uses, but it is about 460 to the roof, and 510 to the spire.

vid, wow, you counted the floors!? 126 floors, what a weird number lol. and if u want a 9x4 lot you can easily do that in LE 2.gif

7x3? Dude, that means no growables! Maybe there could be two versions; a 6x3 for growables, and a 7x3, though only for plops and LMs.

126 floors, and only 460, you're gonna have to strech it a wee bit on the Z axis, at least to about 550m to make it fit right. a floor should be 5 m according to the scale, since the game schmuches things so much. I multiplied 126 by 5 to get the 620. If it's 460 to the roof, it's just a little taller than Sears tower. Taipei is 50 metres more, and 25 floors less. And I might make my own lot in LE, but if it's between 9x4, it will fit in the grids. I can change the map a bit to fit larger lots, i usaully to anyway.

tuna, im sure i'll release sevral different versions of lot sizes. and i'll be sure to include 8x4 19.gif

bob, i think that i CAN make growables, but i doubt they would ever grow lol

5m per floor? isn't that a bit much? if not i'd be happy to make this taller!

jt, I don't think that 5 m would really be a stretch; Van der Rohe's TD Centre is about 30 floors, though it stands at 51 stories. I think that it'd look better that way. However, the CN Tower is supposedly 145 floors at ~1,800 feet... 3 hundred and something metres.

I'd personally have 5 m per floor. (Around 1.5 storeys... whereas TD is about 2 a pop.)

each unit in gmax is basically 1 meter (3.28 feet)... which means that this tower is about 1510 feet (or 12' per floor).  This is a very realistic slab to slab height... I don't think it needs to be changed at all.

Nothing over 6 tiles in any direction will grow! So unless you plan on making this a landmark/ploppable only (YUCK), you have to reduce it's size a bit.

bob, i think 12' per floor is enough (like geoff said).

iamrobk, i'd like to see this growable too, i'll release another version of this building, same style, but make it not so long and maybe more taller? that will be 2ITC!

thanks DT! this one is just about done...19.gif

Hi PDA, I lost my excitement over Simcity 4 a while ago, but I'm going to start playing again. I really like these buildings that you have created a lot. Thanks as well !

I love the idea of 2ITC, but could it have a couple of differences, style-wise? Like the external spire... Maybe, 1ITC could have the lighter windows, and some type of designer Goldiva lighting, and 2ITC could have the darker ones, and different Goldiva coloured lights?

What do you think? (BTW, check out the BAT Fair thread! Post and say what you think about it!)

The BAT tutorial says 5m is average scale in SC4, so anything from 4-6m is acceptable. and you should make it tall. Very tall. Extremely tall. To the moon...25.gif

asnd the CN tower claims to be 147 floors, (it's 7 in the main part, 1 or 2 in the top part) and that's at about 450m. The total height is 553 m.

And you MUST remember that the game schmuches things. It will make a 500m tower look like a 300m tower, so this will probably end up shorter than ed's Sears tower.

Not really, VID- I have a building that is 320 meters that looks 320 meters, so this should be just fine.

Well, we have a building shorter than Taipei 101 and Sears tower, so when this is released, it probably wont be the tallest in the game. He should raise the hight anyway, to about 510m or more.

Thanks Chrisé! At any rate... should this really be growable? It will sort of lose its lustre if there's 10 of them in the skyline, no?

Yeah, but when half of your downtown is the same thing, that could kill the city, especially if they have a considerable amount of jobs. I prefer plopping them anyway.

well right now this is taller than Washington Tower. so that will give you something to compair to ingame, cus i don't know how it compairs to anything else

bob, cool ideas! what colors are you suggestoins from goldivas window stash?

im starting to agree with geoff, this tall building isn't for everycity, nor is it ment to be in a cities skyline multilple times!

and about the height, i will render it, i lik how the building looks now, if it isn't as tall as i hoped for that's fine too, i will just make another builing taller.
