Date: 11/18/2004 9:57:33 PM Author: JBSimio I should have been more clear... all cargo is what I meant. I still wish I could remember what that statistic actually was, I just have no idea where I saw it anymore! Oh well... I had no idea Dallas was such a busy airport! JB quote> Well, I don't think FedEx's Memphis and UPS's Louisville hubs are all-cargo, so that's the rest of your recollection down the drain. I'm gunning for your Trivia Master title, if only I knew something about Detroit! Despite living here for around 10 years, I'm still dreaming of getting out of here! Khanate/Honghushi

Date: 11/18/2004 7:04:56 PM Author: JBSimio Today, Willow Run is one of the largest cargo airports in the country. I can't find it now, but I believe I saw it ranked third behind the main hubs for FedEx and UPS (Memphis and Atlanta?). Don't quote me on that part, though. quote> No, don't quote him on it. Willow Run moves a bit under 50000 metric tonnes per year; the 11th biggest cargo airport in the USA, Dallas/Fort Worth, moves over 600000 metric tonnes per year (Metro does more cargo than Willow Run, I believe). However, Willow Run is definitely one of the largest ALL-CARGO airports in the country. Khanate/Honghushi better lurking through technology

42 5x14x8 HVACs? Yeeesh! I know you mentioned your line of work before, so I figured you were trying to be realistic. I just hate the look of them. Hey BD, are there any rendering tips you can give me? I'm working on some buildings and props for low-density R$/$$ 1x1s. I slapped it on a growable lot and tested in-game and sure enough one popped up within a few months, but the night lighting didn't work. I've since read up on that in other threads so I should be able to take care of that problem. Oh, one thing I noticed was that my building did not match up with its outline in Lot Editor. If I arranged it on one edge of the lot in plan view, for example, the 3d view shows the building hanging over the edge into the great void. Also, I get to create custom overlay textures, woo. HHS

I just wanted to say that I abhor roof junk. I was loving that Big K until it got the roof junk treatment. I that how they really look on top? Well, I've read all the arguments about plentiful roof junk is the key to good ratings in the STEX, but I'm aesthetically inclined toward as little RJ as possible. Of course, if want you've done is realistic, so be it. I'm just being argumentative. HHS

Hey BD, Okay, I could use the Domino's model instead, and we'll see how that goes!

Hey BD, When you are finished with your Big K, could you send the gmax to me? I'd just like to test my computer's rendering speed really. I'm working on modelling some plans that are non-BSP and have not done much extensive work in the BAT yet. Great model, excellent textures. I don't know about the Meijer though. I think those are generally much wider than a Kmart or Big K (I think they are comparable to the Super K's, if I remember Super K's correctly; the usual Kmart plus a full grocery store). HHS

If it's any comfort, the garden areas of the K's in my neck of Macomb County tend to have a couple rows of canopies covering the plants and the pallets upon pallets of bags of potting soil. Maybe be easier to model that way, with just some plant props peeking out of the edges of the canopies at the lot-building stage. HHS

Hello all, I have parsed the comprehensive list of Michigan cities, towns, townships and counties into word segments for the purpose of using them in muhtadi's City Name Generator to create 100% Michigan-inspired place names. The file contains names.txt, suffix.txt and prefix.txt. No registered Michigan civil entities in my comprehensive list included a 'middle name' (-upon-, -in-the-, etc.) so none were included, but you can still use the middle-name option in the generator. To use: 1. If you want only Michigan names, copy the files in the directory with SING.exe. 2. If you want other names as well, you can copy the contents of the file into your existing files. If you go with the first option, you may want to save a copy of the original files under another name or in another directory so you have a backup. Have fun! HHS
