The fortress looks great, Jarno. I love the detail that's been put into it. Though, I don't really like how the middle section's been done... didn't castles/fortresses have their cemeteries outside the walls?

Hey....for you and the rest of the folks that are dealing with the "brownout" from imagecity....Dudy has been notifid.....hopefully he will have things sorted out soon...He update his forums as well as upgraded imagecity to run better, ......and unlike photobucket and imageshack.....he does the work pretty much by himself....so it takes a bit....

Im sorry to admit this but i havent neard of this cj until i searhed sc4 on video google and a video of chaumont showed up. I was amazed on how you did videos(If not you then whoever did it i was impressed)Im also increasingly impressed on how amazingly eurpoeanly realistic this cj is beatiful...bookmarkedx2000

EDIT: To help keep the game up to par i have a seperater account for Sim City. I have found out that the smaller your my documents folder is the faster the game will run on your computer.(Well on mine anyways).

Now that's an awesome fortress (and an awesome place to put it as well)! I know your frustration with imgcity b/c I lost my CJ because of it, but I'm sure you'll find a good image hosting site eventually, and same goes for the map. I have not responded since page 31 (14 April) that has been a long time for an avid reader of this delightfully city journal.

I hate to see it go, but I hope you will enjoy your next project, Jarno.

One word of advise for speeding the game, did you use the doublekiller? http://www.bigbangenterprises.de/en/doublekiller/

It is a great programm and those doubles realy frustrate the game and make it sooooo slow. Believe me I tested it and it did make a big change in the speed of the game.

So you have a new job. It is dull but pays well? mmmmmm, just like mine I guess. So you are no longer a history teacher?

About Vauban... I tried to make also more modern fortresses (around 17th century) with earth walls instead of brick walls but there arent' good BATs for it... the Finnish /Swedish castle that you can plop in the water (was it called Olafsborg?) has some.

Sigh.. I'm sorry I had to keep you all waiting another month before you'd hear news from me everyone!

It's been an incredibly busy month and unfortunately it seems like I'll remain very occupied for the next few months.. I've recently started my history study at the University of Amsterdam and it's been both very inspiring and interesting, but also very time consuming and tiresome.. I can keep up alright, but it also cuts into my ability to spend time on Simcity, on reading the forums and on generally spending time on anything else besides my study..

Fortunately this was the first week in which I was free on Friday, so yesterday night I though: 'I'm just going to BAT now and I won't stop until I'm finished'.. I found an amazing monument somewhere that I want to BAT and although I haven't finished that in it's entirety, I have definitely finished a very vital part of it: a tank!

Yes, you heard that right.. I'm going on the warpath lately.. I created a new flak/artillery gun several months ago that I can use for the monument, but this tank.. (Well, I'm actually very proud of it.. Sorry if that sounds arrogant or anything, but I can't help it!)

This, my friends, is a Soviet T34 tank, also known as 'the tank that won World War Two'.. The memorial/monument I'm BATting has something to do with that and, as I said, this tank will play a pivotal role in it.. Be patient though, it could take quite some time before I finish it! But when it is, I can assure you it's going to look amazing!

On the Chaumont front, I can tell you that it's been very quiet.. I've stopped searching for regions and I've narrowed it down to about three candidates, but I'm still uncertain about whether or not I should try that new region terraform tool.. In any case, it's very quiet and I'm afraid it will remain so for quite some time.. Sorry!

Sorchin: Thanks, Sorchin! The castle comples is actually three different lots joined together (appearing to be one lot) with several Maxis created props and several BATs from the internet.. Just a bit of creative lotting actually.. In any case, thanks so much for your compliment!

Simfan34: Thanks, Simfan.. The BATs I usually release are my monuments/memorials.. Anything I plan to use solely for Chaumont will not be released in the foreseeable future and the cannons are among those I'm afraid..

You're completely right with regards to medieval castles having their cemeteries outside of the castle to prevent disease etc.. However, this castle is basically one of Napoleon's megalomaniacal dreams, so it was built during the 19th century and he didn't really have to worry about being besieged by anything else than an angry mob of pitchfork-wielding peasants..

Nik-nik: Glad to see you're back, Nik-nik! It has indeed been a long time since we heard from you! I tried out doublekiller, but it didn't really help much as to the speed of the game.. After reworking the plugin folder, all of the double files were gone, so that wasn't a problem anymore fortunately.. As for my new job, it's basically correcting other people's Dutch/English grammar and sending the corrected files through to the next person.. Not much work, not very exciting, but it pays nicely and I'm able to do it next to my studies as well.. (The teaching thing was basically my previous study: I studied to become a history teacher and did occassionaly stand in front of a class, but after a while I started to wonder that was really what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, so now I'm still studying history, but with the intention of becoming a writer/researcher or something else along those lines..) Petriknl: Yeah, the big problem with SC4 is that it  seems like a 3D game, but you can't really do the things you'd hope to do in a genuinely 3D game.. I did use Olavinnlina Castle a couple of times, but the scale isn't really the size I can use for SC4 in terms of using it for an SC4 sized city..

Chaumont, unfortunately, is thoroughly dead. I stopped playing a long, long time ago and have stopped working on Chaumont not that long after that. The game simply lost its appeal and I found other games that attracted me a lot more.. To make a long story short, when the time game to clear out my computer to prepare for a complete formatting, I deleted everything related to Simcity..

Chaumont will not be coming back any time soon, since I have no intention of playing Simcity 4 anymore and judging by the look of the new Simcity, I doubt Chaumont will make a reappearance in the near future..
