lol reminds me of when I used to play with a small group of my classmates in our CADD class. Now all they do is play FPSs because strategy is "too hard." Oh well, at least I'm getting work done.

Although, I'm quite fond of AoE III... All those howitzers and pieces splintering off buildings...whoooot!

Right, had alot of fun making my own scenarios too, priceless having my friends try to survive 500 genghis khans coming at them and arrows flying out of castles

AOE II was a game of awesomeness. Best strategy was to build small walled areas at random, stick a trebuchet in and watch stuff die.

Does anyone here still play this game? I know this forum is pretty dead and probably not looked at often, but I figured I'd ask. I still play this game quite a bit, alternating between Germans for the economy and Japanese for the extremely effective military. Just reached Sergeant rank, too.

I still play AoE II at times, though I just downloaded Gameranger to play online when I dare to play for the first time.

AOE II was by far my favorite, I played it all the time. Every part of that game I liked. Age of Mythology was also my favorite, those two games were the best strategy games I have ever played.

I built acivil war map where a city is divided into 2 factions (in AOE II) then I did the "see all" cheat and watched the city destory itself. Priceless.

Anyone ever made a chr=arge of the light brigade map in AOE III? I don't own AOEIII tohugh, I made one in AOEII with hussars for the troops and janissiaries/hand cannoneers and bombard towers for the defenders.

Ah yes, I saw it pop up on the Steam News window. I may consider buying it.

 

Right now I'm working my way through the first game's campaigns. The game seems harder than I remember, although I don't think I played the campaigns much as a kid. I was more focussed on playing random maps and abusing cheat codes.

 

I've finished the Egyptian learning campaign and the first mission of the Greek campaign. I'm not too proud to say I've had to resort to strategy guides on occasion, not until I've failed a mission several times though.

All it is really is support for aspect ratios other than 4:3 and some altered water/fire effects. It shouldn't be too taxing. I'm mainly getting it because it has another centralised multiplayer service in it.

Well with the new HD version on steam I can finally play this amazing game again. I'm so happy. 

 

I haven't played any multiplayer yet, but anyone else purchase the HD edition? What do you all think? Personally I dislike the new farm and cliff textures, aside from those it pretty much just allows me to play the game without any un-explainable errors Perhaps it's just nostalgia why I love the old textures more.

Personally, I like AOE3 the best. I played it since I was a little kid and I still play it today. Its so fun to build a crap-ton of cannons and howitzers and watch infantry fly farther than the buildings

To me, the AOE2 HD edition looks no different from the old one, judging from the screenshots online. Okay maybe a little bit sharper, but nothing else.
