So, with the current mess that is SC5, how many have gone back to ye ol faithful SC4? I'm just curious, as I feel like going through the exchange again and getting all these lovely BATs that are still coming out as well as all the dependencies for the previous wonderful work that have been on here for some time. I also seen a Journal update on the mainpage the other day (I forget the title) and WOW, honestly, who needs SC5 when SC4 looks so much more of a beautiful game IMHO. That journal update has got me having a major headache as I don't know whether to wait for this mess to be sorted out over at EA or just spend a nice couple (or more) hours stiffling through the archieves and bringing back SC4 to my world? I suppose I'm just looking for inspiration? None the less, it would be interesting to know others intentions on how they will proceed with the SimCity world that we all love and enjoy?

I think I've found the problem. It seems that my graphics card "profile" for games is the problem. It seems that certain settings are affecting the lighting within SC4. I just tried to put everything on "software controlled" for certain settings like AAx etc and it seems to be correcting its self now, although it isn't 100% right but a BIG difference to how it was in the above pictures. I'm sorry to have wasted your time and hopefully by doing this to all the options that its available to do so will correct it to the norm. Sorry, I never played SC4 before I had this Gfx card so didn't think to check the profile settings for the card its self. Thank god for this site, as I would have just taken the current situation as if it was the games "best". Can't wait to use the custom content that can be found on this wonderful site. Sorry I never see your message before I went off to do some more screens, but here they are anyway. I hope they are a little more clear for what i'm trying to show. If you look at the power plant, it lights up nicely. But compared to everything else, it just doesn't look right. The streets just look terrible, and this is consistent throughout. Just a close up to clarify what im on about when I say about the streets looking terrible. This is one where the lights actually flicker on, it took me a while to successfully capture it whilst they were flickering. Same spot as above but the lights have now gone back to how it is when i'm not scrolling/zooming etc. My system specs by the way are : Win7 64bit. i5 Sandybridge. Radeon HD 6870 8gb Ram.

It's just the same to be honest. If I use the Uniform Street Lighting mod, it becomes even worse. It looks as if the lights become saturated. Anyways, I'll quickly zone for some different densities and wealths to show you a better screen shot of the issue. Once again, thx for the help.

It's all in the title really. I'm having problems with the nightlighting of my city. It looks as though the lights are so dimm, near to the point there isn't any lighting at all. I have put all details on high, have all the updates (steam version automatically comes updated) and just can't figure out what the problem is? Also, I might add that every now and then, I get a flicker from the lights (when moving the screen around) and they seem real bright then, but when I stop, they go back to being so dimm again! If some one could help me on this matter, i'd be so grateful as i'm currently unable to enjoy all the content from this site, let alone the original game state Thanks in advance. Edit *** I also took all plugins out of the directory to try and start afresh, and still, same problem occurs. This is done with a totally fresh start of a city.
