    The governmet buildings are in place and in use, but the surrounding area is not quite finished yet.
    <ahttp://img97.imageshack.us/img97/2582/govmain2to.jpg align=baseline>
    The large building on the left is the governmental offices, Parliament is held on the top floor. This building is also the guest hotel.The central building is the treasury offices, still under construction.

    While the rest of the region grew quickly, the small town of Suerte started attracting inmmigrants.
    <ahttp://img245.imageshack.us/img245/1043/fireworks0qt.jpg align=baseline>
    The town quickly expanded along the waterfront, with bike paths and an airport built, the roads were upgraded too, especially as news filtered through of a new Skifield near the town.

    The bike path starts at the waterfall, and winds up the farming valley

    <ahttp://img43.imageshack.us/img43/5736/suerteapr50411253843959lc.jpg align=baseline>
    The small airport was built in expectation of tourists, there is no road link to the CBD.

    In the headlines:
    King Cumberdale promised to make New Auckland a country to rival the Cordovian Islands in size.
    Also, news of across Tasman Canberra claiming independence from Austalia has prompted parliament to discuss trade deals and an alliance with the new nation.

    Suerte will be expanded over the next week, and the new Skifield will open soon too.

    The people of Suerte have expanded their town alot in preperation for the tourist influx. The industrial part of town has had a renovation, and is now a pleasant village.
    <ahttp://img400.imageshack.us/img400/4629/tc2fk.jpg align=baseline>
    The building below is the new tourist information centre, designed by aucklander Sam Lawrence.
    <ahttp://img400.imageshack.us/img400/384/library8tk.jpg align=baseline>
    Surrounding the town are farms streching far up the valley, to cater for new growth, the sea port has also been expanded, and is now the biggest in New Auckland.

    <ahttp://img400.imageshack.us/img400/2553/port10ry.jpg align=baseline>

    The ski resort further in the mountains is almost complete, and a link road to the CBD is under construction, another update soon.

    Ummm hmm what was I going to say???

    oh yeah.......... I LIVE HERE!!!

    Its one thing to see New York or whatever all over the internet, but my lil old home town remade... in rather.... interesting fashion!

    On this picture:

    Red dot = my house
    Yellow = my work
    Pink = where I spend most evening socialising
    Light yellow = where Ive been hiking recently
    Brown = where Im a surf life guard!

    auckland29cw.png border=0

    My comments:

    The cities and air force base on Rangitoto and Mototapu are crazy! As if they'd let that happen IRL
    Eden City is about as opposite as the Mt Eden the suburb as you can get... not too many nasty factories IRL there!
    That national park should be re-named Greenhithe. Its a nice name for a Park, and its the name that the area has actually got. 1.gif
    Its great to see The Vero (formerly RoyalSun Alliance building), cant wait to see the Sky Tower
    Omaha the city? heh dont see that happening any time soon 3.gif

    that'll do for now, but I'm loving this so far 44.gif

    Thankyou skyshroud for your visit! Its nice to have a fellow Aucklander swing by29.gif, I live near one of your pink dots. New Auckland is quite abit different to the real one, youll definitely see that in this update(it hasnt snowed in Auckland since '74) The skytower and metropolis apartments coming soon. As for the National Park, Ive stolen too many other real life names, so its current name shall stick3.gif
    <ahttp://img97.imageshack.us/img97/4062/header0my.jpg align=baseline>
    Near Suerte, the Waitakere (Why-tack-a-ree)3.gif Skifield has been built and opened recently. It sits on the new Suerte-CBD highway over the Waitakere Ranges.
    <ahttp://img383.imageshack.us/img383/4517/skimain3kd.jpg align=baseline>

    <ahttp://img383.imageshack.us/img383/6843/skiwhole6go.jpg align=baseline>
    The slopes are still quite empty, although you can see a few dots of skiiers in this picture. Apparently the king tried his hand at snowboarding before the field opened. He didnt get far.
    <ahttp://img383.imageshack.us/img383/9351/sllope2ak.jpg align=baseline>

    Also, recent plans for new development have come in. Circled in red are current development areas. Suerte is to the far west of the city, Waiheke to the East. In black is the new CBD-Suerte Highway, as you can see its a long way to go. Finally, in green is the new proposed National Park, and yet again is Parliament stumped as to what its name shall be? Should the old name of Hunua be kept, or should it have something new? Any suggestions welcome.
    <ahttp://img301.imageshack.us/img301/5407/auckland23dj.jpg align=baseline>
    In other naming news, several groups, such as GIMP-ANA(Groups In Mutual Protest Against Names in Auckland), re pressuring the Government to change the name of CBD to something less generic. Public comments are welcome, this is a democracy.

    And finally, in Non-naming news, The United State of Canberra has agreed to become a free-trade partner with New Auckland, and embassies are under construction in both nations. PM Neil Finn stated, This, along with the nations membership in the SCJU, is set to become New Aucklands strongest deals. Its the beginning of a new age.

    Battlefield 2 has caught me in its trap

    I heard that it wasnt very good... but nevermind, here I wait.

    What I hope to eventually do - once I get some free time and a new computer - is to model Auckland as it currently is, look at traffic problems etc, and then compare it to what the place could be like if all the planned transport projects were completed. Should be interesting heh even though they do it in real life, the answers aren't very forthcoming.

    The nation of New Auckland is proud to announce the bid for the 2005 Winter SU Games! The country wants to be put in the spotlight, and hosting the first ever SCJU games is a great way to do it! Neil Finn, PM.
    Construction has already begun in anticipation of the games, mainly centred around the ski resort, and the Games Village of Suerte.
    The Western Moterway construction has been accelerated, and now streches from Suerte to the ski fields.
    Tunnels.jpg

    Bridge.jpg
    Again, small towns have sprung up near the new roading.
    Farm.jpg

    In nearby Cordovia Valley, a new Ski resort is under construction as the main sporting area for the games, and both the Highway and Railway has been extended through it.
    Mwaytunnel.jpg

    windingtrack.jpg

    skigames.jpg

    The nearby town of Suerte has also still been growing very rapidly, and he northern village near the Airport has attracted plenty of B&B's for travellers.
    Suertegrowth.jpg

    TCgrowth.jpg
    On the hills above Suerte, a sporting centre has begun construction.
    Sportcentre.jpg

    GamesTC.jpg

    Trade has begun with Canberra, which, in a feat of daring seperatism, has dug a dutch around itself, and floated out to sea.3.gif
    Neil Finn and Canberra PM Cyndi Lauper met in Eden City last weekend for a very secretive meeting. It is guessed the meeting involved defence, but no detailed information is available.
    The CBD is to be renamed, and after careful deliberation and a sudden interuption by HM, the City will from now on be known as Kings Harbour.

    About crashing pc, yeah, I know what you mean. Had the same problem a week ago.
    You just lean back, enjoy the fruit of your work since after a lot of work everything is just as it should be and then ... crash. Or electricity cut. 14.gif
    You just could cry!!! 32.gif

    I am feeling with you thus waiting for the update!

    As citizens of Kings Harbour rebuild after the devastating crash of Sept 10th, the Western Motorway is almost complete.
    The motorway currently streches from the capital to the foothills of the Waitakere Ranges.
    It stretches through the pine forests surrounding the West Harbour area.
    <BRMwayforest.jpg
    >
    Nearer to the capital, the small industrial town of Avondale has grown around the new Motorway.
    Mwaytown.jpg
    A monorail is planned to extend to the ranges if the Games bid is succesful
    MOno-Cont.jpg
    Near the base of the Waitakeres, the extensive flat lands are perfect for farming, and the Motorway has made sure goods are sped to the capital.

    New Auckland Network News
    -Lodgers and Skiers in the Waitakere ranges were yesterday shocked by currently unidentified aircraft. Just after nightfall, two aircraft shot over from the South flying low and fast. They just came over the horizon, resort owner William Shatner said,In about 3seconds, they were gone! When asked what he thought of the encounter, he replied,One looked as though it was guiding the other, I swear the one behind was smoking

    The homes were already there before the Motorway was built, and to comply with SCJU rules, the Government is enforcing the affectionately dubbed Green Skid resolution. This means all major transport routes and dense urban areas will be lined with trees and green belts, with parks in urban areas.
    Green Skid action is rolling out from major tourist areas outwards into smaller towns.
    EDIT: Your new avatar's OK, but i cant quite tell what it is3.gif. Im guessing the front of a car?

    The citizens of New Auckland are well into the refurbishment of the nation in preperation for the SU games bid.
    Omaha Beach has seen plenty of growth as people try to gain hold of land before the prices go up.
    turningtorso.jpg
    This hotel, the now infamous Cumberdale Heights, was the scene of a brutal protest, after it was discovered that it was built over a ancient pot museum. 6 people were trampled to death in the pickets.

    CBDconstruct.jpg

    The Casino faced a lot of opposition, until it was found that it wasnt going to be a casino, but a museum/hotel.

    AirportUpgrade.png
    The airport has also been upgraded, but engineers are puzzled about the strange shape the runways have taken. Any help over why this would happen???

    The Skifields are also in the middle of a renovation, and have been expanded northward towards the village of Ruapehu.
    NorthSki.jpg

    skifield.jpg
    The pic above shows the skifield just before renovations began to allow the western motorway to pass thorugh the area.
    The town of Ruapehu is so called because of the nearby Mt Ruapehu. Back in 1932, the mountain blew its top, causing a lahar that buried almost the whole town of Clevedon further down the valley.
    Volcano1.jpg
    Over the next decade, it remained active, and the surrounding area was abandoned due to the danger.
    Volcano2.jpg

    In 1976, on Christmas Day, the volcano erupted, and 23 people were killed in the repopulated areas around it, most by mudslides and lahars.
    Ruapehu3.jpg
    Since then, the volcano has remained dormant, and after the 2007 disaster, the town of Ruapehu grew around it as it became a small tourist attraction.
    Ruapehunow.jpg

    The whole nation of New Auckland is dotted with volcanos, active and dormant.
    In West Harbour, Mt Henderson has been active and has held a lava lake since a small eruption in 1891.
    WestVolcano.jpg

    westvolcano2.jpg

    To the west of Kings Harbour, on the Northern tip of Mototapu, lies the active volcano of Diablo Head.
    DiabloHead.jpg
    Although harmless, Diablo Head is often spewing clouds of steam that can be seen on the horizon from Kings Harbour.

    Sorry about the lack of updates recently, havnt had much SC4 playing time, there has been other distractions2.gif

    Thankyou to all for your comments, keep 'em coming!
    @Jaquilina: Thanks!
    @Traffic_Jam: Thankyou for visiting
    @Pipishere: As always, nice to see you
    @Skyshroud: Actually, Cordovia Valley is named after Pipishere's great CJ, but it does sort of sound like Cadrona! (An NZ Skifield for the non-Kiwi's)
    Anywho...
    header0my.jpg
    Most construction in the area is still centred around the Waitakere ranges, as the nation prepares for a fight to win the Winter Games bid.
    At the bottom of the Waitakeres, where the Western Motorway has now been completed, the town of Waitakere lies near the Rotorua Geothermal Power Plant. A thin strip of land near the base of the foothills provides naturally heated water, hot enough for steam at greater depths.
    Wai-Trees.jpg
    This shows the springs nearest the town, which provide much needed relaxation for the motorway construction workers.
    Wai-Town.jpg

    Mine.jpg
    The town is quite wealthy, as the nearby Sulphur mines proved very profitable.
    Farmland.jpg
    The flat plains of the west end of Kings Harbour have perfect conditions for growing a wide range of crops.

    Slightly South of the town, many residents have noticed many heavy trucks driving down a side street at night.
    Base-Offroad.jpg
    During the day, the road is hardly used, and a police safety tower has been built at the intersection.
    A small plane from nearby Waitakere Airstrip was able to take pictures of the road, and what it leads to. Upon landing, the camera's memory was wiped, but this picture was extracted from the memory:
    SecurityGate.jpg
    The pilot was interviewed afterwards, but avoided any questions relating to what she saw, and kept repeating the words Jiminy Jelikers! over and over.

    The government refuses to comment on the site, but rumours are spreading that Canberra has something to do with it.

    I do promise city pictures soon, so hang on in there!
