However, Willow Run is definitely one of the largest ALL-CARGO airports in the country.

I should have been more clear... all cargo is what I meant.  I still wish I could remember what that statistic actually was, I just have no idea where I saw it anymore!  Oh well... I had no idea Dallas was such a busy airport!

Well, I don't think FedEx's Memphis and UPS's Louisville hubs are all-cargo, so that's the rest of your recollection down the drain. ;) I'm gunning for your Trivia Master title, if only I knew something about Detroit! Despite living here for around 10 years, I'm still dreaming of getting out of here! :)

You've got some work ahead of you khanate if you want to take JB's trivia master title away. I'll say this about Willow Run, I live in the flight path just 2 miles from the airport and it is pretty damn busy. Especially at night, oh my are there a ton of flights that land during the night time hours. You can hear the braking very well from my apartment, very loud even as far away as I am from it.

Nofunk, I can work on the lighting for you if you want. I'm not how soon I'd get to it, probably this weekend. I still have to do the lot for Farminsims Chicken Shack but that shouldn't take me too long. I figure the lighting would only take me a few hours to complete on the tower. I figure I could have all that done on Sunday. All I need you to do is zip the gmax model file and all of the textures together. I can then get it lit up for you and will send it back for you to rerender and LE it. Once again you can send the file to me at budweiserdude23@gmail.com

Baldy, don't worry about the pictures. I'm still having my scaling and polygon issue. There is an outside chance that the model is screwed or that it will be too involved to fix. Luckily, the problem only exists on the main tower. For some reason the sclae at the bottom is screwed. Let this be a leson, don't try to bat while intoxicated. Math and booze don't mix!

By the way, have fun in Detroit tomorrow. There is an extremely small chance I'll be down there. I have to work an apartment complex up off of Jefferson not too far from Belle Isle at some point tomorrow but my gut feeling is that my boss will have me there in the morning. If for some reason I'm down there late in the afternoon I'll try to meet up with you but the chances of that are like 2%. Either way, have a good time!

Rock on, I'll shoot the zip file to you now. It's a couple MB though, hope that's okay. Who knew textures would take up so much space?

    Thanks for the help, dude!

    Khante - Good point...

Kids- let this be a lesson to you.  Reading too much stuff late at night is BAD.  You get everything all jumbled up and next thing you know, you're writing Spanish on your algebra exams!

Appologies to everyone for the error.  Hopefully, none of you bought stock based on my misguided statement!  If you did, check the disclaimer and then remember that I work for non-profit... suing me will get you nowhere!17.gif

Anyone else here that's going downtown today PM me really soon so I can figure out where to meet someone.  Thanks!

JBSimio, my apologies for receiving your PM so late.  The last time I was on ST was 1:45.  I then took a long nap and woke up at 3:30, only to go downstairs to socialize with friends, and come back up to leave for Detroit.  We plan on doing this again, so you'll see more chances

On the way to Detroit, things were rough.  I-94 was congested and we ended up taking side roads to the downtown.  We ended up in some really bad areas of Detroit's West Side, but it was nothing to be scared about.

Seeing the grand opening of campus martius was impressive.  Allan, Aaron, and I took a lot of photos.  Special thanks goes to Ray over at Urbanplanet.org who let us out on the observation deck of the compuware building.  Detroit looks so beautiful from high up despite the hazy sky.  There was also plenty of action going down on the street.  There were so many people at the restaurants nearby, that we had to go to Pizzapaplis in Greektown.  On the way there, we met Baldy and his wife who were on their way to see the festivities.  The pizza was great as always and then we headed back to see the Christmas tree lighting.  We then, unfortunately, lost Aaron in the crowds, and we then we all split up and looked for him around Detroit, since we figured he had wandered off to a building a few blocks down.  We finally found each other and explored the city further.  Then the rain started coming down hard, and we decided to head back to the car around 11:00.  All in all, it was a fun night in the D.  Pictures to come soon.

Well I have an interesting story to tell. While you guys were doing that I was at the Pistons game last night. Here's the story...My brother called me up late Thursday night to let me know that a buddy of his had tickets to the game but was going to be unable to use them for some odd reason, not that important. Anyways, I figured what the hell, we'll buy them and have a good old time at the game. Well you know the rest...

And yes, I did see the fight. Our seats were in the upper deck on the opposite side of the melee. We were just about to leave, I mean we were getting out of our seats to head towards the exit when all hell broke loose. What a bunch of fools...

Haha Bud, DON'T MESS WITH DETROIT! Not that I really care about Detroit like that...
And JB don't forget about the recent fire at the Yankee Air Museum! I live about 10 minutes from Willow Run and I was actually on my way to the Chiefettes Variety Show in the Salem Auditorium and I saw these massive clouds of dark grey smoke, and I was thinking what is going on?! I found out later on the news...
I know what you are talking about with those planes flying over your house at night,ARG! Lucky for me they changed some routes around where I live so there are barely ever planes over my house anymore.
So I fell asleep with 10 minutes left in the Michigan game, what was the score?

Man I sure hope Wallace doesn't get suspended for long. Maybe he shouldn't have shoved Artest, but Artest shouldn't have fouled him like that when the Pistons were gonna lose anyway. And Wallace wasn't the one running up in the stands decking whoever was in the way. Freakin' unbelievable is what it is!!

And Spidey, I'm not going to say anything about the Michigan game today . . . it's just too painful. 15.gif

Although, we're still going to the Rose Bowl!

    Great pictures, Wolverine!

Sorry I missed it.  I got into Ann Arbor around 4:00 or so, just on the off chance you might still call.  Hung around for a little while and then gave up.  As luck would have it, Baldy did end up calling me, but I was already back in Brooklyn by then, so ....

I've spent the rest of the weekend trying to get my house packed up.  By this time next week, I'll be in the new place!

Spidey - I actually saw the smoke from that fire.  I didn't find out until a couple days later that that's what it was... It's really too bad they lost so much in that.

Bud - I missed that game.  Sounds like quite a memorable occaision!

Nice pics, Wolverine. Friday night was so much fun. I need to get back downtown sometime this week so that I can photograph the park in the daylight, and see the things I missed (like the point of origin marker).

What am I still doing up? My roommate's alarm goes off in 15 minutes, and I have to get up in 2 hours. Another sleepless night for me! If I stopped procrastinating, I could actually get a decent amount of sleep...like that will ever happen! LOL.

I have posted my photos from the C-Mart opening in two parts at UrbanPlanet.org.

    Part 1

    Part 2

My photos of Brush Park will be posted next, so look out for those in about a week (when the current Detroit photo threads die down).

Well guys I just wanted to report that I have successfully re-created my billboards and so far they work OK. It took me about an hour and a half so I am feeling the need for a serious break. I'll test it in the game tomorrow and see what I get.

Well done. Has a refined look to it, even if it is hawking liquor. What am I saying?????

RLS has really caught up to me. Work is just the pits right now. Lots of hours and a co-worker brute who's been breathing down my neck (one of these know it all ass chompers who couldn't find his way out of a paper bag if you gave him directions and a flashlight) are taking their toll. One of these days I'd like to just sit down and putz all day with things SC4 related. Speaking of which, I'm hoping to get to your files nofunk and farminsim. Just haven't found the time.

Happy Thanksgiving to the BSP and all of Simtropolis!

I thought some of you might be interested in some historic views from Saginaw.  All these pictures are thanks to my late Grandfather, Armin Schultz.  He was a teacher, coach, and athletic director at Michigan Lutheran Seminary from 1935 - 1973.  He was well known locally and in the MHSAA... the Korf/Schultz Invitational Track Meet was named in part for him.  Enjoy!

This is Arthur Hill High School, taken shortly after completion in February, 1940.

    /idealbb/files/CourtStreet.JPG
A view looking east from Old Town Saginaw.  This is the Court Street Bridge just under construction in July of 1940.

The rest of these pictures deal with the construction of the new Michigan Lutheran Seminary from 1950-1951.  There have been several additions to the high school since then, but this was the original new building.

    /idealbb/files/OldMain.JPG
Old Main served as the school prior to the 1950 construction.

This is the same house being moved.  This was also the first house my grandparents lived in when he began teaching at MLS.

    /idealbb/files/HouseMoving3.JPG
Another house being moved.  My father grew up in this house.  Both houses still sit next door to each other on Court Street right across from where I sit at this very moment!

Just thought I'd add some pictures to my trivia for once!!! (Thanks Dad for letting me use the old photo albums.)

Ahhh, thanks for taking me back to my former hometown JBSimio!  I didn't realize they had to move houses to make way for Arthur Hill as it occupies A LOT of open space.  Then again some of the surrounding neighborhoods were built after 1950.  BTW, there is a very extensive Saginaw photo thread (3 Parts) over at urbanplanet.org...... http://www.urbanplanet.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=4827   http://www.urbanplanet.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=5065   http://www.urbanplanet.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=5067 .  I created these threads over the summer, and although I am a former resident of Saginaw, I don't feel all of the captions are correct, as I relied on some of the locals for some information of buildings of the past.

Nice pics, Wolverine! Makes downtown look much nicer than it usually is!3.gif That's St. Paul Lutheran Church... our church growing up... my family still attends! (Quite a coincidence, I thought!) Also the small commercial strip you show is between the church and my old house on Court Street. Spent quite a few dates at the Court Theater there.

All those pictures following the Court Street bridge deal with the construction of Michigan Lutheran Seminary, not Arthur Hill. I couldn't find any pictures of that other than the one finished building. So just to clarify... those houses were moved to make room for MLS. According to my dad, they were only moved three or four lots down the road (although they used to be in a different order). What is now 2100 Court St used to be 2112 or something like that.

    As for the Lions... *sigh*

Hey guys, just thought I'd drop in and see what's new. Looks like not a whole lot haha. Very interesting posts on Saginaw, though! Between being out of town over the holiday and ST being down a bunch, I haven't been able to check in until just now.

Hope everyone had a good holiday!

Final exams are coming 28.gif but once that's over I hope to get a bunch of BATing done! Right.

    All right, I'm out!

Wow, long time no talk. I promised you the BSP Website the other day, but let me fill you in on what's going on.

Because my assigned projects for my architecture courses range in scale and difficulty, and we don't know what they are until the day they are assigned, I cannot easily make predictions as to how long it will take to complete them. I am getting them done though, despite the large amount of time they take up. That left me with the projected time which I would fill doing the BSP. But awhile back I mentioned I was doing a huge research project that will serve as the new online campus tour for the university. This meant research for all the historical background info on the university, doing writeups for nearly 200 structures, and getting those pictures and writeups on a well designed webpage with proper citations and such. I had plenty of time to work on this project, but I had actually pushed it back to work on the BSP. Now it has caught up with me, and the BSP will have to wait until my vacation when I will have NO WORK TO DO. I'm very crunched now with a final exam and project deadlines. In fact, I was succesful at getting a week long extension for two projects after the due date, which will help relieve some of the stress, but the BSP will have to wait for now. I'm not even going out this weekend. But you guys will have to expect the site by New Years Day, or maybe before Christmas because of a very important reason:

When I apply for the architecture school, the university likes to see related work you have done outside of the classroom. Be it constructing a website related to architecture (but not necessarily), photographs of cities or buildings, and drawings you have completed. They also like to know if you are part of any teams that do related work.

After I showed one of my professors my model of Ford Field, he was very impressed. I also showed him the future BSP website. He thought the BSP was going to take me over the top and into the school. The university considers us to be an actual organization and qualifies to be put on a resume. None of YOUR work will have anything to do with me of course, because its YOUR work! But because we are team dedicated to something that is related to architecture, that is what impresses them. I will be using my own models and the website in my portfolio. Therefore, in order for it to be included, I must get the site done by early January. So I would really count on it. Because finishing this website is no longer a hobby, its my future!!!9.gif

Sweet story wolverine! Now the BSP is your job. Who knows, maybe you'll actually get somebody to play simcity if you show them your Ford Field model. It really is amazing how realistic you can BAT something with the tool.

This doesn't count as a double post, does it?9.gif

This thread has sort gone down the toilet here. I understand that wolverine is probably taking midterms now, and that the holiday season is always busy, but I figured I might as well check in for anything new. I myself have semester exams coming up, but that's a few weeks after winter break so it's still pretty far off.
