Out of curiosity, what is the city journal number found below the avatar?

What browser are you using? It seems to be working fine for me.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

STEX search is still horrible, they can't find "CycleDogg" when I type it into the "Author" box of the advanced search, nor can it find "CPT_No7TreeControllers", so now I can't find Cycledogg's Columbus Tree Controller, only the MAC file, and I know there's a PC version.

You can search for Members in the search box widget on the top right hand corner of every page (under the box with your username and signout link). Just click the down arrow (next to the gear button that leads to advanced search) to get to a dropdown menu where you can select "Members". It might also help to try all lowercase letter.

After getting to the profile page of the member you're looking for, select "Find My Content" on the left side of the profile page, and go to the "ST EXchange" tab that shows up. This seems to show more results than the "Files" tab that is found directly on the User's profile page.

Alternatively, if you are able to find another file by the author you are looking for, you can click on "Find more content by this user" to get to the same place.

So, following that instruction flow, I got:

{The list of all the files Cycledogg has made},

    {And the file you're looking for}.

Also, the MAC file should just be the same as the PC version, except without an .exe installer (because Macintosh computers need an extra utility to use those installers).

If you want to search by the name of the download, I was able to find the file you were looking for by entering "cpt_no7" into the search bar and selecting "ST EXchange" from the dropdown menu.

It seems that in general, site search is now very picky and exact about what you enter into it, so if it doesn't match completely, you won't get a result you want.

EDIT: After trying out the Advanced search, it seems that if you enter anything into the "Author" field, the search breaks and returns no result. I can usually find everything by searching with the search bar (and not going into advanced search), so you might try the search bar instead.

...OK, I think this post might have gotten a bit too long and confusing >.< , so let me try to sum it up:

    • Use the search bar, not the advanced search.
    • You can select which section of the site to search in through the dropdown menu in the search bar.
    • Don't enter the whole name of a download, because the search is very specific and if you enter it wrong then it won't find what you want. Just enter part of it (or some descriptive phrase of it).
    • "Find My Content" from a user's profile page will yield all or most of their contributions, while the tabs directly on the user's page won't.
    • I need to learn to get a cohesive post together before posting it, instead of editing a post piecemeal until it becomes a giant mess of words.

Rather than use the white box technique, will someone please tell me how the "multiquote" button works. Why do we need it?

Just click it for any posts you want to quote and then click add reply and you have all of the quotes you checked.

Ach so! Not sure that I would want it, but is may be a nice feature. Sounds like it eats up a lot of memory, but I suppose it just keeps pointers.

I'm curious to know if there's a way to set e-mail notifcation alerts for your profile wall, just like facebook when a new commented is posted you immediately get an e-mail. I haven't delved deeply through all the settings pages only just skim reading them but I couldn't see an option. If it's not available then perhaps its a feature that could be implemented in the future?

    Regards,

    Richard

Right up the top of the page, click on your username.

    Click "My Settings",

Click "Notification Options" in the list on the left.

    Go down a little.

Check the left-most box for each applicable one to receive email notifications.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

That number is the number of city journal entries the user has made.

Someone on staff moved an article out of SimCity4 General Discussion into, I suspect, the archive of junk and bad posts. Unfortunately the moved link is still present, and of course causes a board error if I try to access it. This should be totally removed.

When I was a moderator, I would have done the same, but it would have been gone without a trace.

I just noticed by accident that the posts being returned on request are in gray and not black for font color. Rather silly, and affected, and difficult for me with my visual accutance problems. I thought it was part of my problem, and not some affectation of whoever picked the output font. Please make it black.

Faint colors seem to be in style for web pages. Please don't fall into this trap. You just make it difficult for people with visual problems.

I think I'd like to clean up my message storage. Is there a way to do this selectively without opening each one:?

But I really would like to know when the Simoleons are removed.

Do you mean why they were removed or when they will be back? They were removed for maintenance. I don't know when it will be back online.

Sorry for the bump but I have to raise the issue of "[#103128] The administrator has limited the number of new posts you can submit within a short time frame. Please wait 60 seconds before replying or posting a new topic.". In the case of the forum games section it is a stupid time! At least lower it to 20 seconds, that is plenty of time to prevent accidental double posts and not PO forum gamers.
