    Hi peeps.

    Just wondering if any one can help me out on a little issue I'm having.? Basically, i'm trying to run a sunken highway over a "bump" so I can add an on/off ramp at ground level (not sinking to the sunken highway level). But when ever I run the highway over this bump, it flattens out even! Is there any way to prevent this at all?

    I'm trying to do a tutorial, and I've done exactly every step the same, but yet, he can keep this bump, where as I can't. Here is what I mean :

    Video tutorial : http://www.youtube.c...h?v=n9HYbnsE3GM

    On .30 secs, I am unable to put 2x road/street pieces on each side of the highway as I get this;

    And then when I try to do the highway over the bump as in 1:51 of the video, I get this flattened look;

    Before the highways is layed:

    rampbefore.png

    And the flattened terrain after:

    If any one could help me on this, i'd be very grateful...

    Thank you.

    You might consider the following:

    - Try to place the ramp pieces in the flattened terrain (it could be that they do fit with this terrain)

    - try to create a larger area within the highway ditch with the shallower depth (and thus cancel out the flattening)

    - Get the NAM (if you don't have it) to use the puzzle pieces for overpasses--there are some that allow roads to transition directly between being at ground level and elevated between two portions of flat terrain at different elevations (you place them at the edge of the sunken highway ditch, then add the overpass piece between the sloped transitions).

    If you have a slope mo in place, it may be that the maximum slope it enforces to the network is too small to allow you to keep your bump--either replace it for a less strict slope mod or remove it entirely.

    I would also recommend hole digging lots and, if need be, a slope mod (Search for them on the STEX) to go along with the NAM. Terraforming a hole just to make a sunken highway is rather messy. Hole digging lots are faster, and more precise. The slope mod makes for more smoother (and therefore realistic) slopes.

    The fact that you tried that method shown in the vid and ended up with flattened terrain suggests that you might have a slope mod already. The tactic shown in the vid only works if you have no slope mod at all.

    It is entirely possible to do what you want you may just need more room especially where you are trying to make your level crossing. All the transit networks have varying acceptable slope values which are modded with slope mods; over the long it will dictate how many tiles you need to have to lay down from sunken to level.

    One really important thing to do is to drag your network from the top of the crossing into the sunken for each side. DO NOT drag the network across in one shot since it will just go ahead and level it out in the process. When dragging from the crossing into the sunken have a finger on you ESC key if the network is not visually going down on a slope to where you want it; this will help you avoid terraforming the spot repeatedly while you place it.

    If you want shorter rampways up to the level crossing then you are indeed best off using the NAM transition pieces.

    Hey guys, thanks for the replies and sorry for being late to say thank you.

    I do have a slope mod installed, as well as NAM but I guess, I just got to get used to it... especially the NAM pieces but by the looks, im getting there lol.

    Ok, thanks guys, guess i'll be off to experiment further with the NAM and thanks once again!
